From Sneaker's Foster mom: I have a never-ending list of wonderful things to say about Miss Sneakers! First and foremost, she is incredibly sweet and responds wonderfully to training. She’s not only treat-motivated, but also thrives on praise—which is so easy to give, because she’s truly a good girl. She’s completely potty trained and adapts well to both a house or apartment lifestyle. Sneakers already knows several commands: sit, lay down, off, wait, and—of course—“good girl.” She’s gentle with her toys and prefers stuffed animals over puzzle toys. Her favorite snacks are biscuits, bully sticks, and meat treats—though she’s not a fan of peanut butter. She gets plenty of exercise with 2–3 walks a day (plus some running!) to help burn off energy. Behavior & Socialization: Sneakers is considered reactive, meaning she gets nervous around new people and may bark to try and keep them away. But in the short time I’ve had her, she’s already shown amazing progress with consistent, positive exposure—especially in outdoor spaces like parks, where she can take things at her own pace. She simply needs time and patience to build trust. Once she does, she bonds deeply. ‍ Bonds quickly with women ‍ Slower to trust men Would do best in a home with older kids (she’s a little jumpy and sensitive about her tail) No cats due to prey drive (not officially tested) Best as the only dog—she’s shown nervous behavior around others Her Ideal Home: Sneakers needs a calm, structured home with patient humans who’ll give her space and support as she decompresses. Berlioz (meaning "little bear") just joined The Rescue Crew on Saturday, January 10. He came to us after being rescued by one of our partner organizations after being picked up as a stray, along with his brother Toulouse, on the PineRidge Reservation. Check back often for updates as we get to know these boys better. First week update: Berlioz is settling into his foster home well. The first few days were filled with uncertainty as he made the long drive to Minnesota, was separated from his brother, and spent his first night alone. Now, he is starting to explore in earnest and finding his routine. He shows his herding dog heritage by staying right by foster mom's side, sometimes nipping heels gently (probably no very small children, or a family who understand how to work with this). Berlioz prefers to have company. He would love to have other dogs to play with and shows excellent social skills with the limited introductions he's had with the other dogs in the home. He is also a world-class snuggles who likes to give hugs, kisses, and sit in laps.
