Yozuri and her sister Yamaha were found when their foster parents were on a walk. The sisters came trotting out of the woods where they had been living in a cardboard box. They were vetted and fostered and adopted to a home. Due to unforeseen circumstances that were not at all of her making, Yozuri finds herself back in the care of Save a Stray once again hoping for a forever home. Yozuri is just happy about life. She is housetrained and crate trained. She gets along with everyone, loves toys, and playing fetch. Yozuri is smart, comes when called, and gives attention easily. She is a playful girl but also loves to snuggle. She is a delight to have around. This girl deserves a home to treat her like a princess. Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. Introducing Lucy! Brand new to rescue, we know very little about Lucy, who came to rescue with Gemma, other than the basics: Lucy is 4 year old red merle spayed female weighing 28 lbs at intake, who was surrendered due to not being good with babies and young children in the home and was living in an unheated garage with Gemma. At current, both dogs are friendly & affectionate with people, soaking up all opportunities to be with them but are showing signs of not being good citizens with unfamiliar dogs at this time as they acclimate from living in a garage away from people and other dogs to being inside a home where human and canine contact is more regular. Lucy is also struggling some separation anxiety, which isn't surprising given her previous situation. We are currently taking some time to assess them as to their needs when it comes to living with other dogs long-term, but are seeking big hearts with time and patience to give who could be interested in fostering or foster-to-adopt applicants for these ladies. Eunice is a 1 year old, spayed female, Aussie mix. With her short legs and big ears I would not be surprised if there was some Corgi in there but we don't know what mix she is. Eunice was turned into a local animal control and transferred to ARM. Eunice is friendly with people, exhuberant and likes attention. She does jump up on people and needs some work on walking on a leash without pulling. She can be bit dog selective ( a bit of a guarder and defensive while in a foster home with 6 other dogs). She has been doing better with a single dog in her current foster home. Eunice needs some work on her manners but she is a nice girl that will settle into life as a great companian for someone. Her current foster home says: She can jump over the back of the couch, begs for attention a lot, can be sweet as pie, isn't signalling to go outside so needs training on that, destroys plush toys... Sounds like this girl needs an active home that will keep her mind busy and tired! The details: Needs fence: No, but we haven't tested her off leash either. Good with dogs: Mostly, can be obnoxious so needs tolerant other dog or to be an only dog. Good with cats: a little intense but did ok with cats that don't run. We would say no cats or managed well. (she is chasing the cat in her new foster home). Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. Beau is a super friendly & affectionate 7-year-old miniature Australian Shepherd. He is an active and high-energy dog which comes naturally with his breed. Because of this, he would ideally be placed with a family that can provide a yard and daily walks for him. He’s great with people and other dogs and cats. He travels well and he’s overall an excellent dog. I'm confident that as long as you are consistent as the owner, Beau will listen to all your commands. His one fault is separation anxiety— he wants to be apart of everything all the time. He must be placed with a family that can provide the attention and love he requires and deserves. Unfortunately, I’m moving at the end of the month and my new place has restrictions on dogs. I’m so sad to part with Beau but I look forward to placing him with a family that can fulfill all his needs. He's seriously the best!

Im currently working on the commands “sit” and “come here” but I can now go up and down the stairs like a champ. I’m really good at potty training during the night and will let you know when I need to go. Sometimes during the day, I miss the potty pad and go right next to it. From his foster: Meet Casanova, better known as “Nova,” “Nugget,” or “Lil’ Nuggie.” Nova arrived in MN from Arkansas on 2/15 with his 8 siblings. He is about 10 weeks old and only 4.4 lbs! That will change soon because this boy loves his food! They believe Nova is an Australian Shepherd mix so will likely end up being a medium-sized dog. Right now he is very much a puppy - he plays hard and then it’s nap time. He absolutely loves toys and other dogs. He has also been great with kids of all sizes. He is very bitey though so you’ll want to be mindful of his puppy bites around small kids. The bites don’t hurt yet but might be a bit much for a young child as he gets a little bigger. The puppy bites are pretty constant but with continued redirection and age, he will outgrow this! When he’s tired, he trades those nips for kisses and cuddles - he’s such a sweet cuddler! He also loves having his belly scratched. He is currently doing well sleeping in a bed in his crate at night. He’s still young and can’t hold his bladder all night so we have a small fenced area with pee pads he uses at night so he can relieve himself and go back to sleep. He uses this same area during the day if we have to leave. We are just starting to get him outside now since he came to MN during the extreme cold. We started off with pee pads and we find him gravitating toward the pads during the day to relieve himself. He does cry a little when we leave him but quiets down quickly. He loves his people and wants to be close to you so he will likely be your shadow. He often sleeps by our feet when working from home or follows us around the house so he knows where we are. They don’t come much cuter than this little guy!

She is learning about cats and being on a leash. She is housebroken with a dog door but was also house trained without one. She is a bit of energy so will need an active family to keep up! She is friendly and has gotten a long with other dogs of various sizes really well. She loves to play and is pure fun! She is located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders.

Mavis has been sponsored by a good Samaritan, so the adoption fee has gone down. This puppy was the last of a litter that was being given away at a local Walmart. One of the transport drivers saw her and asked us to bring her into rescue. Cold and scared, they bought her to our local clinic to be vetted and then took her to foster until we could find her a forever home. Mavis is going to make someone a wonderful family dog. Her playmates at the foster home are two huge dogs but this little girl thinks she is the big boss. She also adores the children - who range from 2 - 10 years old - and in true puppy fashion, loves to play and have all the attention she can get.
