Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxPeggy Lee is a smart and spirited mix of shepherd/herding and working breeds. She seems to be always thinking and noticing. She takes time to warm up to people, but once she does, she cannot get enough belly rubs and snuggles. Until she feels comfortable, she will “alert bark” at strangers and does not want to be approached, unless it is on her terms. But… be ready for a complete 180. Displaying kindness and patience in the first few weeks will pay off in a lifetime of affection and adoration from this lovable girl. Before you know it, you will have a snuggle buddy and loving companion. She has begun occasionally letting a gentle stranger pet her, but it takes calm encouragement from the person she trusts. With consistency and support, she should greatly improve in this area. She went from being fearful of foster mom’s boyfriend to wanting belly rubs from him, within a few visits. She loves car rides, naps in the yard, trips to the dog park, walks, and any other adventures. She would probably be a happy boating dog. She may also enjoy agility or another active sport.  Peggy Lee is crate trained! After a few mournful moments as foster mom leaves for work, she settles down in the crate, much easier than when she’s left loose in the house. She will voluntarily choose to hang out in her crate even with the door wide open. But she wants to be near her people and part of the family. Peggy Lee has so much affection to give. She wants nothing more than to love and be loved. She is easy to train, when done in a loving way. Peggy learned sit, lay down, and “paw” (to shake) in just a few days. When I tell her she’s a good girl, her tail just thumps on the floor in pure happiness. She entertains herself with chew toys and loves a good squeaker. As a strong and athletic dog, she benefits from an opportunity to run and play every day. Don’t miss the video of her zoomies with the frisbee. Peggy Lee sleeps soundly at night in her dog bed on the floor, although she would be happy be with her human in the bed as well. She needs the company of another confident and interactive dog in her home. She looks to the other dog for cues for just about everything. She will gleefully engage in play with her doggy sibling. She is overly obsessed with cats, and very vocal about it, so she needs a cat-free home. She will keep all squirrels, cats, and birds out of your yard. She will also let you know if she sees a cat out the window.  Peggy Lee really is a special kind of dog who is just what someone out there is seeking. Story
Hi, I’m Moose! I’m a herding breed mix of some kind born 10/7/23!   I am very energetic and always looking to play. I’m even good at playing by myself with my toys!  I’m friendly with everyone - adults, kids, dogs of all sizes, and cats.  Any person I meet immediately becomes my best friend!  I bark sometimes when other dogs are playing rambunctiously or when I get scared.  I like to make my foster mom laugh by talking back to her when she tells me to be quiet.  I typically prefer to be cuddled up with my people.  I am potty trained and can go several hours without an accident (while my foster mom is at work).  I sleep in my crate, and I am quiet at night.  I’ve mastered leash walking but want to sniff EVERYTHING on my walks and also will try to chase squirrels.  If you’re interested in meeting me, let me know!  I’d love to meet you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:33 pm

Story
Jenny is a mini Aussie born 4/17/21.   I also call her JJ and Jen Jen.   Jenny is still working on potty training. She doesn’t let you know when she has to go. She does use a reusable pee pad, when she does have to go. She will chew up the disposable ones. She is kennel trained and does great. The longest I’ve had her kenneled is 12 hours and she hasn’t had an accident when in her kennel. She is still getting used to my 6 year old, so I would say older kids would be best. She has been great with the other dogs she’s met. She is good with my cat although she can play rough but she redirects well.    She does good on the leash and is now great in the car. She likes putting her head out the window.  She has a high energy level so a fenced in yard would be best. She is extremely fast and hard to catch. She does have a good recall. She’s still cautious and skittish with new people.   It took her 6-8 weeks for her to trust me and can still be skittish with me. She will paw and bark at you to get your attention. She will also let you cuddle with her.   She is making progress everyday. She is not kenneled at night and I allow her to sleep in my bed. If you kennel her while you’re home she will bark and paw at her kennel door. Once she trusts you she’ll be your best friend and protector. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, dental, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. He does his best sleeping in a room with a human and is accustomed to sleeping on his dog bed, but will wander and be busy all night if allowed. Brock understands basic commands. We are working on maintaining these skills when in stimulating environments, which makes it much harder for him. Brock is a very busy mind and wound benefit from someone with skills or someone who is ready to take on training to help create a physically and mentally stimulating environment. We are focused on leash walking, focusing commands ('look at me') retrieval play, and 'leave it' commands.    Brock is very sweet and wants to be in someone's company. He loves morning snuggles and can be busy for hours playing fetch, walking, or if you are very daring- a little rollerblading. Brock would do best in a single dog home, with an active family or with a fenced in yard, as he is a high energy pup.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxPatsy is such a sweet and loving dog. She is protective of her people and home. When new people come to her home Patsy wants to let them know they are in HER house, as a working dog, this is her job. We have been working with Patsy so she can have another job when new people come over. Patsy goes into her kennel on command and has a chew toy to 'work with'. She will bark for a bit and then calm down. She then can come out of her kennel to meet the new person while on a leash. She will need to continue this training, but is a very smart dog and catches on quickly. Patsy is good with our resident dogs and cat. She would do best in a home with another very active dog to play with or with a family who will exercise her regularly. She likes to talk (bark) a lot so would not be a good pet in a home with shared walls. She gets very excited when we get ice from our refridgerator's ice dispenser. She will bark and then get a toy and swing it around until she gets a piece of ice. She looks like she is smiling the entire time. Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Updated Bio: Amy came in to rescue along with Jeff. They were in desperate need of vet care and haircuts. Now their new coats have come in and they are soft and mat-free! Amy is a 2 year old, standard aussie at about 40 pounds. She is playful and friendly once she gets to know you, but is wary at first and requires slow introductions. She is most wary of men and children. She is a bit of an attention hog, but isn't rude about it. She simply knows that people give the best snuggles and she never passes up an opportunity to get some head scratches. Her foster is taking her through obedience classes to work on her socialization and confidence building. Her perfect family would continue classes with her and take the time to do slow introductions. Story
UPDATED BIO - Dodger is a year old neutered Red Tri Aussie with lots of copper and a white blaze on his chest. Dodger's history is unknown - he was a stray that had to be live trapped. Dodger loves his people and other dogs but is somewhat nervous in new environments. Like most dogs, once he realizes he's in a safe place he becomes very outgoing and bouncy! Dodger would do really well with another dog to play with. Even though Dodger could jump a shorter fence, he made no attempt to in one of his foster homes, always staying close to his foster Mom. A fenced yard would be beneficial, though, as Dodger hasn't had enough walks yet to realize how fun they are, and his history of running makes him a flight risk. Story
Meet Sage, a nearly 6 year old blue merle male was recently returned to ARM after his owner suffered an injury that made it hard for them to meet his needs. Sage is lower energy compared to your typical Aussie, LOVES lounging outside and going for walks and "reading" all the neighborhood dog messages; he gets so excited when his harness comes out. His foster is working on getting him down to a healthier weight as he is a bit chonky now. 🙂 He likes his privacy from other dogs when he eats, has been known to resource guard. Sage is very affectionate, loyal and loving to his people, but has also been protective of his person in the presence of other dogs. He's been great with the foster's dog, as they love to wrestle out in the yard. The Details: Fence needed? No, but does need daily exercise/walks and shouldn't be off leash as he doesn't seem to have good recall. Good with dogs: Needs proper introductions; does best with neutral.dogs. Good with cats: No current exposure Good with kids: No current exposure All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Unfortunately, her foster has some upcoming obligations and cannot keep her long term, so we need someone who is willing to take her the distance. Katie will do best in a home with a four legged sibling to continue to help her grow and shine.  She loves walks and to run so would be a great running partner for someone. She enjoys toys and cuddles with the people she trusts.  If you are new to her, give her a few minutes to let her check you out.  Once she feels safe, she is yours for life. House Broken Kennel trained Walks great on a leash Good with Dogs and cats Older children over 12 are fine.  Very young kids move too much and too fast. Chin Scratches are the best Katie is a teenager who’s mastering the ropes of being a family dog, so she is still learning to just be okay no matter what sounds might be scary or that new people are just people and nothing to worry about. The perfect home for Katie will understand that a little bit of patience goes a long way, and they will find joy in seeing her personality blossom.  The right environment will see her flourish into a perfect member of the family, and her rescue community can’t wait to see her succeed. Potential fosters or adopters should be willing to invest time in building a strong bond with Katie. A gradual introduction to new experiences and people, along with positive reinforcement training. Having a confident dog in her new home would be a great benefit to her as she can learn from them to trust the humans around her. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Ukko is a handsome pup, born on 08/19/24. He is a Collie mix and so far has a silly soft medium coat that is low shed (Collies can take anywhere from 6-15 months to grow their permanent coat)! He has cute tan socks and little eyebrow beans, making his adorable face even more irresistible. This darling sweetheart is equal parts playful, silly character, and snuggle butt. He loves playing with toys, humans, his in-home pup friends (pit mix and mini schnauzer) and plays well with others.  He is very smart and quickly took to bell training for going potty outside. It does take attention and schedule, but he is doing great! He is motivated to learn by praise and treats as reward, which is so fun to work with. He is extremely food motivated! He is not at all food aggressive, but he does need to practice a bit more on manners (as he will be curious if others want to share the crumbs of their treats a he will take correction, but this could be an issue with other alpha or food-aggressive dogs).  He would do best with a fenced yard to run and also would be a great companion to another dog. He likes to play, chase, run, and pounce, and will shadow another dog as well.  He will need some work on crate training. Currently, someone is home most of the time except short periods where he is out of the kennel with our dogs. He is more comfortable out of a kennel and doesn’t like to be by himself much. He is a great in bed sleeper overnight and will jump down or notify you if or when he needs to go out in an emergency!     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $595.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 13, 2024, 9:53 pm

She needs one in her forever home Cat friendly: Yes with dog savvy cats Kid friendly: Older kids only Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes when she can see other dogs **Needs another confident dog and physically fenced yard**  Addie is the sweetest little girl you’ll ever meet! She is nervous about new people at first, but will warm up after she realizes she's home and safe. She is such a little love bug who wants to cuddle and get pets. She happily lounges on the couch in the evening, getting snuggles. She needs another dog in the home to teach her how to be confident. She absolutely LOVES her doggo foster brother and playing with him, so another dog that wants to play is a must, as she needs that kind of relationship to blossom. She would cuddle up with her cat foster sister all of the time, so as long as the cat can handle her bursts of energy, she's a doll with them! Because of her fears, she needs a securely fenced yard to live her happiest life, and you'll see a different side of her when she's outside playing! She is potty trained and does well in a kennel for a full workday when you're gone. She's the easiest little girl because of her sweet demeanor and smartness. She keeps herself busy with toys during the day, so she'd be a great companion for anyone who works from home but is not required!  Once she's comfortable with you, we think she would be really great at agility or other training, too, so feel free to put her border collie abilities to the test! She gets really scared by sudden, loud noises and fast movements, so Addie would do best in a home without little kids. Other than that, she just wants all the love she can get from her people, dogs, and cats!  Adoption Fee: $495Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME?
