You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- GUS IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.Hello, I'm Gus! I'm a sweet, mellow fellow with a playful streak that keeps me young. My curious nature means I love exploring new places and sniffing out hidden treasures. I'm brave, not easily spooked, and I'm smart, too. I've mastered all the basic commands and a few fun tricks. My loyalty runs deep; once I've bonded with someone, it's for life. I'm friendly to everyone I meet, and always ready to make a new friend. So why should you adopt me? Because I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and endless loyalty. I'm just waiting for my forever home to share all the love I have to give.Gus is neutered, and vaccinated for dhlpp, bordetella, and rabies. He has a 4DX heartworm test and microchip with lifetime registration. Gus is on monthly parasite prevenatives.   Also included in the adoption are 30 days of Pet First Pet Insurance, and Petco's Free Welcome to the Family Program. Story
Hello my name Simba! I was born at an Amish puppy mill, there was lots of other dogs there but I was one of the lucky ones that made it out. I am about a year and a half old and I only weigh 18lbs! My family got me because they have a special need son, his doctor thought having a dog would be good for him. It was good for a while... As my brother grew up he started to get really rough with me and I didn`t like that. My family decided to surrender me because they knew it wasn`t fair to me and they didn`t want something really bad to happen. Because of my experiences I really don`t like being picked up and I am a little cautious loud noises and sudden movements. I would do better in a home with older kids (over 10 years old). I did live with 2 cats and we got along just fine. If you are interested in meeting me, please submit an application.

Story
Mimi is a very sweet girl. I adopted her as an addition to my home and companion to my dog Levi and my self in April 2024. She was not spayed nor had she received any shots at 8 months old, nor was she house trained. This was also as a favor to her previous owner, a single mother of two small children who received Mimi from their father as their mother was leaving their state after divorce. However, Mimi continues to resist house training and I am experiencing some chronic pain issues due to prolonged illness and it has becoming continually more difficult to care for both dogs; additionally Mimi is intensely jealous of Levi my other dog (a ShiPoo) Mimi is twice his weight and can be very aggressive towards him and he is now showing signs of stress (not eating, blood in his stool, hiding). I’ve had to come to the conclusion that Mimi will need a new home.

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14084Name: BernieGender: MaleBreed: Australian Shepherd Mixed BreedAge: 3 years oldWeight: 51 lbsCurrent Location: Hughesville, MDAbout BernieHello! My name is Bernie! I've been told that I'm a gorgeous guy, and I was recently given a new nickname: 'Best Boy Bernie'! I LOVE people and snuggles. I've met several dogs since coming to OPH and have calmly reacted with manners and friendly respect to them all. My foster pup-sisters and I are great friends, and we love playing together! I've been a very good boy when around the cat (under close supervision). There's nothing I like better than being with my people, but I'm a very good boy in my crate too. I'm a 50-pound lap dog! Foster mom says I need to gain a bit of weight - no problem, I like food and treats. I'm a smart boy who is quickly learning basic obedience and some tricks, I like food puzzles, and I walk well on my leash! I sound pretty awesome, don't I?I arrived to OPH on 12/6 so check back soon for updates on my personality, along with new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so, please hit the apply button and let’s get our family started. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read more about heartworm disease here here

Story
AUSSIE, very active, unbelievably smart. She’s 4 years old and weighs around 25 lbs Sissy needs to be in a home with an active lifestyle. Aussie’s are incredibly smart dogs that are motivated to learn & please you. If you don’t have experience with this breed, we highly recommend you do your research before applying. Australian Shepherds need to have a job and if they don’t, they will quickly assign themselves one. From Sissy's foster mom: Sissy is a high-energy dog who would thrive in a home with at least one other dog or a highly-active owner who wants to walk her often. She loves going to the dog park and is very sociable. Having a fenced yard would be best since Sissy prefers to run around outside. She loves being brushed and loved on. She is house-broken and scratches at the door to go out. She is crate-trained and sleeps through the night. She is a very fun dog.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN.
