Story
Meet the lovely Margo, whose journey began when her mother fell victim to a car accident. Her rescuer provided tender care, bottle-feeding her until she reached independence in eating. However, during this period, Margo encountered Distemper and faced neglect in a hoarding situation with her previous foster family, before finding her way to our rescue. Despite a challenging start, Ms. Margo has exhibited remarkable resilience as a fighter. Building trust with new people may take time, understandable given her past, but once she does, she transforms into a playful, affectionate, and amusing best friend. Margo is characterized by her playful nature, intelligence, responsiveness to food/treats, and friendliness towards dogs. Fully house and crate-trained, she is ready for a family to call her own. Don't miss the chance to make Margo a part of your family! Please fill out an adoption application today through our online form: https://serendipityanimalrescue.org/pet-adoption-application/

Story
Hi my name is Niko and I’m 4 years old. My human who loves me very much and is searching for a new home for me. She wants to ensure she finds a caring environment where I will receive plenty of attention and meet all my needs. I'm an incredibly quirky and loving dog who sees the world as one big playground! I'm always ready for an adventure, bursting with energy and curiosity. My human calls me funny because I love to make them laugh with my silly antics. I’m smart and love to learn new tricks, and when the day winds down, there’s nothing better than cuddling up for some cozy moments together! Thank you for taking an interest in me.

Story
Rocket is a a mini Australian shep mix. She and her sister came from a family with 30 dogs, and she survived Parvo. Dad is a 35 lbs fluffball. Rocket weighs 28lbs and was born on 2/21/2023. She is petite and easy to manage. Rocket is a gentle and snuggly pup. While she is non-stop when playing, she also melts into your lap and will be cuddly quiet and innocent. Her favorite place is snuggled up behind her foster dad's head on the couch. A fenced yard would be perfect; Rocket loves being outside and each butterfly gets the attention it deserves! She adores other dogs, and she is a little timid meeting new people. When she meets strangers, she either barks, or becomes quiet and hides in a corner. Once you are in her inner circle, there is love and kisses to no end. Her true self shows after she builds trust. She bonds well to her people. Rocket is that expert snuggler that keeps your lap warm and is a playmate to all the newbies and puppies. Rocket's got house-training down and learned the doggie door. Leash walking requires the strength of a wrestling champion, but Rocket does love her walks! PLEASE NOTE: We review veterinary care for applicants. This includes regular well visits, core vaccinations, spay/neuter, heartworm, tickborne tests, regular monthly heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. Please contact your veterinarian’s office to give them permission to speak to us. Applications are available at www.puppypawsrescue.org If your application meets our adoption criteria, we will contact you within 1 week. At that time, you will be contacted (usually by email) to schedule a phone interview and a virtual home visit (Facetime, Skype, etc). Due to the volume of applications, applications that do not move forward to an interview may not receive a reply within that time frame.

Story
Ansel is an adorable fella - a perfect size, housetrained, with impeccable leash manners. With Ansel you have hit the trifecta! Ansel welcomes the company of other dogs and actually gains his confidence from being around other dogs. So, a home with another dog, while not required, would be a bonus. Ansel can be a bit shy around new people but, with some time and patience, he will warm up and the end result will likely be an abundance of hugs and kisses. Because he tends to bond to people, with whom he finds comfort, it is important that all members of the household offer Ansel love and patience so that his affection can be shared equally amongst all. Ansel's favorite hobbies including chewing on hard toys, playing with balls, going for walks, and snuggling on the couch. Hey that should be pretty easy to accommodate! So, if you are interested in meeting this sweet boy, HART would welcome the opportunity to conduct introductions. Just say the word. Thank you for your interest in Ansel! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17414 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Ansel, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Fairfax, VA Gus is an 4 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 40 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Gus is nervous around strangers! No children or dogs, due to his reactivity! He hasn’t been tested around cats. Several years ago, Gus escaped from the yard while someone else was watching him. A stranger found him and went to grab his collar, which caused Gus to bite the stranger. Gus is currently on gabapentin, clonidine, and Sertaline for his reactivity. His owner says that when he isn’t triggered, he is loving, loyal, smart, playful, and energetic! The owner is surrendering him because he doesn’t do well with their young children. If you think you can provide a great home for Gus, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Gus. Owner’s Contact Information: Devin at elliott.family.8823@gmail.com

Story
Holly is a female pure breed Australian Shepherd, from California. I adapted her as a puppy in February 2021. She has lived in many different environments, including a city apartment, house, and briefly on a 14 acre farm. She is mostly adapted to apartments but would love an open yard or space to run in. She is great with children and incredibly loving, friendly, and gentle. She does not need “special attention” but she does need a lot of love and affection. I have struggled to give her the best attention and care since moving to D.C. for work and separating from my partner.
