You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please read the bio of the rescue you are interested in to insure you are a match if you are a match the first step is to complete the online adoption application  Ty was originally adopted in April of 2023 from us. Unfortunately his mom moved to a condo and they said he had to go. He has learned alot and is house and pad trained. He does pretty well on leash. He is a sweet mini Aussie who is romping ready to find his furever family. This boy has lots of energy and would do best with an active family.    If you’re looking for a companion that can keep up with the kids, join your family for a hike, but then relax next to your feet at the end of the day, this may be the perfect breed for you.  Ty is up to date on his vaccines,  dewormed,  microchipped and current on preventatives. He is also neutered. If interested in possible adoption please go to www.DelawareRescue.com and complete the online adoption application   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. If you are interested in adopting please read the information here and then complete our online adoption application. One of our volunteers will contact you once the application has been processed.  If this animal is listed as a courtesy posting for another rescue please go to their website to complete the online adoption application.     November 4, 2024, 3:25 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Roulette in Boonsboro, MD. I am a very lovable, beautiful red merle girl around 2 years of age and about 50 lbs. I love to be with my human, and I connect very quickly. My foster mom must watch when she walks because I am always right there beside her. She tells me that I am like velcro, but I don't know what that is. I spent a month at Mason Dixon K9 to teach me some commands, and I'm doing well with most of them. While there, I learned how to walk very nicely on a leash, and I don't even pull! I think I'm a very good girl and my foster mom tells me that I am, so I must be. I am very quiet in the car, and I really like car rides, so please don't be afraid to take me places with you. It is important for my new family to be consistent and continue my training. If you give me an inch, I may take a mile and try to push the boundaries. Structure and a calm home are super important to me. I am still learning every day! I am not a big fan of the crate, but I will go it in more easily now than I did at first. I love to play with toys! Big toys, little toys, squeaky toys, you name it and I'l play with it. I like to play with my foster fur sister, but I play a little rough for her. I would be fine as an only dog, but I think I would get used to having a larger brother or sister. A fenced yard would be best, so I can expend my abundant energy. I have a high tolerance to physical activity, so my adopter should be physically active and be ready to play mental games with me as well. My foster mom doesn't have human kids, but I have been around some. They are very interesting to watch, but young kids overwhelm me. I think I would do best with teenagers and older. I am a herding dog and do tend to herd young children especially if they are running. I was just spayed, so I must take it easy for a little while. I am ready to find a family of my own that I can love and have them love me too. I am pretty much housebroken, but I could stand a little more work in that area. I walk well on a leash but will pull some if I see something very interesting. I LOVE walks! If you have a place in your heart for a girl that is so full of love to give and wants to be with you as much as possible, I am that girl! I would love to meet you, and if you have any fur babies already, I will need to meet them. I think I play too rough for smaller dogs. I am being fostered in Boonsboro, Maryland. Here is the application:https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to my new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Meet Lacey in MIlton! A 10-month-old female, black tri, Australian Shepherd. She is Fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. On Interceptor Plus heartworm preventative. Lacey is searching for her special person to help her shine. She will need a patient and dedicated owner to bring out her best qualities. Although Lacey is incredibly shy and is unsure of new people and surroundings, she is the sweetest and most lovable dog on the planet! She loves to snuggle and lay right up next to you. She will be your most loyal companion. Lacey’s ideal home would have a canine buddy to help give her confidence and a fenced yard (mandatory) to run and play. She even likes cats. A quiet home with no small children would be best at first as she has not been around children. She will need more socialization in different environments to encourage her to conquer her shyness. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, just unsure of new situations and people. Lacey is house trained, although she is still a puppy and can whittle a little if scared and has had too much water after playing with her buddies. She currently lives with two dogs and a cat along with her two humans, to which she is very attached. She is crated only when no one is home as she cries a lot in her crate. She would do well if her humans were home with her most of the day. Lacey would benefit from more leash time as she was initially afraid of being on a leash, so more walks will help boost her confidence. Lacey is truly a special puppy with a lot of love to give. Her foster will have a hard time giving her up! If Lacey sounds like the perfect partner for you, please start the adoption process today to give Lacey her furever home. Currently located in Milton, DE. Multiple meet and greets may be needed, so please keep distance in mind when applying for her. Breed experience is a plus. Time, patience and love are mandatory requirements for Lacey! (Lacey is a sibling to ASF Toby, currently being fostered in VA.) Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Dog Name: Alanis Breed: Miniature Australian Shepherd Sex: Spayed Female Age: Approximately 5 yrs old Weight: 21 lbs Medical Needs: None Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes Good on a leash: Yes, but still a flight risk as she is timid when out of her normal environment Energy level: Medium Need a fenced in yard: Yes, as she is still new to being on a leash and being in a home I would recommend a fence. Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes. Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: she would not be a fan If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? N/A Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Maple is a former mill mama that has spent the last 10 months with me learning that people are good. She’s a low-medium energy miniature Australian Shepherd tipping the scale at right around 21 lbs. When Maple first got here it was clear she had lived a sheltered life. She did not interact with people at all, wouldn’t come in the house, and ignored the other dogs. Since living with my crew (3 standard Aussies, a Lab/Heeler, and a Great Dane, she has learned to interact and reside peacefully with them all. While she’s cute and looks huggable, she isn’t quite there yet, and still will require a home that is willing to allow her the time she needs to become more comfortable. She is still very fearful when out of her normal environment, and for that reason she should be considered a flight risk. She comes when called and crates when told to. She does tend to chew on shoes, which is something she recently picked up when I started going back to the office. She will take pets occasionally when out free, takes them when on a leash and in her crate. She’s done well with her vet visits as long as the vet takes their time with her. I don’t know if she will ever be a cute lap dog because she’s still a bit of a work in progress when it comes to picking up and petting, but she does enjoy getting loved on and paid attention to. She also seems to prefer women to men, although she’s done okay with both in my home. She’s a fun little girl that is looking for the right home that can be patient and supportive with her as she continues to learn how amazing people can be. Story
Dog Name: Abel Breed: Aussie mix Sex: Male Age: Approx 8 Weight: 65lbs Medical Needs: Abel is heartworm positive. His appointments are February 17th and 18th at 2:00pm, at Avenue Veterinary Clinic in Milford, DE. Keeping these appointments is a condition of adoption, and adopters must live within 1 hour of Milford to ensure he can be brought back for his appointments. Abel is also blind, and was diagnosed with microphthalmia (small eyes). So long as he's given time to learn his surroundings, it doesn't affect him all that terribly. That nose leads him when his ears don't. Housebroken: He seems to be, but I keep a close eye on him and let him out frequently. Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes, tends to just lay down Good on a leash: He follows me like a docile lamb, so long as he understands which direction we're going in. Sometimes he gets bouncy, but when I stand still and wait, he settles down. Energy level: Low Need a fenced in yard: No, leashed walks will be fine Dog Friendly: Yes, with proper introductions If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? He might enjoy a friend and potential “seeing eye” buddy, but it's not a requirement. Cat Friendly? He doesn't like them running around his kennel, and while out and about, he's been interested but not aggressive. Plus, if they run, he can't exactly chase them well. Kid Friendly: Unsure, but he's so dang sweet that I bet he is If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Children old enough to understand and respect his impairments. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Abel was surrendered to a shelter in Alabama with his siblings after their owner passed away. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the shelter’s coordinator, all six of them made it out - and here the old man is, thriving and loving life more and more every single day. Not being able to see barely slows him down at all; he's hesitant going up and down steps until he feels where the next one is under his paws, but the more he does it, the more confident he becomes. Being early in his golden years, this handsome fluffer is enjoying every comfort his foster home has to offer - a warm pile of blankets to sleep on, dog beds everywhere, and no little amount of love from the humans that dote on him… maybe a little too much, but keep that between us, ‘kay? Just know that whoever adopts this boy will be so, so blessed. He's not only grateful for every little bit of affection he gets, he'll even dance for it, and there's nothing better than happy-tappy toes and a wet nose. Foster’s Location: Frederica, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) ##2270185##

Story
Bingo is a sweet dog with A LOT of energy. We have had her since she was a puppy. For the most she has gotten along well with our other two dogs. The unfortunate part of our situation is our farm animals (chickens, ducks, goats, cats) are things she tends to be too aggressive with. This particular behavior tends to rub off on the other two dogs. She would fit great in a home with another dog friend. Children are not an issue for her, at all. If anything they would be perfect to help her burn off her energy! With our busy schedules and a large family - we just do not have the time to properly dedicate ourselves to giving her the attention she needs. She is in great health and really is a loving dog. It is just the fit with our family is not ideal for her. She is house broken and kennel trained. She is not well versed in the basic commands. She will come when you call for her.
