ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14084Name: BernieGender: MaleBreed: Australian Shepherd Mixed BreedAge: 3 years oldWeight: 51 lbsCurrent Location: Hughesville, MDAbout BernieHello! My name is Bernie! I've been told that I'm a gorgeous guy, and I was recently given a new nickname: 'Best Boy Bernie'! I LOVE people and snuggles. I've met several dogs since coming to OPH and have calmly reacted with manners and friendly respect to them all. My foster pup-sisters and I are great friends, and we love playing together! I've been a very good boy when around the cat (under close supervision). There's nothing I like better than being with my people, but I'm a very good boy in my crate too. I'm a 50-pound lap dog! Foster mom says I need to gain a bit of weight - no problem, I like food and treats. I'm a smart boy who is quickly learning basic obedience and some tricks, I like food puzzles, and I walk well on my leash! I sound pretty awesome, don't I?I arrived to OPH on 12/6 so check back soon for updates on my personality, along with new photos. I’m looking for my forever family! Is that with you? If so, please hit the apply button and let’s get our family started. This dog tested positive for heartworm disease before arriving to the rescue. Heartworm disease is transmitted to a dog through a bite from an infected mosquito producing a positive test in six months. OPH will treat the dog and provide two weeks of recovery time prior to adoption. Potential adopters will receive detailed information on the disease and their role in completing the recovery process from OPH’s heartworm coordinator. With monthly preventatives, the disease is completely preventable. Read more about heartworm disease here here

Story
Mimi is a very sweet girl. I adopted her as an addition to my home and companion to my dog Levi and my self in April 2024. She was not spayed nor had she received any shots at 8 months old, nor was she house trained. This was also as a favor to her previous owner, a single mother of two small children who received Mimi from their father as their mother was leaving their state after divorce. However, Mimi continues to resist house training and I am experiencing some chronic pain issues due to prolonged illness and it has becoming continually more difficult to care for both dogs; additionally Mimi is intensely jealous of Levi my other dog (a ShiPoo) Mimi is twice his weight and can be very aggressive towards him and he is now showing signs of stress (not eating, blood in his stool, hiding). I’ve had to come to the conclusion that Mimi will need a new home.

Story
Lora Lee is a very sweet dog that is just 2 years old and weighs 42 pounds.  She is said to be an Aussie mix with some Terrier.  Whatever the mix is we think she is a most unusual and truly a beautiful girl who well with other dogs in her foster home.  She is a friend to all and apparently she is house trained as long as taken out regular. Lola Lee is crate trained but cannot be left for long hours in the crate.  She is not leash trained  but is trying to improve.   We are requesting that applicants have a fenced yard for her because she is an active girl that needs to run and play with freedom and not at the end of a leash only. This beauty loves to cuddle and be by your side like your BFF and shadow. If you have another dog that would be great for her to have a playmate that can help her wear out her energy every day.  Lola Lee is a great girl and she is going to need an active family that can challenge and meet her need for exercise and be able to keep up with her.   She is really not a dog for a retirement couple that are ready to have a more laidback dog with fewer exercise demands.  If you are interested in this girl please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 11, 2024, 7:28 pm

Story
Sweet Skye Man has come to us as one of three Aussie mix older pups that are still impressionably young at just 8 months and 19 pounds. This handsome, yet shy boy, is looking for a family that will fill his soul with love and affirmation and confidence building lessons every day. He and his siblings were raised in an outdoor kennel with little to no love and attention. They were merely fed, but yet eventually were released to our Critter Cavalry Rescue foster mom.  Skye Man  is a sponge for life lessons and he is so receptive to human touch and love.  He is the smaller pup from his litter of three that we have in our care now. He is comfortable in a crate, but needs leash training.  There's so many exciting experiences and a wonderful family waiting for him out there. All he needs to have is the moment he is discovered and someone contacts Critter Cavalry rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to ask if they can adopt him. We know that day is coming soon. He is fully vetted and neutered and ready to hop on the van to the home in the Northeast region or to just merely meet a new family in Tennessee where he resides currently. If you were interested please email us at the address we just gave.  Be sure to let us know where you live, city and state. We will be quickly responsive.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comDecember 12, 2024, 10:09 pm

Story
Meet Alice, our darling brown and white girl that has the most memorable face and sky high ears you have ever seen.   This girl was born around the middle of May and is thought to be combination of lots of breed influences.   For starters we think that Cattle Dog and Aussie might be a mixture that are dominant for her.  She is one smart little girl that adorable her foster family and all the other big dogs (several German Shepherds are her mentors and big sisters) and many foster cats are present as well in the home.  Her boundless happy puppy energy catapults her through the days as she grows in to a true beauty inside and out.  She is so playful and loving and always ready for the next BIG ADVENTURE!  She loves to chase toys and explore the backyard for new things to do and maybe a few squirrels to make friends with.  She absorbs whatever you teach her like a sponge.  Her foster mom is an excellent trainer and knows the importance of teaching manners and commands.  Her friendly nature makes her easy to meet new people and she is does not shy away from new experiences either.  She is a snuggler when she is tired and very loving as she sits beside you to watch a good TV show.  This girl will be an excellent recall pup since she is learning that now and is so eager to please and be with her humans.  If you are interested in this beauty who will grow to be a 45-50 pound girl, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   Let us know where you live: city and state when you are inquiring.
