Story
Introducing Mikey! He is very sweet but very shy. He is thought to be a mini aussie or border collie mix who only weighs 35 pounds and is 1 year 8 months old. He will need someone who will have the patience to earn his trust, he will quickly be the best friend you could ever ask for. When you look in his eyes you'll see that he really want to just snuggle in. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Mikey is crate trained and is working on potty training. He is great with other dogs and loves to play with them. Due to his skittish nature Mikey does require a securely fenced yard. Mikey is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, current on vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is only $300. Story
We rescued Olive from someone who was wanting to rehome her. We knew no details other than she needed a new home. We picked her up November 29th 2022, she way born sometime in may 2022, so shes going on 4 years old. Olive a very loyal to her people, and extremely independent. She is very weary when meeting new people and also very vocal, shes an extremely smart dog but we think she has a preexisting fear and anxiety. She is extremely sweet when she knows her people, she doesn chew or tear anything up, we can just leave her out and she does well. She doesn’t go to the bathroom in the house, she will let you know when she needs to potty. We did put her through a 8 week training course that has helped a bit but shes un walkable outside when people are around and just barks a lot when outside in general. I believe its fear based as she will lunge and bark on the leash until she can’t see them anymore. It is best if you have a fenced in backyard.

Story
We adopted Arlo last July, he was the last puppy that needed to be adopted at a petco event. He was so cute and all white we fell in love. We wanted another dog for our older dog to help train and grow with. He is 10 months old. He is super good with other dogs and just loves to play. We hope to find someone who has another dog he can be with and a huge yard to play in. He is so cuddly and good with kids. He definitely needs a job to do or good long walks if he doesn’t have another dog to be with. Unfortunately our living situation had changed and we have found no one to help take care of him during this change. We hope to find him his forever home!

Story
Meet Icarus — The Sweetest Little Cuddle Bug Icarus is a house‑trained, gentle‑hearted boy who is discovering how wonderful it feels to be loved. He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd Mix who weighs 57 lbs.  He willingly goes to his crate for meals—just be sure to have a treat handy, because he prefers choosing it himself rather than being led. He spends his days playing with his brother, Osiris, soaking up affection, and curling up beside his people whenever he gets the chance. Inside, Icarus will occasionally burst into joyful zoomies, but outside he’s a calm observer who likes to sit quietly and take in the world. He’s a true lover at heart—soft, sweet, and happiest when he’s close. He’ll gently paw at you for pets and will happily snuggle up any time of day. Icarus enjoys walks, toys, and a good bone to chew on. His playful moments with his brother are adorable, but his favorite thing in the world is simply being loved on. Because he’s easily spooked by loud noises and sudden movements, Icarus will do best in an adults‑only home or with a family familiar with herding‑breed tendencies who has respectful, calm kids around 12+. Life with humans who care for him is still new, so an experienced dog owner will be the best match to help him continue building confidence and becoming the best version of himself. His foster mom describes him perfectly: Icarus is a very sweet boy who loves love. He’s a cuddler through and through, always ready to curl up beside you and soak in every bit of affection. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be close to his person, Icarus may be your perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Meet Osiris — The Goofy, Gentle Watcher Osiris is a house‑trained sweetheart with a silly streak and a whole lot of potential. He is a 5 year old Australian Shepherd Mix who weighs 61 lbs.  He tolerates the crate when needed, though it’s not his favorite place, and he much prefers lounging on the couch where he can keep an eye on the world outside. Whether he’s watching wildlife through the window or sitting calmly in the yard taking everything in, he’s a quiet observer at heart.  Inside, though, he absolutely gets the zoomies. He loves playing with his brother, Icarus, and his goofy, playful personality shines through once he’s comfortable. His play style can be a bit mouthy, so someone who understands dog body language will set him up for success. He’s also known to steal a sock or two just to show off his mischievous charm. Osiris enjoys walks, toys, car rides, and a good bone to chew on. He walks nicely on leash—unless he spots a critter, in which case his herding instincts kick in. Because he startles easily and has typical herding‑breed behaviors, he’ll do best in an adults‑only home or one familiar with the breed and comfortable with older, calmer kids (around 12+). He’s still learning what it means to be truly loved by a human, so an experienced dog owner would be ideal to help him continue building confidence and becoming the best version of himself. He can get a little jealous when he’s getting affection and another dog tries to join in, but with guidance and structure, he’ll thrive. Osiris is the goofiest boy—silly, playful, affectionate, and full of promise. With the right person, he’s going to make an incredible companion. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities!
