We’re not sure about Veronica’s backstory, but we know that she’s likely been through a lot. It seems as if someone wasn’t always very nice to her because she shuts down in some situations. But she does want to be right with her person, following closely on their heels. We think Veronica is about 6 years old. She is a gorgeous Australian shepherd with a gentle personality. While she is recovering from heartworm treatment, she still has energy and wants to play. Veronica is deaf and has limited vision. She’s very smart and has learned several touch commands including “good girl” and “come.” She is learning to walk nicely on a leash and is housebroken. She sleeps nicely in her pen overnight. Veronica would do best in a home with a friendly dog to help give her confidence. She does not like being left alone for very long, so she’d love someone who is home most of the day. She’d love an active person because she loves to explore and go on adventures. She’d prefer a physical, fenced yard to keep her safe. Goji is the sweetest ball of fluff and positive energy. His ice blue eyes will turn your head, but his gentle, loving, and fun personality will steal your heart. Goji is a mix of Australian shepherd and Great Pyrenees, which means he’s the perfect mix of playful and chill. He loves playing with stuffed toys, particularly when they squeak. He’s learning that chasing balls is a ton of fun. Goji is good with other dogs and with cats. He is a little shy at first, but he quickly warms up. He would love to have a dog buddy but he is also really good at entertaining himself and can be very independent. Goji is doing great with potty training and is learning that his crate is a safe space. He already knows “sit” and “come” and is very willing to learn more. He loves a good doggy bed or human bed and will steal a blanket off a person so he can sleep on it. Goji requires a home with a physical, fenced yard. Bella Mae is a sweet senior Australian shepherd who came to rescue after years of neglect. She quickly blossomed in her loving foster home and is now ready to find her forever family. Bella likes to sleep, eat, and get attention from her person, always wanting to be close by. She sometimes plays with stuffed toys or pushes a ball around, but is generally pretty low-key. She loves all humans – adults and kids – and they fall in love with her as soon as they meet. She is great with other dogs but doesn’t really want them sharing her dinner or her toys. Handsome Gawain was named for one King Arthur’s valiant Knights of the Round Table. Like the legend, this puppy is loyal and courageous. Unlike the legend, his favorite things to do are play, snack, and cuddle. Gawain (the puppy) is an alluring mix of Australian shepherd, Pomeranian, and husky. He can be playful and energetic, but he has a wonderful off switch when it’s time to chill. He loves to play with other dogs, run around in the yard, and entertain himself with toys. He’s super smart and knows “sit,” “come,” and “eat!” Gawain is athletic and would likely excel at agility or sports. Gawain sleeps quietly in his crate all night and is doing well with potty training. He’s good with kids but is probably a little too exuberant for teeny tots. Handsome Martin is the perfect mix of Australian shepherd and corgi. He has the brains, the looks, and the personality. This 3-month-old puppy was orphaned with his sister when his mom died tragically. He was bottle-raised and is now a sweet and loving puppy who certain adores his people. Martin’s favorite thing to do is play with toys. He is good with other dogs and is doing well with potty training, crate training, and walking on a leash. Martin is deaf and has quickly been picking up loads of hand signals. In days, he learned sit, treat, stay, come, and kennel. He’s brilliant and eager to learn more. A yummy nougat encased in creamy chocolate to “make you feel you” as the famous advertisement states. This wonderful boy is a Aussie border collie mix. He is approximately 3 years old and weighs 60 pounds. Snickers has the kindest eyes that will melt your heart. To be honest he is struggling in the shelter. Although he is safe, knows he has delicious meals served daily and daily walks he would benefit greatly being in a foster or permanent home. Snickers is a fluffy black and white male, with white front legs and black back legs. He is very smart and is craving to be mentally and physically challenged. His breed mix desires to be trained, given commands and lots of mental stimulus. The shelter is a very loud and is over capacity so he is fearful of his current situation. Each day he improves and when he goes outside for his walks he does a cute little trot of a dance to celebrate. Snickers tail is the short stub that wiggles when he is outside smelling everything Mother Nature has to offer. So what does Snickers need?? Her owner says Spirit is a lovely dog but is not fitting in with the resident dogs in her current home, and so is available for adoption. While Spirit and the resident dogs in her current home do not get along, this does not mean that Spirit will react negatively to all dogs in general; however, a potential owner should be aware of this and that Spirit may want to be an only dog in her home. She is accepting of adults and older children, but will chase cats if the opportunity arises. Since Spirit is living in Kentucky and is not being kept on heartworm preventive, she will need to be tested for heartworm and a potential owner should make this a priority.
