Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Our beautiful April is looking for her forever home. She is an 18 month old maybe Austalian Shepard mix! She has been hanging out in a foster home learning how to be a good houseguest. April was found running the streets with another mom and some puppies. She loves other dogs, she likes to walk with other dogs and hang around the house watching tv with her foster cousin Juno, a black Lab! From her foster mom: “April is a sweetheart. She needs a young family with another pup to roll around with. She's potty trained, she loves to go on walks and observe the squirrels. She's very social once she feels comfortable with you. She doesn't like loud noises, but loves classical music. She's a kitchen dog, always wanting to know what you're doing in there...and is there going to be any chicken for her. April, like many women, has a shoe obsession. She doesn't chew the shoes but she will pick one up and carry it around. Her favorite is my rubber garden shoe. She also loves to look at herself in the mirror. I have yet to hear her bark. She was spayed the other day and I heard one little whimper that night. Otherwise, she simply laid down next to me, lifted one leg so I could see what had happened to her and give her a little belly rub. She is used to riding in the car now. I have taken her on short trips to acclimate her to the car. She starts out on the floor, but soon moves up to the sitting on the seat in back and is no longer afraid to get in or out of the car. Today, we made a quick trip to Petco to look for a toy. She was so well behaved and sweet. If you are reading this and thinking about meeting Ms. April, I guarantee that you'll never regret it. She's a wonderful girl who will be your loving and devoted pooch. She is an absolute delight.” If you'd like to meet April apply at projecthopearf.org !Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 11, 2026, 12:41 am

Story
Mario (aka Snickers) is ready for his forever home! This boy is the sweetest! In addition to being so handsome, He LOVES to snuggle and give affection. He gets along with all of the people that he meets. He adores his dog friends and is more submissive so will let someone else be in charge. He's a good boy with some basic training. He has already mastered the doggie door at his foster home and catches on to new routines and tricks quickly. Smart and handsome! We also found out that his original name was Snickers so he answers to Snickers and Mario. He's the dog with many names! He weighs 42 lbs and is about 1.5 years old. Let's find him a home for the holidays!

Story
Meet Bandit! Bandit is a handsome 1-year-old Australian Shepherd mix with big, expressive ears and a beautifully colorful coat that turns heads wherever he goes. He’s friendly and social, getting along well with both dogs and cats, and he’s already house trained—such a bonus! This energetic boy is looking for an active home where he can burn off his youthful enthusiasm. One of his favorite things in the world is playing fetch, and he’d thrive with people who enjoy spending time outdoors or engaging in fun, interactive play. Because of his energy level, Bdnait would do best in a home with older children who can keep up with him and respect his excitement. If you’re searching for a smart, playful, and loving companion to join you on life’s adventures, Bandit might be the perfect fit! 🐾💙 Stop in and meet my handsome self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $425.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8.
