Story
Jazz came into rescue when the family who originally found her on Craigslist as a companion for their docile aussie discovered that she wasn't the best fit for their family or their dog. Jazz was too high energy for their girl and it was causing her a great deal of stress so they decided she needed a home with a more active lifestyle and/or companion(s). Jazz has done well here with the other dogs. After some initial trepidation (which is completely normal for dogs who come here), she settled right in. She loves to play with the other dogs and they enjoy her as well. They are all similar energy levels so it works. Jazz is quite well behaved in the house and can transition to a calm dog in the home. She is not quite housebroken overnight though so her new family will have to continue to work with her. During the day, she has done great. I imagine as long as she is able to alert you that she has to go out, training should be a breeze. Jazz has done fantastic with our grandkids ages 6-14. She may not be a good fit for very young children though since her breed has that herding desire and may nip at heels or try to round them up. It is important that Jazz's adopter understands the breed and would not misinterpret her actions as aggression. We haven't actually seen her trying to do this to the kids but it's always a possibility simply because she is an aussie. Although aussies love to work, Jazz does not necessarily need a job as long as she has outlets to expend some of her energy. She is not a hyper dog nor is she super high energy but she does enjoy running and rough housing. She is still quite young since she was born in April of 2024 so expect puppy type behaviors and requirements. Jazz does not try to escape our yard and is semi leash trained. She will walk on one but isn't a huge fan. She may do better on a harness. Jazz rides ok but may get alittle car sick and drool if she has to go long distances. She could probably be conditioned to ride by gradually building her tolerance for distance up. Jazz is really a great dog and will make a wonderful companion for pretty much any family. Jazz saw the vet on 11/20/24 and was found to have no issues noted. She is negative on her heartworm test and her fecal check and has been started on heartworm prevention and flea control. Jazz weighed 39.3 pounds as of 11/20/24. She's a healthy girl ready to start her new life! If interested in giving Jazz her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Jazz's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Jazz based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.

Story
This is Diego. He's an 11 month old Aussie mix that needs a foster home. He was a "free dog" online and the original owners did not represent him honestly with the new owners. Things are not working out and he needs to be properly placed (after full vetting). He is scheduled dor neuter on Tuesday. We hope to have a foster in place by then. He's great with his people and FEMALE dogs. His behavior around cats is unknown because the family does not have cats. There was a pretty bad fight between Diego and the senior male dog in this family. Since the fight the family has been distrusting of his behavior around the four-year-old as well so to be safe they have kept them separate. This is why he has to go. For this reason, we do not want him fostered with male dogs until he has been vetted and properly evaluated. We also do not feel that he should be placed in a home with young children until vetting and evaluation. He's a beautiful boy and deserves a happily ever after. We can help him find it!! It may well be he just needs his testosterone to be taken care of. Many dogs settle down after neuter and it's never fair to these animals when the original owners do not divulge all the information to the new owners. We feel this is a combination of situations that has just worked against Diego. Foster application can be filled out through this link: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/31711/generic If you fill out a foster application please give our director a heads up as we do not have a volunteer readily responding to applications at this time. It helps us to know that one has been submitted. You may text Aspen at 352-843-6858 ##1357659##

Story
Charlie is a good boy. He has a lot going for him!! *Basic obedience *Housebroken *Good with kids *Good with dogs *Neutered *Up to Date on Vax *Australian Shepherd mix Charlie really doesn't have any strikes against him. But there are a few NO-NO'S for Charlie... he is a high-energy herding breed and NOT appropriate for the very young children he lives with. He hasn't done anything wrong but the family is wisely identifying the problems BEFORE they escalate (which they WILL once the children walk and run). Charlie is also not good around cats and small animals. Those are his limitations and we can respect that. He is currently living with two children (under 2) and needs to be rehomed or taken into a reputable rescue. Our rescue has no available foster homes... but what we CAN do is share Charlie's story. We can also assist by screening potential adoptive families and representing Charlie through our adoption search engines. We offer Charlie an "umbrella" of sorts. We want to help and this is how we can. Please submit the dog adoption application, linked below, if you would like to be considered: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/31712/generic This is a bit of a "post script rant" but it needs to be said... It's always so important, when properly placing a dog, to not set the dog up for failure. And most importantly... keep everyone SAFE. It is for this reason that we embrace surrendering owners. It is not our place to disparage them. We exist in the utilitarian capacity of HELPING THE ANIMAL. We cannot and do not serve the animals if we waste our time and energy pointing fingers and shaming owners. We want to fully support that animal in their important next step. And we must all be on the #sameteam if we are to accomplish that. Located in Ocala FL ##1860812##
