Story
Freya is seeking a calm and predictable home with mature adopters. She was stressed by young children in her last home so HSBV will only rehome her to families with children over the age of 14. She may enjoy casual recreation with like-sized dogs, but is required to be the only dog in her next home. As a mature female, meeting lots of new dogs isn’t her idea of fun. Lastly, she’ll appreciate an adopter who uses positive reinforcement training for a cooperative relationship, where she is invited up rather than scooped.

Story
Meet Poppy! She just arrived in Colorado 10/21 She is 9 years old and about 40lbs, will have more details on weight in a couple of weeks after her spay which is scheduled at the beginning of November. She cannot be adopted out until she is spayed. Poppy is a female purebred Aussie - She along with 6 others came from a breeder who recently shut down. They all lived outside their whole lives in Texas in large kennel runs. So being in a home is new to her. She has been kenneled with four other females and is currently living with a female in her foster home. If a potential adopter has a male dog she will need to be introduced to make sure they can get along. She is dog friendly and very shy but still does well with people. She is pretty shut down right now but the foster family is helping her come out of her shell. She will need quite a bit of work to get her to be comfortable and confident. Due to living outside her whole life, she is still learning how to love being inside, walk on leash and crate training. She will need a patient owner to show her life outside of a kennel isn't so scary. She is a very sweet girl that is slowly opening up! She is already adjusting to being inside and she seems to enjoy getting into her crate, it is her own little space. Leash training is going to take quite a bit of work. The foster family is working on this but it is something that will likely need to continue to be worked on after adoption. Since she is an older gal who has been used for breeding the foster family expects her to struggle with incontinence as she continues to get older. This is typically very manageable but we want all potential adopters to be aware of it. Comes with 2 free dog training sessions and fully vetted

Story
Hero is the hero we all need! Hero has come such a long way since entering his foster home.  He was very scared and unsure at first, but with some encouragement he has gained a lot of confidence. He is unsure with new people but warms up pretty well and is sure to be your velcro dog once he trusts you. He is a big lover like a teddy bear, he loves to cuddle.  Hero does great walking on a leash and loves to learn new things. He knows how to sit, stay and some oter basic commands, he is a smart boy! Hero is potty trained and crate trained! I have 2 small dogs of my own and he has gotten along with them well, he likes to tease them to get them to play with him and they chase eachother around. He loves to play with toys, tug-o-war is his favorite. He sleeps in his kennel at night like a little angel. Hero is the best boy!   ##1981545##

Story
Monkey is a 20 lbs, 1 year old guy. While he looks like a bearded collie, he is actually an Australian Shepherd/Cairn Terrier mix. Monkey likes to monkey around. He doesn’t climb trees though, nope that’s not his style. Monkey climbs fences! He’s a master of it! Although, he tends to do it just to get where his person is. Monkey bonds very hard to his human and would very much appreciate a person looking to bond with him. He’s dog and cat friendly, but little humans and strangers are scary for him. Monkey is working on his leash skills but for now a securely fenced in yard is required because leash cv walks aren’t his jam. At 1 year old, Monkey hasn’t seen much of the world yet. He was raised in the same home as his canine mom, dad, and siblings since birth and is just learning about life outside of his home now that he’s in foster care. Monkey is looking for a patient, affectionate, human that’s home often to spend time with him. Monkey is in foster in Fort Lupton, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/monkey. Story
Nala is a sensitive, 3 year old, mini Aussie. She’s petite at only 28 lbs! Nala is looking for a multi-dog home. She adores kiddos and warms up pretty quickly to women. Men are scary for her, so an all female home (male kiddos are fine) would suit her beautifully. She will take a patient human that will love her while she settles in. Once she does, she loves to snuggle and you can bet she will join you up on your bed at night. Nala is great with dogs and derives her confidence from them. She also needs a fenced in yard and a doggie door. Nala is being fostered in Brighton, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/nala/. Story
Miss Kahlua is ready to get the party started! This high energy, compact, Aussie/Spaniel mix comes in at a whopping 35 lbs at only around 2-3 years old. She knows nothing of the concept of personal space, BUT she has a giant brain and is eager to learn and please her peeps. Kahlua will do well in an active, adventurous home. She’s dog friendly and would also benefit from a young, playful dog to help tire her out. Kahlua seems house trained at her foster home and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She’s NOT a fan of staying in her crate during the day while her foster parents work and she will verbally complain about that a bit, so she’s best suited in a home without shared walls. A large yard for games of fetch is more her jam. Kahlua is being fostered in Greeley, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/kahlua/. Story
Zippity Zep Da! Zep is a 2-year-old, parti-eyed, Aussie mix. He is a stunningly beautiful boy that boasts brains, too! Zep is around 45 lbs. He’s food motivated and catches on quickly to routines and commands. Zep is good with most dogs (he comes on a little strong and some dogs find that rude) and he is absolutely certain that every human he meets is a long lost friend. Zep is a happy, active guy. He’s doing well in his foster home with his house and crate training. While he has a strong prey drive, he doesn’t seem to mind the house cats he lives with. A squirrel, well, a squirrel brings out his bonkers and he will take you down going after one. Zep is best suited in a home with a privacy fence, another playful dog, and older kiddos. He has a keen eye for a door opening and loves a game of chase, so young kiddos in and out are likely not a good idea. Zep is being fostered in Edgewater, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/zep/.
