Story
This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation WAIVED if picked up in TN, $100 plus transport fee for out of state adoptions. Meet Burt, a joyful, goofy and lovable mixed breed pup looking for his forever home! Burt is just over one year old and weighs in at 53 pounds. With his possible Australian Kelpie and Mountain Cur heritage, Burt brings a perfect blend of playfulness and smarts. In a familiar environment, he's a happy medium-energy dog who enjoys making his humans laugh. One of Burt's most endearing habits is his "yoga" pose, where he stretches out with his legs behind him. It's a sight that never fails to bring a smile! He has a particular fondness for squeaky toys, often carrying them around like prized possessions. Burt has gone thru a basic training course with his foster, leaning commands like Sit, Down, Place and going into his kennel on command. He is housetrained and has even started ringing bells on the back door to signal when he needs to go out. His crate training is impeccable, making him a great companion for someone who needs to be away during the workday. This charming pup loves belly rubs, ear scratches, running with other dogs, and digging for critters in the yard. While he can be timid around new people, especially men, he warms up quickly with treats and the presence of other dog friends. Although he's not a fan of cats or livestock, he would thrive in a home with a similarly energetic dog. Burt had a tough start in life. He was brought to us injured after being shot in the face, and there are still some bullet fragments lodged there. This makes him breathe (and snore) loudly and sometimes gives him a runny nose, but otherwise, he is not affected by his past injuries. Burt is looking for a loving home with a fenced yard where he can safely play and explore. His ideal family would be patient and willing to continue his training, helping him learn new tricks and build confidence. Burt's resilience and loving nature make him a truly special dog ready to bring joy to his new home. Meet this dog at Petco on Saturday, Nov 16th from 1-4 pm CST at Petco, 377 W. Jackson St #11 Cookeville, TN 38501.   Interested in adopting? Story
Mr. Max needs a new foster, foster to adopt or adopter ASAP! His foster is travelling and cannot fit Max with her 2 dogs. Mr. Max is a GORGEOUS 8 yr old, Australian Shepherd or possibly an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. Mr. Max came to ASF after his owner passed away and the family could not care for him due to health issues. Max lived in his home alone for approx. 1 month being checked on daily. We have no idea if Max witnessed his owner's passing. Mr. Max is good with other dogs and after a few weeks in foster is finally playing with the foster's 1 dog, although the other is not a fan of Mr. Max. He is utd on vaccines, on preventatives, microchipped and was neutered (in the last few weeks. The best foster or adopter for Mr. Max will be someone who can continue his training. Someone with patience that believes an old dog can learn new tricks! Mr. Max is a strong leash puller and is reactive (not aggressive) in the yard and on leash to other dogs and people. He is mistrusting of new people until he has a chance to settle down and meet them on his terms. We do not know if he was just sheltered or if this is trauma from his owner's passing. Max is also quite vocal, so a home in the country or with some property and no close neighbors would be ideal. However, he is improving and lessening his barking. Mr. Max is also in the process of crate training and is getting better every day. When Max first came into ASF he was intact and marking in the home. That has ceased with his neuter, but he may try it in a new home at first. It's nothing belly bands can't handle until he is comfortable. Mr. Max has not been exposed to cats or children. Max would be good alone or with another dog. He is a good boy at the vet, but nervous in the car so he needs to be crated or tethered. Max's ideal home, foster or adopter, will have a fenced yard and the time and patience to continue his training. This senior boy still has years of love to give!! Will you be Mr. Max's forever? Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. If you are interested in fostering:https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/foster

Story
Meet Brody, a 7 year old Aussie mix that is being foster in NJ! Brody is a handsome, outgoing mature mountain man! He is looking for an outdoorsy person to provide him with love and attention he needs. Brody could easily carry his own supplies on a camping trip. Brody is 100 lbs blue merle with a copper trim, one blue & brown/blue eye! Brody gets along with other dogs but does want to be the dominant male in the household. He loves car rides and is well behaved on vet visits. Brody loves to be outside! Brody is crate trained and could benefit from training reinforcement. Brody has shown some signs of resource guarding at his foster and could use training on management. Brody will not be placed in a home with small children.
