Story
Rex is a great little one year old dog who finds himself looking for a furever home. He is currently in Texas but if we find a foster or pre-adoptive home for him, he can catch a lift to Wisconsin around Nov. 11th. He loves people and has been fine around kids as young as 5. He does fine with dogs and ignored the cats he has met. Rex was being trained as a service dog but due to some personal issues that came up in the family, they could no longer keep him.   He is about 60 lbs.    His $200 adoption fee will cover his neuter, heartworm test, arabies and distemper vaccines, and microchip. You can find an application for him on our website, www.newleashdogrescue.com ##2559008##

UPDATE on 10/8/25, Lacy tested positive for heartworm. She will begin treatment, and will benefit from a foster or adoptive home who can provide her with a quiet environment during this treatment. She will need restricted activity and her family would need to coordinate with our vet for her medications and infusion dates. Meet Lacy! Lacy is approximately 6 years old and is thought to be a possible Australian Cattle Dog type mix. Lacy, along with over 80 dogs, was removed from a property in WI before coming to our facility. Unfortunately, Lacy lived in horrendous conditions and will be needing a family who understands her recent trauma and is patient with her during this transition. She is incredibly sweet, OK with being handled, and loves humans, so that's definitely a plus! What she will need help with is basically the dynamics of living as a beloved pet. This could include things like leash walking, car rides, and exploring the outside world. Lacy is obviously used to being housed around other animals, including other dogs and small animals. Because of this, we think she'd likely prefer a home with other animals as she finds comfort being around her housemates here at the shelter. So far, she is doing great in her kennel at the shelter and will likely adjust well in a new home if she has an area she can decompress and resort to if she needs some quiet time. This darling little dog has been through so much already, but she's going to blossom even more once she has a family to call her own who can give her consistency, patience and love. We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved. Please fill out the following PDF Application and email to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 Lacy will be fully vaccinated & spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $200.

Story
UPDATE: Their foster mom says they are affectionate, listen to commands well, they don't display resource guarding and are not destructive. While they are a bit verbally reactive to other dogs on leash, they do well around other family members' dogs and basically ignore them when they share space. (Barrier reactivity is incredibly common, especially in the bossy herding breeds). While at the foster family's farm setting, Buck & Jojo were described as the easiest fosters they've ever had! (they were both raised on a farm). While at the foster family's more suburban home, they faced some challenges as the city life was not a setting that these two are used to, but they're adjusting as best they can and learning every day! They're used to being kenneled and do well with that whenever they need structure, or if strangers come into the home and their protective nature kicks in. Original Bio: Let us introduce you to Jojo (brown & white female) and Buck (black and grey male). Jojo & Buck are 10.5 year old Heeler mixes who were surrendered because they got ahold of some chickens. They had lived on the same farm/with the same family since they were 10 weeks old, so understandably, the shelter environment was incredibly confusing for them when they first got here. They lived mostly outdoors, but did come inside the home as well. They're friendly with people and other pets, they simply cannot live where they'd have access to chickens. (and they do seem to have a bit of a workup when they see tiny dogs, which could be their natural prey drive) Both Buck & Jojo are adjusting SO well to the shelter life! They were a bit shy at first, but now they're outgoing, funny and playful! They both keep their kennels clean and wait to potty until they're outside. They love their dog beds, they love going for walks with our volunteers, and they enjoy time outside together. Both are treat motivated and already know basic commands! Both are super spunky and will keep you giggling every day! They have such big personalities and are incredibly affectionate. We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been approved. Please fill out the following PDF Application and email to monroecountydogshelter@gmail.com https://www.co.monroe.wi.us/home/showpublisheddocument/35564 Their combined adoption fee has been sponsored! They are both fixed and current on vaccines.

Story
Hi, I'm Cash! I'm a 2-year-old male heeler. I am current on my vaccines, neutered, and soon to be heartworm tested and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, Curious, Affectionate Words from Cash's foster mom: Cash is doing great in our home! He is fantastic with our dog and family. It is incredible to see how much things have changed for Cash in just one week. He went potty in the house the first two days, but he's done perfectly since then.?? We could hardly get him in the door that first night, and now he's coming up to us for pets and licks. He loves the crate and spends most of his day in there, but he relaxed outside of the crate for a little more than an hour the past two evenings. We bring the crate into our bedroom every night, and he loves sleeping in the same room. He is still skittish from time to time, but overall he seems happy and comfortable. I was brought to CRHS after being rescued from a large scale animal neglect case in Juneau County where around 80 other dogs were saved. Due to my rough start, I am a bit of a shy guy. I would appreciate a calm living environment and my forever family will need to be willing to take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'm super friendly and affectionate. I'll be a lap dog in no time! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 7/10 Housetraining Status: Foster family says after a couple of days he does well!! I should do well in a home: Due to my nervous temperament any children in my potential home will need to be 5 years or older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Getting affection, going for walks, and enjoying the outdoors! Things I need work on are: Learning what everything is in this big world is/learning how to be a dog, basic commands. My adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Hi! My name is Statler I am a 6 months old, (soon to be) neutered heeler mix. I am microchipped, (soon to be) heartworm tested and current on my vaccines. 3 words that describe me: Friendly, playful, loyal Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: “Typical puppy, shy at first but warms up nicely” “Sweetie” Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10) 8- still has puppy energy Housetraining Status: Working on it, needs training. I should do well in a home: I should do well in a home with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. I have never met a cat before so my humans don’t know how I will be around them. I would do great in homes with children of all ages. My favorite activities are: I like to play with my siblings and my toys. Once I’m comfortable I like to explore and follow my nose. Things I need work on are: Learning more basic commands and housetraining Any special needs: None Doggy day out notes: "Statler did SO well on his day out! He was a little hesitant with the car rides, but as the day went on he just laid down in the back seat and chilled. He loved going on walks and playing in the snow. He also loves meeting new people and his personality definitely comes out when he is getting attention. Overall, he’s an AMAZING dog and I hope he finds a great home :)" "Statler did great on his day out! He was scared at first, but warmed up to us in no time. He loves playing in the snow, cuddling, and getting treats. He was awesome with the only downside being that he had a hard time trying to do tricks!" "We went on a walk where we passed some adults and a reactive dog and did not react back. He spent several hours napping. Does really well in the car, lays down immediately. Is friendly and immediately went over to say hi to my roommate." On another doggy day out I got to go on a nice hike! I was described as being playful, friendly, gentle, affectionate and good with children. Daycare Status: I haven’t attended daycare yet, maybe some day. My adoption fee is: $350 Training Requirement if applicable: $100 training deposit that will be refunded after proof of completion of a dog training course of your choosing. *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Hi there, my name is Tigger! I am a 6-year-old male heeler. I am current on my vaccines, and soon to be heartworm tested, neutered, and microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Shy, Loyal, Friendly Things Tiggers foster has to say about him: Tigger is the easiest and best dog! He is confident, calm, sweet and knows commands! He doesn't mind when I touch his belly, paws or any other body parts. He does not have any guarding behaviors that we've noticed and he plays wonderfully with our 2 small dogs. Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 6 or 7/10 Housetraining Status: With a consistent routine, my foster mom says I am fully potty trained! I should do well in a home: Due to my shy and skiddish nature any children in my potential home will need to be 8 years or older. I am required to meet any and all dogs in the household before adoption. I ignored the cats in my previous home. My favorite activities are: I like sitting in a calm environment with my human and getting affection. Things I need work on are: My foster says I'm already pretty perfect but, I am a smart guy and could always learn new tricks! Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: "Tigger did super on his DD outing! He loved being out and exploring the great outdoors! He is a bit shy but once he warms up to you, which is quick, your his favorite person and loves your company! I have no doubt that he will thrive in a home setting. Love this boy💙" "Tigger did amazing on his DD outing! This was his 2nd outing with me and was more comfortable being out and around me. Tigger likes calm, quiet environments and going to places with very little activity. He is alot of fun getting to know and he I would love to see him out on more outings with other volunteers. That would be good for him💙" My adoption fee is: $300 *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal
