Meet Onyx: The Ultimate Companion & Professional Couch Sidekick 🐾 If you’re looking for a dog who already knows the ropes, has mastered the art of house manners, and lives for a good belly rub, meet Onyx. At 8 years young, Onyx is a "soul dog" looking for her second act. She found herself at the shelter through no fault of her own after her long time owner passed away, and she is so ready to find a new person to devote herself to. Why you’ll love Onyx: • The Best Houseguest: She is fully housebroken and has impeccable manners. No puppy chaos here—just a sophisticated lady who knows how to relax. • Social Butterfly: Onyx hasn’t met a stranger yet! She greets everyone with a wagging tail and a hopeful look for some affection. • Excellent Communicator: She’s a smart girl who will politely let you know when it’s breakfast or dinner time. No need for an alarm clock when Onyx is around! • Low Maintenance: Her favorite hobbies include leisurely neighborhood walks, followed by her absolute favorite activity: laying right at your feet while you work or relax. • Gentle Soul: She has zero prey drive, meaning she’s a calm companion on walks and isn't interested in chasing the local squirrels. Onyx is a refined lady who appreciates her peace and quiet. Because of this, she’s not into the "paparazzi" energy of puppies or high-energy young do

Story
https://foha.org/pet/doris/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Doris — and like my name (which means gift in Greek), I bring something special to those lucky enough to earn my trust. I’m confident, smart, and beautiful, with a sassy streak that comes from knowing exactly what I want. I’m not afraid to share my opinions, but I’m also affectionate, playful, and love a good cuddle once we’ve bonded. My favorite things? Splashing around in my pool on hot days, tossing around stuffed toys, going for walks, dressing up in fun costumes, and curling up in soft blankets. I enjoy companionship, but I also value my independence and appreciate having time and space to do my own thing. I like to feel in control of my space and belongings — especially my food — but I’m making great progress with people I trust. Because I’m still a work-in-progress, I’m looking for an experienced adult-only home with no other pets, and minimal visitors. I need a calm, structured environment and someone patient who will go at my pace when it comes to introductions and building trust. If you’re the kind of person who appreciates a one-of-a-kind companion and is willing to meet me where I’m at, I just might be the gift you didn’t know you needed. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I prefer to be the only pet in the home. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Not recommended — I’m happiest as your one and only. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: Best suited for an adult-only home. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: Not listed – but I’m smart and independent, and I thrive with consistent structure and clear boundaries. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I’m fully housebroken and like to keep my space clean. A calm, structured routine helps me feel safe and at home. THINGS I LIKE: My kiddie pool, stuffed toys, cozy blankets, dressing up in costumes, quiet environments, going for walks, and forming bonds with patient people. THINGS I DISLIKE: Strangers, being rushed, sharing my space or food, and chaotic environments. I do best with experienced, respectful handlers. FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS: https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies/ ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag starter food, 1 month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical procedures as recommended by our vet. Doris is sponsored by: Laura Dove - I hope you find your forever home soon. Check out all of the dogs available at Friends of Homeless Animals! https://foha.org/pet-adoption/find-a-dog/

Story
https://foha.org/pet/jasper2024/ HELLO EVERYONE! I'm Jasper! You might've known me as Jekyll, but I am loving my new name change! I'm now JASPER and I have a new outlook on life. I've learned a lot about myself and I want to move forward and start my journey of finding a home of my own. My journey began as a stray, but luck turned in my favor when I was rescued and brought to FOHA. I have a lot of past to leave behind but even more future to look forward to! No one will truly know what I went through in my past but trust is something that I need to work on with new people. I'm a little head shy when unfamiliar hands come near me, but I do warm up pretty quick! My friends here can rub me all over and I just LOVE it. I just need one of my friends to help introduce me to new people and show me the way! My new name, Jasper, means treasurer or bringer of treasure. I like this because I want to be YOUR treasure! Playful and sweet, I'm ready to be the source of joy and love in your life. I would do best in a home with a friendly but fairly chill female dog, as I love playing chase with other dogs but I'm not into wrestling. I would be happiest in a home without small animals or young children. If you're in search of a loyal companion dedicated to spreading happiness, look no further - I'm your guy. Let's embark on this new journey together, creating wonderful memories along the way. Come meet me, Jasper, and let's forge a loving bond that will last a lifetime. Aspen is about 1 year old and weighs about 32 lbs. We think she is a Cattle Dog/Husky Mix (just a guess). Aspen has been a great mom to her 5 puppies and now it is time for them all to find their forever homes. Aspen will require an experienced adopter. Aspen is a shy and timid dog who will take time to warm up to a new home. She is great with the resident dogs in her foster home and will require another young and playful dog in her forever home. Aspen would do best with children 7 years and up. Loud noises and unpredictable movements startle her. Aspen is quite energetic and very smart. Aspen is still settling into life in a home and when startled she does look for an "out". She will quickly run and hide but will then relax when she sees there is no danger. Aspen will need another young, confident and playful dog in her forever home to help build her confidence. Aspen will be is spayed on January 19th, she is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Aspen's heartworm treatment will begin in February. The Adoption Fee is $375.00 ***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue*** ***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Story
We adopted Cali two years ago from a local rescue when she was a puppy. She is a sweet dog to those she likes. Cali is a shy and anxious dog who bonds strongly with our family and loves to cuddle. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She has had three weeks of professional training as a puppy and knows her commands. She walks well on leash and responds to training cues. She also has a platform that she will place on when told. Cali definitely has anxiety and seems fearful of others. We love her so much and we have tried for over two years but we realize that we are not able to handle her aggression. She has bit before and has tried attacking our cats. She also resource guards her food and toys even with our son. We do have a muzzle when we have company. We are hoping to be able to find her an experienced owner who can give her the help she needs. It would be best if she wasn’t in a home with small children or other pets. Comes with her crate, bed, food, and collar. DNA done.
