Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hale has been with foster caregiver for over a year now. He has always lived outdoors, and is satisfied with having a fenced area all to himself, although he does tolerate visits from other canines. He is lovingly called “Old Man” and even though he can be crotchety, he has had a rough time and we forgive him. (Hale recently lost his human, and was one of eight working dogs left behind. The others have found homes with adopters or rescues, but Hale has a tough time adapting.)   The teens in this family have spent time working to befriend him, and have seem him happy and wiggly as well as the “don’t touch my backside” side of him. We would love for him to find a home with a farm, where he can work if he wants to, and hang out if he wants to. He does not need to be in a home as he has always been outside. He did visit another home for about two weeks, and we hoped it might work as a Forever situation, but unfortunately, old man focused on the rabbits who lived in the house, and all he could think about was pursuit. He was doing well with his house training in the time he was there, so we feel like if an outdoor home is not necessarily ideal, he could live in a house if he wanted to as long as he had access to the outdoors.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 7, 2024, 11:06 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.UPDATE: It has taken a couple weeks, but our boy Milo has new-found confidence and LOVES being walked and taken out for adventures now. He is a chunky little fella, who has become very rotund as the days go by. He loves attention now, going for long walks, and playing ball in the playyard with the volunteers. He appears to be housetrained, loves children, and would love to be adopted.      Milo is one of the most submissive dogs we have had come through in a while. He is a good looking boy, but has no confidence with the shelter surfaces, new people, or new situations. We are sad for him, because at his young age, he has such potential for being a happy cuddly boy. Our volunteers are spending time with him, encouraging him to come out and walk, but have had no luck thus far. Hopefully, his luck will soon change.   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the "Animals" tab on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty.org. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2025, 9:00 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Active like all ACD's, this boy refuses to let life get him down!  He is at the shelter after being in a home where he probably did not receive the enrichment needed for an ACD. We know he likes to bark at other dogs because he wants to be involved in everything they do.  He did well today for his neuter appointment and we were happy that he is heartworm negative and showed no positive antibodies for tick borne diseases. His surgery was routine and his vaccines and microchip are updated and ready to go. Interested in a lively boy that needs love and training? Here you go!   PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. For questions about the pet, please email us at FOACinfo@gmail.com. Story
Greetings from Sammy! This handsome boy has two modes: snuggle mode and walkie mode. Sammy spends most of his time at at the Center lying on the bench in his room people-watching, wondering which lucky human will pick him to call their own! With staff he waits patiently to be included in someone's walk, and when someone finally comes in, he greets them with happy tippy taps and face kisses. He's such a cuddle bug and loves butt scratches the most. Second to that, he loves going for relaxing walks to spend time with his friends. Sammy with his short and stout stature, show-stopping eyes, and sweet quiet demeanor has become a favorite office dog of a couple of our managers here at LHS. Here's what one of them said about him: "Sammy is the perfect companion dog. He loves to nap and hang out but still has a sparkle in his eye for playing gently with his toys! When I leave my office and come back, he's so excited to see me and wiggles, but never makes a peep when I'm gone because he loves his comfortable spaces. Sammy is the epitome of a chill dog and anyone would be lucky to take him home!" Stop by to meet Sammy today or email adoption@lynchburghumane.org or foster@lynchburghumane.org if you'd like to give him a break from the shelter!

Story
Hello! re home my Aussie named Pete. He will be 2 years old in June. This has not been an easy decision for me, as I have had him since he was 3 months old. But ultimately, I think this route is the best option for him. I don't have the time or experience to give him the best life he deserves. Overall he's an incredibly sweet and good natured dog. Has never shown any aggression towards me or anyone he's come in contact with. He just wants to be active and be near his people. He does need more training, and needs work with pulling on his lead during walks. He would do best with an experienced owner that has a ton of time to work with him to keep him mentally and physically enriched. He lives with two cats that do not like him, and while he's never been aggressively mean to them, he wants to play with them and they don't like that. Pete would make a great addition to a very active family that has the time and energy to help make him the great dog I know he can be.
