BILINGUAL POOCH  Estimated DOB 10/29/19, weight 55 pounds Hello!  My name is Lucas, and I was abandoned at a vet clinic where I was tied to the front door.  Fortunately, the clinic found a client who agreed to take me in and foster me. The vet helped get me hooked up with an adoption program, so here I am, a HOPE dog now! I love playing with balls and squeaky toys, going running with my foster mom’s neighbor, and sunning in the backyard in nice weather. I like to play with other dogs, but I like to wrestle. It looks/ sounds rough, so I may be better as the only-pet child. I'm a smart boy who already knows "sit." I'm crate trained, bilingual, and ready to snuggle with you! Arrange to meet me today! HOPE ID: D23-0211-0010 If you are interested in Lucas and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. If you have questions prior to filling out the application, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you.  September 8, 2024, 11:13 pm

GREAT FAMILY DOG  DOB 11/1/18, weight 65 pounds Hey there, everyone! I’m Kodi, a sweet, loving, and playful red Australian Stumpy-Tail Cattle Dog mix. (This is an AKC breed that is NOT an Australian Cattle Dog with a docked tail.) We are a naturally bob-tailed breed that stands square with plenty of leg-length under our bodies. My hooman mom describes me as “a great family dog” because I get along great with adults, kids, cats, and other dogs. You name it, I’m easy to please. Like my brother Gordo, I can’t get enough of playing fetch, and I’m an expert at focusing on the ball. I should be an Astros outfielder! After a rousing game of fetch, I enjoy being a couch potato with Gordo. I pride myself on my dedication to guarding my foster home.  When my owner died, a relative gave me to my new mom. She loves me, and I do fit in great here, but unfortunately she is under the threat of eviction and wisely is trying to find me the perfect forever home that I deserve. Do you have room in your heart and hearth for a big, burly, and handsome red man who will love you 200%? Then arrange to meet me, and let’s begin writing a new chapter in our lives together! Incidentally there are advantages to adopting an adult dog like me. I have perfect house habits and won’t chew or destroy your stuff. HOPE ID D24-0316-0006 If you are interested in Kodi and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt from us but it initiates contact with us and gets the process started. Story
ALL-AROUND GREAT COMPANION DOB 8/28/23, weight 39 lb. Hey there, everyone! I’m Willie, a sweet, friendly, and affectionate Cattle Dog/ Black Lab mix who loves spending quality time close by my hoomans. In my quiet way, I want to be wherever Foster Mom is. I’m sociable with people who want to engage, but I don't annoy or demand hooman attention. I’m a handsome dude who’s as fantastic on the inside as I look on the outside! I’m playful when it’s playtime, but I settle down and happily chill out at Foster Mom’s feet while she reads. I quietly sleep at the end of her bed and snuggle next to her thigh on the sofa as we binge together on Animal Planet and Netflix. I walk well on a leash and really enjoy long walks in the neighborhood so I can sniff and explore new things. I’m smart and eager to please, so I’m easily trained and catch on quickly. I’ve got the compact build and head of an Cattle Dog, but my short, smooth black coat with white locket and vest indicate that Lab blood is probably also coursing through my veins. Since Cattle Dogs are herding dogs, we’re in our groove when we’re given a job to do that engages us both mentally and physically. With our boundless energy and keen intelligence, we excel at dog sports like agility and make excellent running partners. To keep us out of mischief, our hoomans should avoid allowing us to get bored! A Good Samaritan found me as a stray who was probably dumped on the side of the busy Grand Parkway in front of the PetSmart in Richmond. She posted on FaceBook that she had found me, but no one responded. After bouncing around to several homes for my first few days post-rescue, I was ecstatic when my future foster mom stepped up to the plate and agreed to foster me. I haven't been tested around kids, but I'm probably young and gentle enough to live happily in a home with small children. I'm the only dog in my foster home, but I'm friendly when I meet other dogs on my walks (and tug on my leash when I see a cat that I want to chase). Now I’m ready to find my forever home. If you’re looking for a true-blue loyal buddy who’s an all-around great companion dog, I’m your man! Arrange to meet me today! My heart has so much love to give – all I need is YOU! HOPE ID D24-0810-0029 If you are interested in Willie and would like to fill out a Dog Adoption Application, please go to: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php . GIVES MUSHY PUPPY KISSES Est. DOB 7/1/23, weight 25 lbs. Hi! I'm Poppy, an affectionate, playful, and energetic Australian Kelpie/ German Pinscher mix gal who’s also very sweet and gives lots of kisses. I've got the ears and build of the Australian Kelpie, who was bred to herd sheep, but I'm the size and colors of a German Pinscher. I’m an outgoing, sociable pooch whom many people wanted to pet recently when I rode around in the shopping cart at Home Depot. Did I mention I LOVE getting petted -- especially on my belly? Nothing makes me happier than interactively playing with my pawrents with double-tug rope-toys as well as marathon games of Frisbee. I’m a happy, wiggly gal who loves zooming around the yard. I like to chew on things -- mostly bones and my squeaky toys. My foster family works out in their garage, and I haven't quite gotten the hang of quietly sitting still while they work, but I’m learning because I just enjoy spending time with them. When I was a young puppy, I was adopted from a local shelter, but later my family abandoned me in my future-foster family's neighborhood. I guess you know that, because of inflation, lots of owners can’t afford their pets and are either dumping them or leaving them behind when they move out. Thank heavens my foster pawrents brought me inside and promised to find me a wonderful forever home. I enjoy playing with their older female dog, but the senior cat hasn’t yet warmed up to my friendly overtures. So now I’m ready for a permanent home this time around. I would really like to find a family who can love me for just who I am! Do you think it could be you? Arrange to meet me, and I just may cover your face with mushy puppy kisses. WHAT AN INNOCENT FACE! Est DOB 12/22/23, weight 32 pounds Hey there, everyone! I’m Milo, and I’m a sweet, happy, playful black Labrador/ Cattle Dog mix fella with a splash of white on my nose and on my chest. I’ve got the prick ears of a Cattle Dog, but my solid black coat and lanky build indicate my Lab heritage. I’m not finished growing, so you might expect me to weigh 45-50 pounds when I’m full grown. I’m one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet because I love everyone, and of course, everyone loves me back. Could it be because of the always-innocent expression on my face? One of my favorite things to do is fall asleep on top of Foster Mom. True confessions: I snore! I’m smart as a whip, and because I’m very food-motivated, treats have helped me to pick up a few commands very quickly. I’m high-energy, so I love to horse around with the resident dogs in my foster home. I’m curious about the cats, but I haven’t been allowed to meet them yet. Thank heavens Foster Mom rescued me as a stray who was wandering her neighborhood with no collar, tags, or chip. Now I’m ready to find my forever home, and I can’t wait! Could that be with you? Arrange to meet me, and I promise to cover your face with mushy puppy kisses. Story
Meet Clyde! You may remember Clyde’s sad story of cruelty and neglect.  We were shocked when we saw his pictures and heard how he had literally been strangled with a belt by his so called owner.  His strangulation caused a massive deep cut all around his neck and caused the blood not be able to circulate resulting in his face ballooning until he was unrecognizable.  He was confiscated from his owner and charges are pending.  In the meantime, we brought him into our rescue and have nursed him back to health. We could tell he didn’t know what it was like to be treated kindly, but after talking to him a bit and giving him love, he started wagging his tail. He is BEYOND sweet!!  Check him out HERE playing with his friends at daycare! We are happy to report that with the help of the vets, we provided pictures and info on the extent of his injuries to the Harris County DA's office. His former owner was prosecuted and justice was done! Clyde is about 4-5 years old and a Cattle Dog mix of sorts.  He’s friendly and fun-loving but cautious with new people until he knows you mean him no harm.  He does great with most other dogs that are medium to large in size.  He is high-energy, so he would do best in an active home and with another active dog that can play, and play, and play with him!  He’s not especially fond of cats, so a home without cats is a must. Clyde is just the sweetest, although he does get his feelings hurts easily when corrected, so he is a quick learner and pleaser.  Makes training a piece of cake! Clyde is doing fabulous in his foster home with his 2 canine siblings, but he would really love to find a forever home where he never has to worry again!  Contact us at  info@scoutshonor.org if you can help! No surprise here in Houston and considering the condition he was in, Clyde is heartworm positive, but don’t worry. Scout’s Honor is taking care of that for him and if you want to adopt Clyde before he's all clear (which would be great!) we will continue to cover the expense of his medicine and next heartworm check. We can explain it all but he's going to be just fine.     Check out Clyde playing with his friends at daycare HERE   Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs November 5, 2024, 1:18 am
