Story
Sparrow was adopted from us in February of 2023 and returned because he started jumping the short chain link fence. If he is going to be left in a fenced in yard, it will need to be a tall wooden fence. He is good with dogs, kids, and strangers. He has a high prey drive towards cats. He has not been around livestock. He is housebroken and crate trained. He rides well in a car and does well being groomed. He has done okay on a leash here at the shelter, but the previous adopter said that he does need leash work. Sparrow is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Story
PLEASE NOTE: Smoke Show is a very skittish puppy. While she has started to slowly warm up to staff, she will most definitely be scared in a new environment. When she first came here, she was very barky and even a bit nippy, so please be patient with her as she adjusts to your home. Smoke Show was found here in Stephenville and was never reclaimed. She is still very scared here at the shelter and not too fond of humans. She does accept treats from people's hands but will run to the back of her kennel once she has them. When she feels cornered, she does bark in fear. We are still trying to work with her to get her used to human interaction. She currently is in foster, and the foster has told us she is still a bit skeptical of new people but does open up easier if she first meets you outside. She loves other dogs, but a meet and greet is always highly recommended with any current household dogs. She is good with cats and livestock. She is treat motivated and has started to learn sit. She will need to be fed separately from other dogs as she is possessive over food and treats. She is a puppy and does potty in the crates. She is currently receiving potty training by her foster, and they say she is doing great. Any negative behaviors such as potting in the house and chewing on things will need to be trained out of her. Smoke Show has all her vaccinations, is spayed, and de-wormed. She is pending microchip. ECHS does not reserve adoptable animals for the public. Adoptions are first come first serve the day of availability. Please note that availability is subject to change at any point in time per ECHS discretion

Story
Guy was found as a stray and not reclaimed. Animal Control has dealt with him at his previous home, and he does have a bite history. Because of this, we are recommending an adult only home and someone who has experience with dogs. Since being at the shelter, he has been very friendly and didn't take too long to open up to staff. He loves all attention and giving big old slobbery kisses. He knows how to play fetch and loves to play tug of war. He gets excited when he sees people he likes. He has shown to be highly aggressive to other dogs, lunging at any he sees when on a leash and will be highly dominate when kenneled next to one. We do not recommend him going to a home with another dog as he may cause fights. We do not know how he is with other animals but doubt he would be good with cats. He walks fairly well on a leash. He will not stay in a crate for very long but has seemed to be potty trained while in his kennel. Guy is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Story
Araya was adopted in 2021 and returned due to her extreme separation anxiety. Araya loves people, and cannot stand being left by herself. She will tear a wire crate apart, bust through a fence, and try to dig through a door. She has not been around dogs since she was 2 months old and we are unsure of how she would do now. She is great with cats, kids, and strangers. Araya is a cuddler and loves playing with her toys. Storms and fireworks terrify her. She is housebroken. She walks well on a leash and rides well in cars. Arya is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, de-wormed, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Story
Aggie is an approximately 10 year old heeler who is a puppy in disguise! We love this old man so much!! He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. He seems to be house broken and uses a doggie door. He is overweight with a fatty lipoma on his belly that is not causing any issues. We want him to go to someone who won’t overfeed him so he can get healthier. He was dumped in a Houston park and we want him to have a great retirement home!! He needs a secure fence for his safety. Adoptable within one hour of Granbury, Tx. Adoption fee is $100. Applications can be found at www.scftx.org/adopt

Story
Chili was surrendered due to not being wanted. He is still warming up to the shelter environment but has been sweet. He is good with other dogs and kids. He is not potty trained yet and is still in his chewing stage. He does not do well in the car. He has been crated when left alone and has done well. He does try to get past us when his kennel or crate door is open. Chili has received 2 of his 3 DHPP vaccines, a Bordetella vaccine, rabies vaccine, neuter, wormer, and a microchip.

Story
Eri was surrendered from a neglectful situation. She is very smiley and energetic; she will run circles in her kennel when she gets excited. She came in with her brother and parents, and should be dog friendly, however a meet and greet is always recommended. She was emaciated upon intake and inhales her food like there is no tomorrow. If adopted into a home with another pet, she will likely display resource guarding over food and treats and should be fed separately. She has not been on a leash yet. She can be vocal in her kennel and may have some husky in her since she likes to sing sometimes. We do not know how she would react to cats or livestock. Eri has been spayed, vaccinated with 2 of her 3 DHPP vaccines and Bordetella vaccine, microchipped, and dewormed. The adopter will be responsible for a rabies vaccination.
