Story
Vickie is a 3 to 4-year-old, 44-pound border collie mix who arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 3/14, brought in as a stray. She’s a gentle, sweet, affectionate, and well-mannered Southern girl with plenty of charm. A bit timid, she preferred to stay close rather than wander off. She sits for treats and takes them gently, and when I walked her back to her kennel, she walked between my legs—a sign she was seeking comfort. She enjoyed having her ears scratched and is truly a diamond in the rough. She did her business in the yard and let me know she’d love to get out for a stretch but would be happiest spending most of her time inside soaking up attention from her new family.

Story
This high-spirited youngster is Lola. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/4 having been picked up as a stray. She weighs 21 pounds and is about 6 months old. My Dog Scanner indicates possible breeds in her mix as Aussie Cattle Dog, Amerian Pit Bull, and Louisiana Leopard. Lola has the most interesting and unusual coat. She is a very playful girl and wants you to join in the fun with her. She is friendly and sociable. She does walk OK on a leash. She has an abundance of puppy energy and she can be vocal. She has stuff she wants to say to you. She would benefit greatly from obedience training as she does jump on you. Until she can be taught to not jump on people, she would not do well around young children. She needs a person or family who will invest the time and energy (and patience) necessary for her to fit in well with her new people. She hopes her new family will be patient with her as she learns how to be the best pup she can be.

Story
--Meet Muffin — 1-Year-Old Cattle Dog Doesn’t she just look like fun?! With her incredibly expressive face and soft eyes, Muffin is the kind of dog who wears her heart on her sleeve. This sweet girl spent three long months in the shelter—waiting, hoping, watching other dogs leave while she stayed behind. We honestly can’t believe no one scooped her up sooner. Now safe in a foster home, Muffin follows her foster mom everywhere, soaking up the comfort and reassurance she’s been craving. She may be cautious around men, but with a gentle touch and a little patience, she opens up beautifully.   Muffin: Loves car rides and will be your loyal co-pilot Is quiet in her crate and walks well on a leash Gets along well with other dogs Is learning that the world isn’t so scary after all She’s ready to leave her past behind and step into a life full of pup cups, snuggles, and soft voices. Muffin just needs someone to show her how wonderful life can truly be.   Apply to adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/13108/generic   ##2479282##

Story
Cora is a 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! This happy-go-lucky girl is always smiling and has the cutest wiggle in her step whenever she greets you. She’s the definition of friendly—Cora loves absolutely everyone she meets, whether they have two legs or four! She has classic herding dog tendencies so would be best with a dog her size. Although, she currently lives with a tiny dog and cats. She’s fantastic on a leash, crate trained, and completely housebroken. Cora is wonderful with dogs, cats, and children. Once she is comfortable and trusts you she is easygoing and eager to please. Cora is easy to please, whether it’s with toys, treats, or just a little love and attention. She’s always up for fun but is just as happy to relax with her people. If you’re looking for a sweet, loving, and well-mannered companion, Cora is your girl! Could this perfect pup be the missing piece to your family? Adopt Cora today and let the smiles and wiggles begin! Click the link below to apply to adopt her. Story
Hello! My name is Jack. I am a 20-month-old all-American mix of a very good boy. Jack’s journey has been heartbreaking but also speaks volumes about the kind of dog he is. He was being mistreated by a member of a fire department in Louisiana. One fellow crew member could not stand by and allow it to continue — he quit his job on the spot, loaded Jack into his car, and brought him to Texas to save his life.   Sadly, the place that was holding Jack has since been sold, and he is now out of options. Jack urgently needs a foster or forever home.   Despite everything he has endured, Jack remains an incredibly loving, gentle, and well-mannered dog. He does not jump on people, listens very well, and is eager to please. He is dog friendly, cat friendly, and truly loves every person he meets.   Jack is fully vetted — neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention, and current on all vaccines. He enjoys being around people, lounging inside, soaking up the sun, and simply being part of a home. He is the kind of dog who just wants to belong.   Jack has been searching for his family for far too long. He deserves stability, kindness, and a safe place to finally call home.   Adoption Application: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/13108/generic ##2635051##
