Story
The first thing you’ll notice about Murphy is his stubby little tail wagging like crazy when you get close to him. He’s a very friendly boy! He’s known to mark you as a friend of his with a little bit of drool. Loose in the play yard he’ll keep himself entertained for the most part – he’s not needy, but he does enjoy having you playfully chase him! It’s pretty much his favorite game. He gets serious when the treats come out and is happy to sit on command. He also appreciates being pet and will thank you with a sweet kiss or two. He`s gotten along well with other dogs in shelter playgroups. Murphy has an average energy level and would love to meet you!

Story
Bandit is a 5YO Cattle Dog who was found in rough condition. We think he was attacked by another animal. He was covered with dried mud, puncture wounds, and lacerations. Most of the injuries are centered around his legs. He was unable to put weight on the right rear leg - x-rays showed he has old fractures of his right tibia and fibula. His left rear leg was very swollen, but some of the swelling has gone down. He`s been recovering well ever since and is ready to find love!

Story
Daisy is a sweet littlegirl, she is just more than I can handle at my age. She does well with our dogs most of the time, but can get a little bossy if given treats around the other dogs. She still likes to jump but we are working on that. She knows how to sit on command most of the time. I'm looking for a forever home for this sweet girl. I know whoever adopts her will fall in love with her. She is kennel trained for when I go to work. I would be willing to donate her kennel with her.

Story
From Chip's foster mom: We helped take care of Bea’s litter as they were growing up, and my son and I often referred to the sable boys as “The Chipmunks”. So when Busy joined us - and his two sisters we had adopted - we started calling him Chip! Chip was born May 6, 2024. He is 50% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% collie and 25% a mix of other breeds. He is up to date on vaccines, HW negative and soon to be neutered and weighs around 40 lbs. Chip is a sweet, sensitive soul. It’s hard not to adopt him ourselves! He takes some time to warm up, but once he knows he is safe, he’s in your arms in no time. He enjoys sitting with us on the back porch and watching the other dogs play, observing the chickens, ducks, and goats in the back of the property, and taking it all in. He’ll also climb in our laps on the couch. He has been started on loose leash walking and basic manners. He is very food motivated, and loves to carry around toys. Chip is willing to try new things, with lots of encouragement and a slow, steady pace. He is crate trained, and only takes a short time to settle in. He does need to eat his dinner out of a slow feeder bowl otherwise he is quite the fast eater! He has started getting accustomed to having his nails dremeled when on the grooming table. Chip would do best in a home with a confident but friendly and mild mannered dog (male or female), or be the only dog. He has a tendency to want all of the attention to himself and has occasionally let the other dogs in his foster home know that he wants left alone while he gets attention. I would not suggest he be around cats or small animals, as he has shown quite an interest in our Chinchilla and the outdoor cats. I would recommend him with kids over 10, as he will jump to get attention (we’re still working on that!) and his nervousness in new situations. When he gets nervous he just belly flops or “puts on the brakes”. He is motivated to move by positive words and especially tidbits of food. Chip doesn’t love car rides since he still gets a little carsick, but if his human is going - I’m sure he’d be happy to tag along to quiet places. Chip is looking forward to settling in with his lifelong family! Will this sweetheart be your match? Apply at HoustonCollieRescue.org

Story
Meet Zoro, a young, lively spirit brimming with energy and curiosity. His playful antics are sure to bring joy to any home. Not only is he friendly, but he`s also a cuddly companion who loves to snuggle while on your lap for some petting. His easygoing, friendly, playful nature allows him to get along with dogs, cats, and children alike. He weighs 43 pounds and is leash trained, making walks a breeze, but he`ll need your help to complete his house training. He is young and inexperienced but keen to learn. He is an easy walker on leash, curious to explore without pulling. He is very affectionate and cherishes the time spent with his humans more than anything - treats, toys or even playing with his dog friends - and he just sits next to you, getting pets and checking out the surroundings. Time slows down with him next to you.Zoro was returned to the shelter because his family moved overseas and couldn’t take him along. While staying with his foster, he has learned the come, no, and down commands. He lived outside but he did learn about crate training while in the foster home. His favorite activities are car rides, running, toys, and chase. He might run away while off leash but will come back if you call him. His protective nature means he`ll always look out for his family. But what truly sets Zoro apart is his lovable demeanor. This social butterfly is ready to share his love with a forever family who will appreciate his zest for life and endless affection. Adopt Zoro and bring home not just a pet, but a loyal friend and a source of unending happiness. (tw bf 01/14/2025)Click `Play` to meet Zoro. This animal has been available at the shelter for more than 30 days and is now considered a VIP.The adoption fee is 50% off! -jc (10/1/24)

Story
This is Booger. She is a 1.5 year old Australian shepherd mix with the most beautiful eyes. She loves car rides, toys, treats, and playing in water. She will jump in the tub with you if you give her the opportunity. She loves any kind of scratches she can get (she's very persuasive), guarding under your desk using your feet as a pillow, and most of all, sitting in your lap on the couch to watch a movie. She's incredibly smart and learns new tricks quickly. She does well on a leash with a harness. She's potty trained but will need to be let out regularly. She loves to chase the squirrels up the tree and protect the yard. She needs to go to a home without other dogs or cats. She's timid at first, but with treats warms up easily. I am not sure how she is around kids. If you're interested, please let me know. I want her to go to the best home for her, and unfortunately, I can not provide that as I have other dogs. If you open your home up to her, she will love and protect your family with everything she has. I would love updates if you're willing to provide them. She's a very special dog and deserves the right home that can bring out her best. She is currently not spayed, but I do have an appointment booked for her. She will also have her rabbies shot then. She has received the 10-way vaccine from TSC, but she is due for her reup. I'm willing to drive to meet you if you are further away. Please feel free to ask me any questions or if you have any concerns.

Story
This handsome boy is a total gem. Zeus is easy to leash up, walks well without pulling, and has just the right balance of playfulness and calm. He’s got a thing for zoomies in the yard, but also loves to chill when it’s time to relax. Treats? He takes them gently from your hand, and he knows how to sit on command (he definitely knows what to do, he just doesn’t always to it 100% of the time – he just needs a little more practice to perfect it). Sometimes he’ll even give you a little hug with his front paws when he gets excited – it’s his way of saying, “I’m happy to see you!” Zeus is the perfect companion with a medium energy level. He loves pets and will happily stand by your side to soak up the love, but he’s also independent enough to keep himself entertained when needed. We’re not sure what like was like for him before, but it must have bene pretty tough judging by the way he’s missing the top of one of his ears. Despite whatever he’s been through Zeus hasn’t lost his good attitude and sunny outlook on life.
