Very dog friendly, but wants to be the only dog & get lots of one-on-one attention. Her ideal home is one without dogs or young kids. --*Must have a completely fenced-in yard with a tall fence and should not be left unsupervised in the yard for more than a few minutes. Misty is quite athletic; she can scale an 8-ft fence with ease, and she loves the workout that digging provides. Misty's journey began as a street dog, but she managed to overcome adversity and raise a beautiful litter of six puppies, all of whom have found loving homes. She has been living with a foster and learning all about the comforts and expectations of living in a home. Misty thrives on human companionship and would benefit from having someone present during the day. If you have a flexible schedule, work from home, or can arrange for consistent human interaction, Misty will feel secure and content knowing there's someone there to support her. While Misty does enjoy the company of children, she would prefer a calm and gentle environment. Once bringing her home she quickly connected with me out of my family. I have had her for 5 years. She is 9yr old now. With her older age she does not require much exercise. She has had an injury in the past which affects her hips and therefore takes a supplement. Besides that, she is a low energy dog and is happy to lay around and sunbathe occasionally. Meet Marjorie! Marjorie is a beautiful brindle pit bull mix, about 42 pounds, at 2 years old, and is so deserving of a forever home! She has been through a lot in her short life including being a wonderful mama to a 9-pup litter in the fall of 2023 around the time she was rescued by Saving Hope, plus overcoming heartworms and a bad respiratory virus that nearly took her life. Marjorie is stronger and healthier than ever now; her puppies found homes, now she is eagerly waiting for hers!She does wonderfully in her crate at night and during the day when her foster mom is at work. As she is not destructive, once she is settled into her forever home (generally 3 weeks to 3 months depending on the dog), she can be left out of her kennel. As with so many dogs, she is naturally nervous in new situations, and thus needs continued work on building confidence. She thrives with clear direction from her person and positive feedback when she does the right thing – she tries her very best to follow all the rules! She has the cutest tippy-tap dance when excited, waiting for a treat, or when she’s working on a skill.While there are no children in her current foster home, she loves everyone and would likely do well with children 10+ as she appreciates her space being respected and a calm household would help her adjust faster.Marjorie loves nothing more than to keep busy managing squirrels and lizards in the yard. This is her main energy outlet currently, so a backyard would be ideal. She needs at least a 6-foot tall fence when off leash because this girl is athletic… anyone want an agility dog? She might be it! She exhibits prey drive tendencies so cats, small dogs or other small animals are not a good fit. She takes breaks to sunbathe and would be content to do this nonstop, but she listens well when it’s time to come inside.Marjorie is threshold trained and is working on leash skills for walks using a prong collar and cues/guidance to walk alongside her human. She gets excited at the sight of other creatures but will sit on command until her person is ready to go. When it’s time to rest, she is very respectful of furniture but if she is invited up, she will be more than happy to cuddle.Marjorie is very quiet unless she is barking at a squirrel or playing with her foster brother, who she has become quite close to (a boxer/pit bull mix).
