Story
Introducing Auburn! Auburn is a beautiful Cattle Dog / Heeler mix who is approximately 2 years old and currently weighs 30 pounds. We rescued this gorgeous gal from the Hondo, TX shelter and although we don’t really know much bout he background, it is clear that people have not always been very kind to her. During her spay surgery, our vet discovered that she had been shot in the leg with a pellet gun. All of that is behind her now and we are excited to help this sweet girl find the loving home she deserves. Auburn is a gentle and curious. She needs someone who will go slow with her so that she can feel comfortable knowing that she will be treated kindly. Once she feels safe, she loves getting attention and affection. She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup and is happy and playful! With patience and lots of love we know Auburn will blossom and become a wonderful, loving companion to her new family. She is just waiting for that special person to understand her! She has a heart of gold and shows ZERO aggression of any kind. Sweet, submissive and needs one on one time and love, that we cannot give her here at the rescue. Auburn is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $325. A meet and greet will be arranged with an approved application. Auburn tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. Story
Izzie is a wonderful Cattle Dog Boxer mix who is approximately 4 years old and weighs 50 pounds. She was found living on the streets in a neighborhood in Weslaco, Texas near the border of Mexico. Everyone knew who she was, but no-one claimed her as their own. She was pregnant and had her babies under an abandoned trailer home. Local children heard the puppies crying and they crawled under the house to pull all of them out ! She did a good job of taking care of her babies. She is just such a sweet mama dog. All of that is behind her now! Izzie is such sweet girl with the most wonderful disposition. She is friendly, playful and is always happy to jump in the car and go on an adventure. She loves love love riding in the car, and would honestly make a great traveling companion! She loves everyone she meets and her tail is always wagging. Izzie gets along well with the other dogs in her group here at the rescue and is learning that toys are pretty cool, too. She is crate trained for her meals and for sleeping but if you asked Izzie, curling up next to her people in a warm bed would be a-ok with her as well. We just love this girl and can see her doing well in just about any family environment! Izzies updated video! We love her! https://youtu.be/HyGle1h6j3w?si=Ee0LDgfMYpt-DF04 Izzie is located in at our rescue in Hondo, Texas and is available for transport to St Augustine, FL on December 21st. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, and microchipped. A generous donor has offered to pay half of Izzie's adoption fee, so her adoption fee is $200. The fee includes the transport cost. Izzie tested positive for Chagas disease and has completed her treatment. The great news is she has completed her treatment and will get her follow up blood work done on Dec 4th to confirm she is NEGATIVE! We are so happy for her! This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. Story
Meet Patches Patches is a sweet boy who is about 1 year old and weighs 45 pounds. He was an owner surrender to our local shelter, who called us to help. He was surrendered through no fault of his own, because of a change in living situation, they couldn't take their sweet shadow boy with them. The staff fell in love with him, and knew he didn't deserve to be in a kill shelter. He does have a very brief warm-up period when meeting new people, followed by curiousness and kisses, and being a typical Heeler once he knows you, you will always be his best friend. and loves to get attention and affection. He is very playful and smart. Cattle dogs are also known as shadow dogs, very loyal and consider their owners to be their pack, they are very smart and get very attached to their people! Story
Hey there friends! The name is Tate, but my friends around here call me “Tater Tot” and “Tater” because I remind them of a potato in the best way possible , probably because of my round fluffy body and sweet personality that makes you feel all happy and mushy inside. Anyways, since we’re on the topic of potatoes, I gotta say that I am your ideal couch potato! If you’re looking for a laid back dude to cuddle on the couch with while watching movies and eating some snacks, I’m your guy. Even though I am a bit of a lazy guy, I ain’t gonna sleep on snuggles! I love to lean my head and sometimes my whole body on you when I want some snuggles. I know I may not be your typical size for a lap dog, but that won’t stop me from snuggling (and sometimes even falling asleep!) on your lap. I’m also a sucker for belly rubs, I can’t go a day without them! While I’m not extremely active, I do love to zoom every once in a while and I do enjoy a good walk! I’ve been here for quite a long time, and it’s pretty much all because I can be a bit intimidating in my kennel and shy at first with new people. But I promise outside of my kennel I’m a whole lot less scary and with some treats and time I’ll be your number one snuggle buddy. I am truly the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for. Please give me a chance to experience having a home of my own.

Story
Hello, future family! I’m Super Max, and I’m here to show you that superheroes come in all shapes and sizes. I earned my name by being brave and strong, even when life was tough. When I was found, I had a collar that had painfully embedded into my neck, so it’s no surprise that I’m a little unsure about wearing a leash and get nervous in new places. But don’t worry—I’m learning to be brave every day! I’ve started walking well on a leash and am getting better with each step. I’m a calm and gentle soul who just needs a patient family to help me rebuild my faith in humans. With a little love and understanding, I know I can become the loyal and loving companion you’re looking for.If you’re ready to open your heart to a superhero like me, let’s embark on this journey together. With your support, I’ll show you just how super a dog can be!
