Story
Are you ready to be the hero John Wayne has been waiting for? This adorable 8-monthold pup is capturing hearts with his speckled coat and soulful eyes. His unique look hints at Heeler and Cattle Dog heritage, though his exact breed awaits confirmation via DNA test. After a brief stay at the shelter, John has flourished in a loving foster home, thriving on the affection and care provided. John Wayne embodies the essence of puppyhood-brimming with playful energy and a healthy dose of curiosity. Although he may be a bit shy, don't mistake his reserve for timidity; it's simply his way of asking for a gentle, understanding touch. With a solid start in his foster home, he's ready to flourish under the care of an owner who can provide continuous guidance in obedience, socialization, and potty training - all essential for his growth into a well-rounded dog. He's had positive interactions with children at adoption events, making him a great candidate for families aware of the playful antics of teething puppies. He's also shown to be an excellent friend to other dogs and would thrive with a canine companion to boost his confidence Regular potty breaks and short walks are essential for John Wayne as he transitions into a new life. A home with a yard would be ideal, where he can explore and play to his heart's content. His foster notes that he's incredibly sweet and cuddly, brimming with potential and ready to share his love with a dedicated owner If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who may start off shy but will undoubtedly become a devoted friend with a bit of love and patience, John Wayne is eagerly waiting to join your family. Let this adorable pup gallop into your life and heart!

Story
Are you an outdoorsy active type looking for a compatible active, adventurous 4-legged pal? Meet OSWALD, a young Australian Cattle Dog mix with a spirit full of energy and a loving heart. At just 15 months old, he's a goofball who loves to show off his skills while hanging with his best friend. A shelter environment is not the best for an active, intelligent dog but Oswald has shown us that he is smart and eager to learn more. He conquered our agility course quickly and picks up commands easily. With a consistent regime, he can retain what he has learned and continue to grow. Oswald is a loyal companion who thrives with routine training, always eager to learn and please. He is dog friendly, doing best with those of his energy level. Oswald's energy and intelligence call for a home that can provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. His love of treats makes him an eager student, always ready to learn new tricks and commands. Adopt Oswald and gain a loyal friend who will be your adventure, outdoor, chill pal.

Story
Pecos is a beautiful 3 ½ year old blue heeler mix. He is a special needs dog due to his deafness, but he knows a number of hand signals and could certainly learn many more! Among those that he knows are sit, stay, down, heel, wait, good job, free, and stop. True to the blue heeler breed he is extremely energetic, loyal, and is happiest right by your side. He gets along with some dogs, but if he feels jealous he will snap and bark. Pecos has always lived in a single pet home, and his interactions with other dogs have been occasional play dates and walking around the neighborhood. There are no children in the house, but when my young niece has been over, he has always been very gentle. Pecos isn’t one for fetch, but he does get the zoomies and loves to run around the backyard and go on daily walks. We have a baby due in March, and he needs a home that can give him lots of attention and exercise. Please let me know if you are interested in meeting him!

Are you looking for a fun loving, goofy and energetic puppy? If so, Huey is your boy! He’s been storing up his energy after some time spent in the ICU with a broken leg and now that he’s feeling better he can’t wait to be the silly pup that he is! Healing from an injury is hard work for a puppy so he hasn’t really been able to focus on things like leash manners so he’s hoping someone can help him clean those up! Huey absolutely loves to play with toys, in fact if you give him one he will often toss it around in the air and have himself a ball! (Just be sure to take it away after because being a puppy sometimes it can be hard to tell food from toys)! Huey would love a family that is willing to help him learn and finally let him show off his goofy personality outside of the shelter and in a loving and committed home. If he sounds like a pup you would like to meet, come on down, he’s waiting for you!

Story
Drumroll please… Introducing: Telly, the 1 year old pupper who is filled with love. Telly’s a volunteer favorite because she is so laid back and easy going when it comes to entering and exiting her kennel. She’s known for being affectionate, loving and well mannered. She’s only 1, yet still can sit & come on command. This is why adopting a 1 year old pup is sought after - you will get to skip the demanding puppy phase, as she is already well trained, but you will still get to know each other from a young age so a lasting bond is sure to happen to the two of you! Telly is also leash trained and playful. Volunteers have noted that she loves her stuffed toys, love exploring and running around the play yard, and still appreciates her down time. We think she’d make a great work from home partner because she loves being close to people, but is happy to do her own thing too! With Telly’s big heart & playful spirit, she is going to add so much to her forever family. If that is you, come into AAC today and meet her.
