Are you ready to be the hero John Wayne has been waiting for? This adorable 8-monthold pup is capturing hearts with his speckled coat and soulful eyes. His unique look hints at Heeler and Cattle Dog heritage, though his exact breed awaits confirmation via DNA test. After a brief stay at the shelter, John has flourished in a loving foster home, thriving on the affection and care provided. John Wayne embodies the essence of puppyhood-brimming with playful energy and a healthy dose of curiosity. Although he may be a bit shy, don't mistake his reserve for timidity; it's simply his way of asking for a gentle, understanding touch. With a solid start in his foster home, he's ready to flourish under the care of an owner who can provide continuous guidance in obedience, socialization, and potty training - all essential for his growth into a well-rounded dog. He's had positive interactions with children at adoption events, making him a great candidate for families aware of the playful antics of teething puppies. He's also shown to be an excellent friend to other dogs and would thrive with a canine companion to boost his confidence Regular potty breaks and short walks are essential for John Wayne as he transitions into a new life. A home with a yard would be ideal, where he can explore and play to his heart's content. His foster notes that he's incredibly sweet and cuddly, brimming with potential and ready to share his love with a dedicated owner If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion who may start off shy but will undoubtedly become a devoted friend with a bit of love and patience, John Wayne is eagerly waiting to join your family. Let this adorable pup gallop into your life and heart!

💖🐾 When you meet MOMO, you'll want to learn 'mo' about him! This speckled, freckled, colorful 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix is a delightful heartthrob. Weighing in at over 60 pounds, Momo is a good-sized boy who walks well on a leash and absolutely adores his human companions. Momo's journey began when he was found as a stray with his brother, Blue, by a kind-hearted individual keeping them safe until they could reach the shelter. Initially, Momo was quite shy, but with encouragement he learned life could be fun and silly with friends. Although a bit unsure of other dogs, Momo has found his soulmate in Grapes, a female Pyr mix. Watching them play is like seeing two old friends💘 argue over who gets the last slice of pizza—hilarious and heartwarming... play/nap/repeat. So, what's it going to be? Are you ready to let Momo and his constellation of freckles brighten your life? Whether he's playing with Grapes or mastering the art of leash-walking, Momo is a dog who makes life more entertaining. Story
Lucy is a healer/cow dog. Her owner passed away in the hospital so she has had a rough go. She was one of 2 cow dogs but her 15 year old sister (?) passed away shortly after her master. She has adapted perfectly to our alpha chihuahua Dobie, and our larger indoor/outdoor Ruby. She has never growled since we've had her 2 weeks. She was really nervous at first and couldn't handle me being out of her sight but now she is chill and relaxed. She loves going for her walk once or twice a day with my Ruby. She is potty trained and will let you know when she needs to go pee or poo. I've tried to get her used to our chickens to no avail. If we didn't love our chickens so much we'd keep her. I'm guessing she's about 5 years old. Oh, and she smiles when she is nervous. Cute as ever!!!

Story
Louise is a 3-year-old parvo survivor who we've had since she was a few months old. She is intelligent and athletic. She loves to play fetch more than anything. She is crate-trained, house-trained, sleeps through the night, and loves to curl up with her people. She currently lives with our elderly dog and 2 young children. However, she's always had issues with unfamiliar dogs and resource guarding. She bit the neighbor's dog nearly two years ago. After that bite, she spent 8 weeks boarded with a trainer and uses an e-collar. She's had no issue until recently, when she got into a fight with our older dog over a stray yogurt container. She would do best in a home without other pets, and although never been aggressive with our kids, older children, if any. Someone who has resources to maintain her training and give her the mental and physical stimulation she excels in is ideal. We are heartbroken, but she deserves better than what we can give her.

Story
We are looking for the right home for this sweet girl! Please let me know if you’d like to meet her and give her the chance she deserves. Willa is a beautiful, playful girl who is estimated to be around 2 years old. We’ve had her in our home for about 2 months. She’s crate and house trained. She’s gentle with our rambunctious 4 year old daughter and respectful of our 8 year old grumpy chihuahua. She has made friends with several dogs we know and has shown respectful interest in chickens and a rabbit. She is smart, knows sit, paw, and has learned ‘touch’. She loves to run and chew bones and play fetch. She would be a great running companion! She could use some additional training in a few areas (counter surfing, jumping up to greet) and we think an experienced dog owner or a family with another dog to play with her would be ideal. She is about 40 lbs, was spayed in May 2024, is up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and chipped.

Meet Huey!Huey is an almost 2-year-old bundle of love with a big personality and even bigger heart. We’re convinced he was a stand-up comedian in a past life because his hilarious facial expressions perfectly match his moods. He’s a playful, goofy boy who loves other dogs and will even entertain himself with a ball if no one’s around to join in.But Huey isn’t just all fun and games—he’s a total sweetheart who adores snuggling. Huey wants to be as close to you as possible. He’ll happily curl up and make himself at home right next to you, ready to soak up all the love and attention. While he doesn`t bark a lot, he will let you know if anyone approaches your door so he`s a great watch dog as well. While he’s still a rambunctious puppy at heart and learning some manners (like not jumping on people), Huey’s affectionate nature shines through in everything he does. If you’re looking for a loving, cuddly companion who will keep you laughing and warm, Huey is ready to steal your heart!

Story
Drumroll please… Introducing: Telly, the 1 year old pupper who is filled with love. Telly’s a volunteer favorite because she is so laid back and easy going when it comes to entering and exiting her kennel. She’s known for being affectionate, loving and well mannered. She’s only 1, yet still can sit & come on command. This is why adopting a 1 year old pup is sought after - you will get to skip the demanding puppy phase, as she is already well trained, but you will still get to know each other from a young age so a lasting bond is sure to happen to the two of you! Telly is also leash trained and playful. Volunteers have noted that she loves her stuffed toys, love exploring and running around the play yard, and still appreciates her down time. We think she’d make a great work from home partner because she loves being close to people, but is happy to do her own thing too! With Telly’s big heart & playful spirit, she is going to add so much to her forever family. If that is you, come into AAC today and meet her.

Story
Shirley is the sweetest, most affectionate pup you'll ever meet! This darling girl has a heart of gold and a zest for life that's simply contagious. She loves nothing more than showering her favorite humans with sloppy kisses and snuggles. Shirley is a regular chatterbox too, always happy to "talk" your ear off with her adorable vocalizations and silly noises. And boy, can this cutie pie give kisses! She's a licking machine who never tires of smooching on her best pals. Shirley has impeccable manners - she can sit pretty for treats and is a star on the leash during walks around the neighborhood. She's a social butterfly who gets along famously with other dogs and absolutely adores children. While her big, exuberant paws can be a bit much for tiny critters, Shirley is a gentle soul who is amazing with kids of all ages. As if all that wasn't enough, Miss Shirley is also fully house-trained and crate-trained too! This sweet angel is the total package - overflowing with love, kisses, and tail wags galore.
