Story
Clara is a 5 1/2 year old blue-heeler/terrier mix at about 32 lbs. She is an alert, intelligent and loyal dog that needs room to move and travels very well. We currently live in an apartment and new employment will require leaving a cattle dog in a confined place for longer than I am comfortable with. While she gets plenty of daily exercise the time I will be able to devote will have to stop next year. Am, ideally, seeking individuals(s) that have the room (yard or ranch) and are experienced dog owners. She has never been trained to herd but has the instincts and listens and obeys commands very well. She has only been trained with positive reinforcement techniques. I would require at least a few visits before agreeing to any adoption and am willing to travel to you. Please email or call me with whatever questions you may have. Thank you.

Story
Meet Lucky, affectionately known as Lucky Boo. He’s a lively three-year-old cattle dog mix full of personality. Since we brought him home as a puppy, he’s been more than just a pet—he’s been Daddy’s best friend and a constant source of joy. Lucky’s energy is contagious; he loves car rides, is highly food-motivated (especially for Scooby Snacks), and is a great running buddy. Writing this is heartbreaking, as we must rehome Lucky due to severe allergies in our family. Despite countless sleepless nights trying to find another solution, this painful decision feels necessary. Lucky adores people, especially children, and is loyal yet independent. He’s confident, especially around other dogs his size, and enjoys sneaking into the bedroom at night to be close. Rehoming him with his sister, Scout, would mean the world to us. Lucky has been more than just a dog; he’s been a loyal friend, my friend, and we want him to find a new home filled with love.

Story
Meet Scout, formally known as Jean Louise. Scout is a nine-year-old cattle dog-boxer mix who has been Daddy’s little girl since she was a puppy. The memory of her playful spirit, especially as a puppy with her big Buddha belly, still brings a smile to my face. Though she’s grown up, her love for playtime remains strong, particularly when it involves a game of fetch with the children she adores. Scout isn’t motivated by treats like her brother Lucky; she prefers a good game of fetch. She’s a people dog at heart, needing daily butt scratches and snuggles to feel content. Due to some tough experiences as a pup, Scout is cautious around other dogs, but once she feels safe, she’s all in for playtime. Rehoming Scout is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. She’s been my constant companion and source of endless love for nine years. After much soul-searching, we’ve concluded that this is what’s best for her and our family, who have developed severe allergies. She is a great dog!

Story
Snickers is a 4-5 months old 35-pound Australian Shepherd mix. She was left in an elderly couple's yard at night.  They had no way to care for her and were unsuccessful finding her owners. They surrendered her to Poquita Paws. Initially she was a very young and extremely frightened and insecure puppy. A PPR foster who owns a ranch and has many dogs of all sizes and temperaments and has extensive rescue experience agreed to help her. Snickers has had an amazing ranch journey. She has a bestie named Badger who is a 6-month-old 60-pound Great White Pyrenees. They can manage to make Pigpen look like a freshly shined choir boy. Rather it is a romp in the koi pond, through the pasture or up around the chickens. Every day is a great day. She has learned to tolerate her kennel for longer and longer periods of time. Snickers has nearly mastered housebreaking. This little girl would make an awesome addition to an active family and another active 4-legged friend to play with. No matter the situation she needs a yard, exercise and positive attention. Snickers has her age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, wormed, and PPR will be responsible for her spay when about 6 months old. If you would like to meet this little girl, please apply here. Her adoption fee is $300. ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Poquita Paws does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes spay/neutered, rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventrative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE. We transport to most states across the country. Medical records will come with each dog at the time of adoption. Our organization is run by volunteers/foster parents, please be patient to give us time to respond to your emails and/or phone calls.  We will reply to youi  Thank you. November 6, 2024, 4:32 pm
