Story
Meet sweet Poppy! Poppy was found in a field with her siblings, on the verge of dying. Dehydrated, emaciated, full of parasites. Thankfully a good Samaritan got them all rounded up and called us. All were a bit shy at first but have come out of their shell and are nothing short of adorable. Cattle dog/shep mix, going to be medium size dogs we think. Born in April of this year and currently around 15 pounds. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home. Story
Piper was born on February 16, 2023 and adopted on May 13, 2023. She is very sweet and chill. Piper is spayed and microchipped. She has been covered and treated by a Banfield wellness plan and is current on all medical care and vaccines. Piper has gotten along well with our five- and seven-year-old kids. She has also done well with her brother and our other older dog. Piper and her brother play rough, but she enjoys laying around when it’s just her and our other older dog. She has never been around cats. Due to life changes, we have been unable to give her the attention she needs. Additionally, the cost of caring for all our pets is no longer sustainable. Piper is primarily an outdoor dog but also does well indoors. If she is outdoors, I would recommend a fenced-in yard. She knows how to respond to her name and understands sit. She is also crate-trained. The rehoming fee ensures that she goes to a serious owner and covers the cancellation of her wellness plan.

Story
Bandit is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet! He does well with kids of all ages and loves playing with other dogs. He’s been to the dog park several times and loves it! He has never had any issues interacting with new dogs or people. He makes friends with everyone. He’s a very energetic and high drive dog, so he needs lots of playtime and exercise. He would do best in a family situation, preferably with other dogs or someone who works from home. A backyard with a fence is a must, he's a quick learner so an invisible fence will work too! If you’re looking for a best friend, a hiking and running buddy, or your kids or fur babies playmate, then Bandit is the dog for you! He’s only a year and a half old so he still has puppy energy. He is potty trained and does well in a crate. He’ll get in the crate by himself with treats. He knows sit and lay and is learning shake and a crate command. The longer you know him the more his playful, goofy personality comes through!
