Story
Hey there, humans! I'm Axel, the cutest little bundle of energy you'll ever meet! Just look into my GORGEOUS eyes, and you'll be smitten. My story starts off a bit dramatic-imagine a soap opera with fur! I was found wandering the streets with my mom. Right after some lovely rescue ladies scooped us up, my former owner showed up and said, "I'll take the mom but leave the pup." And just like that, I became a rescued pup (because I was the last of an unwanted litter.) Talk about a plot twist! Since then, I've been crashing at a foster home and learning all sorts of new tricks. Walking on a leash? Nailed it! Living without mom was tough at first, but I've adjusted like a champ. I'm also getting the hang of this whole crate and housetraining business. You could say I'm a fast learner, but don't expect me to figure out quantum physics anytime soon! Almost everything is new to me since I wasn't exactly socialized in my previous dogs. I'm on a mission to learn more and more each day, so I'm on the lookout for a family that's got the time and patience to help me on my educational journey. Oh, and did I mention I'm a social butterfly? I get along with dogs, kids, not sure about cats! Now, let's talk breed: I'm an Australian Cattle Dog, which means I'm basically a furry bundle of intelligence and energy. We're known for our smarts, loyalty, and, let's be honest, our stubborn streak. I need mental stimulation and lots of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. Understanding my breed is key to understanding me, so if you're ready for a fun, energetic, and slightly mischievous pup, then I'm your guy! So, if you're up for the adventure, let's create our own sitcom filled with laughter, learning, and a lot of love! Story
Meet Dakota Jane, our adorable 5-year-old Blue Heeler, who is eagerly waiting for her forever home! After the tragic loss of her first mom, Dakota found herself in a new home, but sadly, her adopter had to move and couldn't take her along. Now, this sweet girl is looking for someone to love her for LIFE! True to her herding breed, Dakota has a natural instinct to herd everyone and everything around her. She gets along great with most dogs and at one point lived harmoniously with cats! However, she doesn't do well with kitten shenanigans and has begun chasing cats. It's best her new home not have feline friends. Although Dakota is extremely chubby, she's also very active and needs to stay that way! This lovable girl enjoys playtime and outdoor adventures. A home that will include her into their activities and plans to stay active would be perfect for her. Dakota is a little shy around men, having met very few in her life. But with a bit of patience, she warms up quickly and can make them her best friends. To make her adoption even sweeter, her adoption fee is waived! Dakota is house-trained and crate-trained but does not need to be crated. She is well past those puppy behaviors! She is a very sweet, loving, devoted sidekick, active but also couch loving, and well mannered gal. It's important for Dakota's new adopter to understand her herding dog instincts. These instincts mean she may try to herd people, other animals, or even objects, so an understanding of her breed is essential for a successful match. If you're ready to provide the love and guidance Dakota Jane deserves, she promises to fill your life with joy, laughter, and lots of cuddles. Let's help this precious girl find the safe haven she's been waiting for! Be sure to visit our Facebook page for additional pictures and information on our rescues! Canine Partners Program Inc. Story
Roo arrived at NCCR on 3/27/24, rescued when her owners could no longer provide care for her. She is an approximately 6-7-year-old female Australian Cattle Dog. Roo is very friendly to people, and lived with several other dogs, but seems a little intolerant of dogs that pester her or get in her space too much. She knows how to throw her weight around (and she could stand to lose a few pounds!), so she may be too strong for very small children. She has received a full veterinary checkup and was spayed and brought up to date with vaccinations and needed care. Roo may need more work on her house-training skills, as she has some accidents if not kept on a schedule. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.

Story
Howdy, friends! I'm Snicker, and just like the candy, I'm here to add some sweetness to your life. But the best part? No sugar rush, just pure, long-lasting love! At 5 years old and a perfectly sized 44 pounds, I'm an Australian Cattle Dog (or Red Heeler) who's as sweet and soft as they come. With my warm reddish coat and those big brown eyes, I'm a head-turner, but it's my gentle nature that really wins hearts. I came to Happy Bark after my previous family had to make the hard decision to let me go. They wanted what was best for me, and now I'm ready to find a new family who will love me forever. While I might seem a little shy at first, don't let that fool you-once I feel safe and secure, I'm all in! I'm the kind of dog who'll quietly nuzzle your hand, content just being near you, sharing quiet moments and soft glances. One of the best things about me is how well I get along with others. I'm a peaceful, easygoing guy who gets along great with other dogs. Big or small, I'm happy to share space, toys, or even a nice nap in the sun. I'm also cool with cats-no chasing or pestering here, just respect and harmony. My calm, mellow personality makes me a great companion for households with other animals. I'm not a dog who's going to demand too much from you. I'm content with the simple pleasures-belly rubs, quiet strolls, and curling up next to you after a long day. But don't get me wrong-I've still got a playful side! I'd love a good romp in the yard or some fun exploring on walks, but I'm just as happy to cuddle up and enjoy some down time with my favorite humans. If you're looking for a sweet, steady companion who'll love you unconditionally and fit right in with the family (whether it's just you or a whole pack of furry friends), I'm your guy. They don't call me Snicker for nothing-my sweetness is sure to bring a smile to your face every single day. Let's make life a little sweeter together! Snicker's adoption fee is $275.
