We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Mylo – a 4-year-old, neutered, 44-pound Cattle Dog mix with a tongue that just can’t be tamed and a heart that’s even bigger. Currently in a foster home in San Antonio, TEXAS, Mylo is ready to transport out of state once his forever family is approved and ready to fall in love. Let’s start with the obvious: Mylo has a perma-blep. That’s right—his tongue is just a little too long for his mouth, and it’s almost always peeking out like he’s mid-lick or permanently saying, “hi.” A vet has checked it out and confirmed there’s nothing wrong—he was just born with extra tongue and endless flavor to sample. It doesn’t cause him pain, but it does mean he occasionally needs a little extra hydration. He also has a slight protruding bone at the base of his rib cage—again, no cause for concern, just more proof that this boy was truly “born this way.” We like to say he’s one part goofball, one part model, and 100% original. Mylo is an affectionate, silly, and curious guy who loves to play and explore. He has a bit of that classic Cattle Dog energy—he thrives with daily activity, enjoys long walks, and loves a good romp in the yard. He plays well with dogs of all sizes and currently lives in a multi-dog home with pups ranging from tiny Chihuahuas to an 80-pound Boxer mix. He does well reading other dogs’ social cues and adjusts his play accordingly. He’s also very vocal when he plays or gets excited—growling, grunting, and making silly noises are just part of his charm. Once you get to know him, you’ll realize it’s just his voice, not a sign of anything aggressive. He enjoys meeting new dogs on walks, though he might sound a little intense at first—again, that vocal streak—but he’s friendly and well-mannered. He’s shown some interest in chasing cats, so to be safe, a feline-free home is best. Mylo has met children of various ages through his foster family and has done well overall. Due to his occasional jumping and enthusiasm, we recommend a home with older kids (10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to interact with an active dog. He’s loving and playful, and with continued positive training, will only improve his manners. This boy LOVES walks and has a zest for getting out and about. He can pull on leash when excited, so a no-pull harness or Gentle Leader may help make walks more enjoyable. He’s fully house trained and has been trusted to stay loose when unsupervised, usually sticking to his gated area and dog bed like a gentleman. While he hasn’t been crated in his foster home, he’s done very well with the freedom and would likely thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, or with a flexible schedule. Mylo is currently fed separately from the other dogs—not because he’s aggressive, but because he prefers not to share his snacks or special treats. (Honestly, who among us does?) With his people, though, he’s playful, cuddly, and incredibly affectionate. He greets his foster dad with enthusiastic hops and playful vocalizations, looking like the happiest dog in the world—with his tongue hanging out and his tail wagging in full swing. He’s also very smart and responsive to redirection. He listens when called, loves being praised, and wants so badly to be a good boy. Like many herding breeds, he thrives on routine and benefits from clear communication and a bit of structure. He may occasionally flinch at quick movements or new objects (like a broom), so a patient home that understands his background and lets him settle in at his own pace will help him feel his best. Here’s what Mylo is hoping for in his forever home: - A moderately active family with a yard or access to one where he can run, sniff, and sunbathe - A few good walks a day or fetch sessions to burn energy and keep him happy - A family who will give him tons of love, belly rubs, and attention - People who embrace his quirky personality and celebrate his uniqueness - Continued support with basic manners like jumping and treat-taking (he’s already working on it!) - A home with older kids (10+) and maybe a friendly dog buddy or two - And most importantly: a soft place to land and be loved for exactly who he is Mylo is a one-of-a-kind pup with a silly smile, a loyal heart, and so much love to give. He’s smart, affectionate, endlessly goofy, and ready to find a family who sees his magic. If you’re looking for a lovable sidekick who will keep you laughing, snuggling, and moving, Mylo might be the perfect match for you. ___ **Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. ___ Meet Brody – a 5 year-old, 65-pound neutered male Cattle Dog/Pitbull mix with the perfect mix of playful energy and easygoing charm. Currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS, Brody is ready to transport out of state once his forever family is approved. Brody is that rare, wonderful balance of being active enough to enjoy outdoor adventures and mellow enough to fully embrace a lazy day of Netflix and cuddles. Whether he’s chasing a toy in the backyard or melting into your side with his signature tongue-out smile, Brody is the definition of a lovable goofball. He doesn’t mind getting dressed up for holidays or themed events—he’s happy to strut in his rodeo best or festive costume, just as long as he’s doing it with his people. Brody has done best with friendly, laid-back female dogs and tends to prefer a more relaxed playmate. Because of his size and love for running, he may be a bit much for smaller or more timid dogs, but he’s also fully content being your one-and-only pup, as long as he has space to stretch his legs and get some zoomies out in the yard. A home with a secure backyard is ideal for him to enjoy some off-leash play. He’s a gentle sweetheart with people—always happy to meet new faces and has done well with the children he’s met. Because of his playful energy, we recommend a home with older, dog-savvy kids (8–10+) who are steady on their feet and understand how to respectfully interact with dogs. Brody would love nothing more than a buddy to play with, run around the yard, and then wind down with for snuggles. No cats for Brody, please, as he’s not quite sure how to share space with feline friends. When it comes to leash manners, Brody is a total gentleman. He walks calmly on a loose leash, stays close by, and enjoys a good stroll. He’s also fully housebroken and crate trained, and does wonderfully in his crate when left unsupervised, especially since he currently shares a home with other dogs. He loves his plush toys—especially giving their faces a little “customization” with his enthusiastic chomps! Brody is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He thrives in a home that offers structure, consistency, and encouragement. His foster mom has put in great work helping him polish his obedience skills, and he’s made huge progress! While he may still get a little excited around assertive male dogs, with calm guidance and continued positive experiences, he’s continued to show how well he can adapt. He would be a great match for someone with experience with Cattle Dogs, Pitbulls, or other intelligent working breeds. These dogs are deeply loyal, affectionate, and thrive when they have a purpose—whether that’s going on a hike, learning a new trick, or just being your loyal shadow. Brody doesn’t need a super active lifestyle, but he would love a couple of daily walks, light adventure time, and maybe a fun activity like scent work, agility, or basic obedience classes to keep his mind sharp and his bond with you strong. At the end of the day, Brody is a happy, affectionate, low-maintenance boy who’s easy to please. All he wants is a soft bed, a few toys, a cozy home, and someone to love him. He’s come so far during his time in foster care and is more than ready to start his next chapter with a family who sees how truly special he is. ___ ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Story
You know that dog who just fits into a family like she’s always been there? That’s Daisy May the kind of dog you meet once and immediately start picturing in your life. Like… family movie nights? She’s curled up right in the middle. Kids running around? She’s right there, gently soaking it all in like she’s always belonged. She has this incredibly sweet, soft nature about her that just fits into a family dynamic so naturally, it’s almost like she was made for it. And her size? Perfect. Not too big, not too small, just the ideal little sidekick you can take anywhere and include in everything. She might take a minute to warm up at first, just quietly observing and figuring things out, but once she knows you? That’s it. You’ve got a loyal little shadow who just wants to be part of your everyday life, whether that’s helping with chores, hanging with the kids, or snuggling in at the end of the day. Watch her video and fall in love with this sweet girl: https://youtu.be/XdaolKpGDi8?si=P3CafRHnpH_UIYl5 Daisy May is believed to be a Cattle dog/heeler mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs about 30lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. Isn’t she the sweetest thing ever?! We totally agree and so do her foster parents. They cannot stop raving about her and have said she is easy going, sweet as can be, a great companion, and just loves to be included. Daisy brings cuteness, curiosity, and a whole lot of love. She’s playful, sweet, and oh so cuddly, with a personality as big as her heart. Her daily routine? Eat, sleep, play, snuggle, repeat! Not only does she have a sweet and gentle personality, but Daisy is wonderful with kids and is currently fostered in a home with children ranging in ages 11 months to 6 years old. She is so sweet and loving with kids and is even a gentle princess with the baby. You’ll see in her video how incredibly loving and gentle she is with the baby. It’s the sweetest thing, and she would make a wonderful companion for a family with kids. When it comes to other dogs, she has the sweetest little heart and can feel a little unsure when meeting new friends right away. When she’s feeling nervous she may show her cute little teefers or tuck her tail, which is simply her way of saying she needs a moment to figure things out. It’s all part of her learning that new doggy friends can be safe and fun. The good news is that her interest in other dogs is very much there, she just needs a bit of reassurance in the beginning and to be with dogs that give her that space to do so. With gentle introductions and kind, patient male dog companions, she begins to relax and show more of her playful, happy side. She’s still building confidence and discovering that making new friends can be a wonderful thing. Because of this, she would do best with a calm, friendly male dog who has good social manners and a kind, reassuring personality. A dog who is happy to invite her to play, but also respectful enough to give her little breaks when she needs them, would be a wonderful match. With the right canine buddy and a supportive home, we believe her confidence will continue to blossom and she’ll grow into a happy little member of the pack. She would also be just as happy being your one and only fur baby too. When it comes to cats, that cattle dog/heeler side really shows itself and will chase a cat, so no kitties for this little lady. Daisy is already so well behaved and according to her foster, already has wonderful house manners too. She is mastering her leash skills and comes prepped already knowing a couple of basic commands such as sit and is eager to learn any new tricks you want to teach her. She loves treats, is eager to please, and has already proven she's a smart little girl. The perfect trifecta for any additional training you would like to do with her in the future. It’ll be an enjoyable bonding experience for you both. Daisy would thrive in a home with a backyard where she can romp around, stretch her legs, play with her toys, and relax in the sun. It doesn’t take much to make her happy. Daisy loves to play with toys and will happily keep herself entertained with a toy or you’ll find her snuggling up with your kids. She has a well balanced energy and can match whatever you want from her. In all honesty though, she is completely happy being a total couch potato as well. We are willing to test Daisy May with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? If you’re looking for a lovable sidekick who will keep you laughing, snuggling, and moving, Mylo might be the perfect match for you. ___ **Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. ******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. Copper is a very sweet, playful guy! He is around 4 years old, and at his last vet visit weighed in at 60 pounds. We think Copper probably has some Australian Shepherd, along with several other breeds including possibly Belgian Shepherd, Greyhound or Carolina dog. Copper is a beautiful and happy boy. He’s lucky to be alive! Copper came to us from the shelter at a time when he was minutes from losing his life because he had an upper respiratory infection. We are so glad he is with us now, and he is in a training program getting ready for his forever home! Copper does well in a crate, he also does well on a leash. Copper would love to be a hiking or running buddy! His foster mom said he is doing well at learning house training. **Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Mia! Mia is making her debut here at our rescue after her owner turned her out on the streets in rural Oklahoma where she had several litters of puppies and developed severe hair loss due to years of chronic demodex. Her skin is soft now and most of her beautiful coat has filled in. She still has some bald spots and her skin scrape is negative, so we are unsure if she will have new hair growth in the bald areas or not. After wonderful care from our vet and foster mom, daily Apoquel and high quality food... Mia is ready for her forever home! Mia is the definition of a smart velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side or in your car 24/7. Mia is the master of playing fetch, loves to tear up stuffed toys, opens gate latches and door latches! Although Mia loves people small children and small dogs make her very nervous...not aggressive as there are small dogs in her foster home...just nervous. She is fine with bigger dogs and kids! Mia's foster mom thinks Mia is part angel!! It's time for Mia to share her love with her new person! Could that be you? Interested in becoming a forever home for Mia? Story
Arlo is his name and his gentle eyes match his heart perfectly! Arlo is currently fostered in a loving home with three kids (ages 4–12), and his daily routine reads like a cozy family story. Mornings start with breakfast and a short walk to the bus stop with the kids, followed by backyard zoomies and toy time with his small dog buddy. Then it’s nap time… until the kids come home and it’s right back to play, connection, and winding down together for the evening. He is house and crate trained, knows the rhythm of home life, and truly thrives when he knows where his people are. Go watch Arlo on YouTube, then come right back to read more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw53vBp1SkA Arlo is estimated to be 1 year old, he weighs 48 lbs and may be a husky/shepherd mix but of course, he is a rescue so we cannot guarantee age or breed. Arlo’s foster has had a wonderful front row seat to the Arlo show and shared so much about him. We lovingly call him a “slow bloom, big reward” kind of dog. He can be shy when meeting new people and may hang back at first, taking everything in from a safe distance and in these moments you see just how adoring and devoted he is. This is when he looks to his person for reassurance while he figures things out. But with a little time, a little patience, and a steady routine… on the other side you have the sweetest, most devoted boy who just wants to be close to you. One thing that helps Arlo feel his best is having a canine buddy, especially a smaller dog. He absolutely lights up around his little foster sibling, following along, playing, and gaining confidence just by having that companionship. Bigger dogs can feel a bit overwhelming for him right now, so a home with a smaller, friendly dog or a calm, easygoing larger dog (with a thoughtful introduction and decompression time) would be ideal. Arlo would feel most comfortable in a home with a yard where he can settle in and build confidence at his own pace. Walks in busy or unfamiliar places can feel like a lot for him right now, but he’s a smart, trainable boy who just needs time, consistency, and someone willing to show him the world can be a safe and gentle place. If you’ve ever loved a shy dog, you already know… there is something incredibly special about earning their trust. Arlo isn’t trying to be everyone’s dog. He’s waiting to be someone’s dog. And when he is, it’s the kind of bond that feels steady and true. Are you Arlo’s person? Apply today and welcome home a gentle family boy who just might become your favorite little shadow. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/697b7a35063e5fe841006850 Questions?
