Knows 'sit,' 'lie down,' and getting acquainted with 'stay,' 'leave it,' and 'get down. Very interested in other dogs, but willing to be instructed to 'leave it' and carry on walking when we passed yards or houses with barking dogs. Fairly good on a leash. Very energetic, will be a good companion for someone athletic. Hi, I’ve just recently arrived after HSDC helped rescue me from a local puppy mill who discarded me. I’m finally experiencing so many firsts like being petted, hugged and loved! I’m looking for a patient adopter to help me decompress from the mill and learn what it’s like to finally get to be a dog. It is REQUIRED that my new home has another dog friend to help me gain confidence about life outside the mills. How did I get here? Ohio ranks second in the nation for puppy mills, with documented violations including poor living conditions and lack of medical care for dogs. The Humane Society of the United States has identified 16 of the worst puppy mills in Ohio, where dogs suffer both physically and mentally. Recent news stories are highlighting the urgent need for industry reform, but we’re not there yet. Lucy is a 7 mo old 30 lb friendly pup who we think looks like an Australian heeler and husky. Lucy has stunning black rimmed blue eyes and beautiful heeler markings. She is a bit shy but once settled, is very respectful of kids, gets along with other dogs, and enjoys cuddles on the couch with her humans.Lucy keeps her kennel clean and is doing great with going to the bathroom outside in her foster home. She's slightly timid meeting strangers but warms up with patience. A volunteer took Lucy home to see how she responded to home life knowing she was very timid at the kennel, and it was amazing to see the transformation. Lucy opened up and loved having a pack of friendly dogs to play with and a small human to give pets. We think Lucy would be a wonderful addition to a home! Prudence is the most loyal companion! We’ve had her since she was a few weeks old. Her birthday is 10/10/22. She’s amazing with our 9 year old lab and 2 cats. We sincerely love her!! The only reason why we need to rehome her is because we don’t have the room for her to run. She’s getting depressed. She tries to “heard” our 5 year old and other kids that come over because she has a lot of energy. I regret that I didn’t do more research on the breed, I have to live with that. She absolutely loves to be outdoors and she aims to please! She’s a working dog and needs the room to run/have a job. She’s a wonderful guard dog and needs a little training toward smaller dogs/babies. She’s amazing with a frisbee and can play fetch for hours! She’s very good at commands. She loves to cuddle and loves being around dogs her size. She’s a little skittish until she knows you. Once she does, she will want kisses and literally all of the hugs. No rehoming fee because we can’t put a price on her.
