Hi, I’ve just recently arrived after HSDC helped rescue me from a local puppy mill who discarded me. I’m finally experiencing so many firsts like being petted, hugged and loved! I’m looking for a patient adopter to help me decompress from the mill and learn what it’s like to finally get to be a dog. How did I get here? Ohio ranks second in the nation for puppy mills, with documented violations including poor living conditions and lack of medical care for dogs. The Humane Society of the United States has identified 16 of the worst puppy mills in Ohio, where dogs suffer both physically and mentally. Recent news stories are highlighting the urgent need for industry reform, but we’re not there yet. Advocacy for better conditions and responsible breeding practices is crucial to address this ongoing issue. If you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to HSDC!

Lucy is a 7 mo old 30 lb friendly pup who we think looks like an Australian heeler and husky.Lucy has stunning black rimmed blue eyes and beautiful heeler markings. Spayed and utd with vaccinations!Lucy does well with other dogs and keeps a very very clean kennel. We believe she is housetrained.She's slightly timid meeting strangers but warms up very quickly. Willy (William) is our tiny little deaf and blind special little guy. He is spunky and does whine when hes not getting enough attention. William is quite teeny tiny, definitely the little runt of the litter (about 1/2 the size of his brother) Willy will always need a buddy by his side, he does not do well alone. He loves attention from kids and snuggles as much as possible. Hes not a great eater, but does love to chew on a bone or play with a toy. He also sleeps through the night without whining in his room. Willy will require a special family who is willing to work with him and give him plenty of love and attention. Owner will cover 3rd and 4th set.

Silky soft, snuggly, and eager to please all the people he meets. Oakley is willing to trust new people, show his belly, give kisses. Knows 'sit,' 'lie down,' and getting acquainted with 'stay,' 'leave it,' and 'get down. Very interested in other dogs, but willing to be instructed to 'leave it' and carry on walking when we passed yards or houses with barking dogs. Fairly good on a leash. Very energetic, will be a good companion for someone athletic. But also Willing to hang out quietly while I you work on the computer or watched TV; even willing to ignore the nearby cats most of time. Curious about them but not wanting to interact with them. Before considering him as a pet do research on the breed. He is a herding dog and will try to steer you where he thinks you need to go. This will include nipping at your heels and hands if they are by your side. He will be good with older kids that understand his behavior.
