Story
Meet Indra! This adorable thing is a female Cattle Dog/Mountain Cur Mix who is 11 weeks old (DOB 9/26/25) who currently weighs 10.6 pounds. She is all things puppy! Clumsy, nosy, naps alot, no sense of personal space and did we mention adorable?! We are predicting she will be less than 50 pounds when full grown, but we have not seen mom or dad, so there is no guarantee. Indra will be spayed on December 17 and will be available on December 18, 19 or 20. This dog will need consistent training and socialization, as well as A LOT of physical and mental stimulation. She is going to try to herd everything in sight. If you aren't committed to the training, this is not the dog for you. We are not likely to approve this dog to an apartment dweller. Australian Cattle Dogs (ACDs) can be excellent, loyal, and rewarding pets for the right active family that understands their high energy, intelligence, and need for a "job," but they are not ideal for sedentary owners or first-timers, as they require significant physical and mental stimulation, proper training, and early socialization to prevent destructive behaviors or herding/nipping at kids. They bond deeply with their owners, making them devoted companions, but their intense protective nature and herding instincts need an outlet. According to Google, the Mountain Cur's high energy levels mean they need regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Mountain Cur dogs do best in a home with an active, outdoorsy family who spends their weekends hiking, hunting, or just hanging out in their fenced-in yard They are naturally courageous, intelligent, and loyal, with strong protective instincts that make them excellent watchdogs. They are a high prey drive driven working dog with a loud bark. Getting them as a puppy and training them properly is key. Indra is a cast off from an high volume breeder in Amish country who came in as part of a load of rescues. That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with these dogs. They could have been the wrong color, size, fur, whatever. We are lucky enough to work with a vet in the area who cares enough to scoop up these dogs and get them adopted instead of ........?? Adoption fee is $500 All Ashland County Humane Society animals' adoption fees include: ~spay/neuter ~micro-chip ~de-worming ~vaccinations, including rabies ~heartworm prevention If you are interested in adopting this dog, please visit: www.ashlandhumane.org/adoption-application (copy and paste link to address bar) for a printable application. She’s not the kind of dog most people would call “fancy,” and she doesn’t need to be. Her beauty lives deeper — in her eyes, in her steady presence, and in the gentle joy that radiates from her heart. If you pause for just a moment and truly look at her, you’ll see it — the quiet grace of a soul that’s pure, loyal, and endlessly loving. Haumea stays right by your side, as if she’s always known that companionship is life’s greatest gift. Her heart is joy in its most honest form. She gives it freely and asks for nothing more than a place to belong. Whoever looks past the surface and chooses this beautiful girl will gain more than a dog — they’ll gain comfort, laughter, and a love so constant it will change their days forever. Adopting Haumea won’t just be a good decision. It will be the best one you ever make.   Please email us at diane@ulpr.org and request an application. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 9, 2025, 1:23 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Cheyenne Blue Heeler / Lab Mix | ~12 weeks old | ~18 lbs Cheyenne is a confident, intelligent, and affectionate young girl with a wonderful balance of loyalty and independence. She’s the kind of puppy who makes you smile every day — bright, capable, and full of personality. She is incredibly smart for her age and is already showing great house habits, keeping herself clean and picking up on routines quickly. Cheyenne enjoys being around people and seeks out affection, but she also has an independent streak that allows her to entertain herself when you’re busy — truly the best of both worlds. She gets along beautifully with other dogs, reads social cues well, and fits in easily with a group. Whether she’s playing, exploring, or relaxing nearby, she carries herself with calm confidence and curiosity. We believe Cheyenne is a Blue Heeler / Lab mix, a combination known for intelligence, loyalty, and adaptability. These dogs tend to form strong bonds with their people while also being capable, thoughtful companions. Cheyenne would do wonderfully in a home that appreciates a smart dog who enjoys connection, routine, and inclusion in daily life. She’s going to grow into a devoted, well-rounded companion — the kind of dog who is always nearby, always aware, and always part of the family. If Cheyenne sounds like the kind of dog you’ve been waiting for, we’d love to hear more about your home and lifestyle. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans.
