Story
Hi my name is Flower! I was saved from the shelter with just moments to spare and I'm so thankful for that. I love to race around and play, but I also love a good nap! I need a family who is active outdoors so I can romp around and get my energy out.  I am crate trained and house trained. I have been to board and train to work on my leash manners. Are you ready to be my fur-ever family? ##1636567##

Story
Key words: • chill vibes• affectionate• Affectionate towards people• not good with other dogs• heartworm positive; ongoing treatment• good working from home• not a barkerMy name is Rolando, but you can call me Rolly, and I am an 8 year old Australian cattle dog mix.I was at the Wake County Animal Shelter from June to July before going home with a foster family. If you want a low-maintenance, chill-energy dog, then I'm the one you're looking for.I enjoy lounging, looking for affection, and walks (which have to be shorter because I'm heartworm positive).I love meeting new people. If I see someone, I will want to go say hi, which is great, because I'm a big hit in this neighborhood! However, I am very up-front with other dogs and can't help myself with boundaries - I like to go right up to them and this is off-putting to most other dogs. For this reason, I need to be monitored closely when I'm around other dogs.I'm neutered, housebroken, and receiving treatment for my heartworms and I'm ready to bring love and affection to a new family. Story
(DOB 02/20/2024) Maple is a very energetic dog and looking for an equally active person or family. She wants to play with everyone and everything, even if they don't want to, like cats or old dogs. Walks and play time are a must; she doesn't seem to run out of energy. So if you have a similar "energizer-bunny" lifestyle, this girl is waiting for someone just like you!! Her favorite thing to do is to be around her humans bringing one toy after another to have someone play tug-o-war or fetch with her. She loves to run outside, but without a companion or human she will quickly get bored and try to go find her friends again. She has a bit of social butterfly personality for sure. Maple wants another PLAYFUL & F-U-N doggie friend in her forever home! She would be lonely as an only dog and would miss the playful interactions of a furry sibling. Doggie day car is another fun daily activity for Maple. Maple is a bit of a digger. She loves being outdoors and rooting around in the backyard. The backyard is full fun and adventure. She will often try to stick anything she sees on the ground in her mouth; oh, some of the joys of puppy-time. Maple would love a fenced in yard to play with her doggie friends and it would probably be best unless her new family was committed to a lot of daily walks, jogs, playtime and outings to burn off her energy. Maple is a friendly girl and likes other dogs, is good with kids but they should be older just because of her energy level and excitment, and is also ok with the cats at her foster home but will chase them. She also has no stranger fear and loves to meet new people; certainly, she believes, they are loving meeting her, too! She is a bit nervous in the car to start but settles in. Maple sleeps in her crate and goes into her crate when she is told; she does so with a little piece of kibble as her "big" reward. She can sit and stay when told (and working on other commands). She is also working on leash training and still pulls. Plus, if she sees a squirl, bunny or something she definitely is still very interested and would love to take chase! All in good fun, of course. She hardly ever barks, but if she knows it's dinner time she will whine the cutest little whine. Who doesn't get excited over a delicious meal? As part of Maple’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Maple, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2163154##

Story
CarsonNeutered Male DogGood with dogsNo children/children over 14 onlyHousetrainedCrate-trainedWeight 45.0About Carson: Meet Carson, a.k.a. our little teddy bear, a pint-sized cattle dog mix who is full ofpersonality! This sweet boy embodies the typical cattle dog personality – always ready to be in the mixof things and always making sure his humans are keeping his days filled with his favorite things: chewtoys, outside zoomie times, walkies, and of course dinner! Carson is full of energy when its time to play, but also loves a good snuggle (on his terms of course) when its time for TV and bed. True to cattle dogform, he is full of opinions on where he and his humans should be and needs reminding to keep mouthyplay under control. For that reason, we recommend households with older/no children.Training and Habits:Potty Training: Carson has been doing great with his potty training! He had a few accidents in hisfirst weeks in foster (mostly marking), but those have become few and far between as he’sgotten used to the swing of things. And he’s been accident free since his neuter!Crate: Toss a treat in the crate, and Carson will go in happily. He does not like to be forced intothe crate, and will give you a growl/look back. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, but willbark for a couple minutes if you put him in during the day and he hears you still moving about.Leash: Carson’s getting the hang of things on a leash. He has an old hip injury (see health below),so we’ve been keeping walks on the shorter side and letting him choose the pace. He’s beenworking on loose leash walking – so far a lot of pulling with excitement at the start, but heresponds well to you stopping when you hit the end of the leash. On a leash, he shows interestin other dogs, but passes them well and has been non-reactive.Playtime: Like most cattle dogs, Carson has spurts of high energy! He redirects to toys well whenhe gets mouthy. So far, he’s been excellent at chasing balls but we’re still working on theretrieving. He also loves playing gentle tugs with us or playing hard with our cattle dog mix.Cuddles and Comfort: Carson loves being near his family! He does whine a bit when we/our dog leaves, but will settle after a few minutes. He is a constant companion, and loves curling up in your lap whenyou sit on the ground. He also will come snuggle on the couch with a big ole leap from all four paws atonce! He does have opinions on surprise snuggles though, and will let you know if you invade his spacewith a growl.Exercise Needs: Since Carson has an old hip injury, we try to keep his higher impact activities self-directed. He gets his zoomies out in our backyard, and plays hard with our pup. We try to keep his walksto 1 mile or less a few times per week, although he may be able to build on this. We keep his mind busywith Kongs/lick mats and we’re working on teaching him to take treats gently since we think this smartguy would take pretty well to trick training!Ideal Home: Carson’s ideal home is somewhere where he can be with his people and safely get hiszoomies out! Since we worry that daily long walks may be hard on his hip, he’d probably do best in ahome where he has a fenced yard or daily access to an enclosed outdoor space. He gets along well withour spayed female dog, but we also think he’d be fine with his humans all to himself! Adults only or ahome with respectful, older children is best since he is mouthy with play and has opinions about hisbodily autonomy.Health: Carson is neutered, microchipped, dewormed and up-to-date on his shots. He is heartwormpositive and going through treatment. He also has a broken pelvis that healed on its own slightly out ofplace. This does cause him some pain that is well managed with a low-cost pain med regime. SecondChance is happy to provide your vet with his x-rays and discuss this treatment plan.***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Once your application has been confirmed and approved, we will be send it over to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a good match for the dog. In the event one lucky dog receives multiple applications, please know we do not select based on a first come basis. We try our best to select the best-fit for our animals and families. ***

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Sid is a fun guy with big ears and lots of personality. He is very treat motivated and a quick learner. He loves to cuddle and be with his person.  This handsome canine friend has a leash aggression trait, which means that he thrives best in a home where he can be the sole dog. Sid's ideal environment includes a fenced yard, allowing him the space to explore, play, and enjoy the outdoors in a secure setting. In his foster home, Sid has shown great compatibility with other dogs. However, it's important to note that when meeting new canine friends while on a leash, Sid might take a bit of time to warm up. Patience is the key with Sid, as he transitions from cautious to comfortable when introduced to other dogs in a controlled manner. Sid's journey has shaped him into a loyal and loving companion, and his unique needs add a layer of charm to his personality. While he may need some time to build trust with other dogs, the rewards of having Sid as part of your family are immeasurable. To apply for adoption visit: https://www.pawfectmatch.org/info/adoptionVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 2:18 pm
