Story
Key words: • chill vibes• affectionate• Affectionate towards people• not good with other dogs• heartworm positive; ongoing treatment• good working from home• not a barkerMy name is Rolando, but you can call me Rolly, and I am an 8 year old Australian cattle dog mix.I was at the Wake County Animal Shelter from June to July before going home with a foster family. If you want a low-maintenance, chill-energy dog, then I'm the one you're looking for.I enjoy lounging, looking for affection, and walks (which have to be shorter because I'm heartworm positive).I love meeting new people. If I see someone, I will want to go say hi, which is great, because I'm a big hit in this neighborhood! However, I am very up-front with other dogs and can't help myself with boundaries - I like to go right up to them and this is off-putting to most other dogs. For this reason, I need to be monitored closely when I'm around other dogs.I'm neutered, housebroken, and receiving treatment for my heartworms and I'm ready to bring love and affection to a new family. Story
Marcella is a happy, silly girl looking for her second forever home. She was adopted as a puppy but came back recently because her family could not take care of her anymore. She's put on a few pounds since we last saw her, but she's eating nothing but salads and going to the gym twice a week, so we think she'll be able to squeeze into that bikini this summer.Marcella does well with everyone with proper introductions, which are very important because she's deaf. You really can't tell though, because she's very observant and pays close attention. For a dog that can't hear, she listens really well!Marcella is looking for a low-key home (she can get kind of amped up in chaos) with a family that will support her journey to wellness. She has some weight-related joint issues, but gets around just fine. She is house-trained, crate-trained, and very smart. If you're interested in learning more about Marcella, email her foster mom at diadrascritters@gmail.com. You can also see her in IG: #marcellawiththegoodears Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 57 Age: 8yrs 2mths 0wks

Story
Calle is a 3 year old sweet girl, who came in as a stray a couple days after Christmas. Calle is a good size at 49 pounds-even though she came in as a stray, she has been well fed and she appears that she was someone's pet with her short, well groomed coat. Calle also appears that she may have had puppies in the past-Calle barks in her kennel to get your attention-she warms up quickly and is easy to collar-walks well on leash, always looking behind her to check in-as if to say-let's do this!!!She is not interested in treats when outside-too much to see and sniff-when return back to kennel, she takes treats gently and sits nicely for you to leave. Calle's coloring and markings suggest that she may have some Australian Cattledog in her breed-a working dog, intelligent and energetic. At 3 years old, she is at the end of her puppy stage-but seems to have a lot of energy on her walks. Would probably love an active family and plenty of chew toys. Come and meet her today.Calle is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
CarsonNeutered Male DogGood with dogsNo children/children over 14 onlyHousetrainedCrate-trainedWeight 45.0About Carson: Meet Carson, a.k.a. our little teddy bear, a pint-sized cattle dog mix who is full ofpersonality! This sweet boy embodies the typical cattle dog personality – always ready to be in the mixof things and always making sure his humans are keeping his days filled with his favorite things: chewtoys, outside zoomie times, walkies, and of course dinner! Carson is full of energy when its time to play, but also loves a good snuggle (on his terms of course) when its time for TV and bed. True to cattle dogform, he is full of opinions on where he and his humans should be and needs reminding to keep mouthyplay under control. For that reason, we recommend households with older/no children.Training and Habits:Potty Training: Carson has been doing great with his potty training! He had a few accidents in hisfirst weeks in foster (mostly marking), but those have become few and far between as he’sgotten used to the swing of things. And he’s been accident free since his neuter!Crate: Toss a treat in the crate, and Carson will go in happily. He does not like to be forced intothe crate, and will give you a growl/look back. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night, but willbark for a couple minutes if you put him in during the day and he hears you still moving about.Leash: Carson’s getting the hang of things on a leash. He has an old hip injury (see health below),so we’ve been keeping walks on the shorter side and letting him choose the pace. He’s beenworking on loose leash walking – so far a lot of pulling with excitement at the start, but heresponds well to you stopping when you hit the end of the leash. On a leash, he shows interestin other dogs, but passes them well and has been non-reactive.Playtime: Like most cattle dogs, Carson has spurts of high energy! He redirects to toys well whenhe gets mouthy. So far, he’s been excellent at chasing balls but we’re still working on theretrieving. He also loves playing gentle tugs with us or playing hard with our cattle dog mix.Cuddles and Comfort: Carson loves being near his family! He does whine a bit when we/our dog leaves, but will settle after a few minutes. He is a constant companion, and loves curling up in your lap whenyou sit on the ground. He also will come snuggle on the couch with a big ole leap from all four paws atonce! He does have opinions on surprise snuggles though, and will let you know if you invade his spacewith a growl.Exercise Needs: Since Carson has an old hip injury, we try to keep his higher impact activities self-directed. He gets his zoomies out in our backyard, and plays hard with our pup. We try to keep his walksto 1 mile or less a few times per week, although he may be able to build on this. We keep his mind busywith Kongs/lick mats and we’re working on teaching him to take treats gently since we think this smartguy would take pretty well to trick training!Ideal Home: Carson’s ideal home is somewhere where he can be with his people and safely get hiszoomies out! Since we worry that daily long walks may be hard on his hip, he’d probably do best in ahome where he has a fenced yard or daily access to an enclosed outdoor space. He gets along well withour spayed female dog, but we also think he’d be fine with his humans all to himself! Adults only or ahome with respectful, older children is best since he is mouthy with play and has opinions about hisbodily autonomy.Health: Carson is neutered, microchipped, dewormed and up-to-date on his shots. He is heartwormpositive and going through treatment. He also has a broken pelvis that healed on its own slightly out ofplace. This does cause him some pain that is well managed with a low-cost pain med regime. SecondChance is happy to provide your vet with his x-rays and discuss this treatment plan.***Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. If someone has caught your eye and you wish to arrange a meet and greet, we do need you to fill out the adoption application. When your adoption application is received our screening team will verify the information given. Once your application has been confirmed and approved, we will be send it over to the foster parent for review to determine if your home is a good match for the dog. In the event one lucky dog receives multiple applications, please know we do not select based on a first come basis. We try our best to select the best-fit for our animals and families. ***

Story
This is my sweet girl Nairobi, this decision has been really hard for my son and I. Nairobi has been a part of our family since she was a puppy and shes now about to turn 5 on July 15th. Unfortunately, due do financial issues I am not able to care for her in the way she deserves and I want to find her a family that can love and care for her the way that we do. Nairobi is playful, silly, loving and the sweetest girl. She loves to run and jump but loves cuddles and giving kisses.

Story
We are seeking a new forever home for our sweet dog, Marley. She's an affectionate and obedient companion, knowing commands like "sit," "lay down," and "fetch." Marley is best as the only dog in the household and is not suitable for homes with infants or small children due to past incidents. Marley loves to cuddle, play ball, and will comfort you when you're feeling down. She enjoys snacks like carrots and watermelon and is a bit spoiled (in the best way!). She also has a strong hunting instinct, so any critters in the yard beware! If you’re looking for a loyal and intelligent companion, Marley may be the perfect fit for you! Please reach out if interested. Thank you for considering giving Marley a loving home!

Story
I acquired Denver from a breeder off of Facebook that is no longer breeding dogs. He is three years old and full of life and energy. He is a very loyal obedient Aussie. He can be territorial at times with other dogs entering his home but gets used to them after awhile. He is initially unsure about strangers but once he gets to know you he loves you. Very patient and good with kids. I unfortunately do not have the time that he needs and would like to give him to a loving/caring home.
