He did pull a little but slowed down to my paced in time. He knows sit and down commands. A sweet stout gentleman.Volunteer notes, 6/26/24:Baxter is high energy and loves to run. He will come when called. Affectionate.Volunteer notes, 5/12/24:Loved chasing then bringing back the tennis ball. Enjoyed a longer walk, curious to sights and sounds, but not pulling. Startled my movement in the woods, but recovered, no pulling to chase anything. Enjoyed being petted, sitting in the grass togetherVolunteer notes, 5/7/24:Today we learned that Baxter loves to chase balls, but his idea of playing fetch is to touch the ball with his nose and run back. He is sweet, friendly, goofy, and hilarious. He loves treats!Voluntee

Hello all! This is Oreo and he is a gorgeous guy who would love to find his forever home. Oreo adores his soft plush toys and will carry them around in his mouth all day if he could! Oreo can be weary and untrusting of strangers, and he will likely take some time to open up. Dogs like Oreo require some patience, but once these dogs feel they can trust you fully, they have the potential to blossom into great pets. Every animal goes through an adjustment period (some take longer than others) when finding a home and it is important to be aware of this. We highly recommend that Oreo does not go into a home with children or other dogs, as Oreo has not been good at making dog friends and can be a little overwhelming for children. We do not know how he is with cats or livestock. Come meet this handsome guy today!

Hi there, my name is Fancy! I came in as a stray, so not much is known about me. I seem to be a smart and active younger dog who loves yummy treats and learning new things! Of course, we always recommend slow and monitored introductions with new people or other pets in the home. If you have any questions, please ask to speak with staff. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope we can be friends!

Story
Dog Day Out, 7/27/24:Rocky was great today. He is a super friendly and sweet dog. I had initially wanted to see how he would do in a more relaxed environment instead of just taking him on a hike. Let me start by saying that Rocky is one of the sweetest dogs I`ve been around. He`s super relaxed once we gets to know you and you`ll notice a demeanor change once he`s warmed up to you! He`s a huge snuggle bug and was perfectly content with laying on my wood floor while I laid on the sofa. We had some lunch and Rocky did not beg and went to lay down, not paying much mind to the food we had. He is super sweet and he walks okay on the leash but there`s room for improvement. I would adopt this dog if my family member was not allergic. He is great! Foster notes, 6/1/24:Rocky is such a sweet pup! It definitely took him some time to come out of his shell and warm up to everyone. It took him longer to get comfortable with my husband than myself. He has been great with our 3 and 6 year old kids--he`s not bothered by them at all. A weird thing we learned is that he can walk UP stairs, but he is afraid to walk back DOWN them... It`s possible that this is because our stairs are narrow and hardwood, but he wouldn`t go near them and eventually had to be carried down. He`s very laid back about eating--just sort of grazes and has no food aggression. He lets you know when he needs to go out to potty. Mostly he follows me from room to room and just lays near wherever I am. He doesn`t bark at all, is very relaxed, but always seems down for an outing! At first, he didn`t seem to know any commands or even respond very well to his name. But once he got more comfortable and I got some treats, he seemed to know the drill. I haven`t tried to do too many commands, but we are going to keep working on it. He walks well on a leash. He doesn`t pull at all, but I don`t think he has a lot of practice with it because he doesn`t have leash awareness--he walks on the opposite side of poles or wraps himself or others up, etc. We have just been doing a once a day around the block walk and will hopefully get better. We left him home alone for just an hour and a half so far and he did fine. He wasn`t happy about us leaving, but didn`t bark or whine. When we got back, he was laying right by the door and nothing was chewed and no accidents. He REALLY doesn`t seem to like water. We wanted to give him a bath and he was not having it, lol!Foster notes, 4/30/24:Rocky is
