Story
Gentle Ben's estimated DOB is 06/12/2015 and he's a white and brown Red Heeler. He was found tied to a boat with a steel cable - he had deep injuries on his neck as a result from this cable digging into his skin. Regardless of how badly he was treated in the past, Gentle Ben is a sweet and happy boy these days! Ben adores all the attention he can get from his humans! This gentle boy can be shy and hesitant to trust new people but once that bond is made he is right by your side. This gentle soul does well in a crate at night and when recently in a foster home needed a few reminders about house training but seemed to pick up quickly on it. Ben has been known to pester cats and small animals so would do best as the only animal in the home. Ben can jump a regular chain-link fences, so he will require a privacy fenced home or leash walks. We would love love love to see someone take a chance on this perfect boy. He has gotten so used to life at the shelter that he seems to have given up on the possibility of a forever home, and doesn't show his true self when he's out at adoption events or meeting new people. Those of us that he knows well can attest that he is truly the sweetest, goodest boy! All of our pets are fixed, up to date on their vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open form 9am-4pm, seven days a week. For more information, please email us at havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com, or give us a call at 417-835-3647.

Story
Meet Apple Jack. He is one of 10 of our cereal crew who were born in the shelter! He is a medium sized dog, cattle dog mix. DOB 3/17/2024. Apple Jack (now Shiloh) was adopted but had to be returned due to no fault of his. He likes to play with other dogs, is house trained, crate trained, does well on a leash and knows lots of commands. Ice cubes are a favorite treat for him. He even will sit and wait to have his paws cleaned when coming inside! He can be timid and scared of loud noises or sudden movements. He will need time, love and patience in a new home. In his recent cold weather foster home it was reported that he loves racing around the yard, and he is very fast and graceful. He likes to play ball. He will retrieve the ball and can catch the ball in midair! He will whine and do a little dance when he needs to be let out to potty. He didn't chew on a single thing or have any accidents while staying in their home. They stated he is sweet, good natured and playful. They suggested an adopter should have hard chews and balls available for him. He knows sit and shake command and likes to doze at their feet by the recliner. He was respectful of their older dog and quickly made a playmate of their younger dog. He was curious yet cautious of their cats and listened when he was called away from their cats. Potential adopters can complete their application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt and come out to meet our pets any day between 9 AM - 4 PM. Email havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com with questions. All of our pets are fixed, microchipped and current on vaccinations before going home.

Story
Spot is a playful cattle dog mix. His DOB is 5/5/2018. He is housetrained, crate trained, and does good on car rides (he actually loves them!). He will let you know when he has to potty by going straight to the door and whining. When you tell him to go to bed, he'll go right into his kennel and relax. Spot is a little dog selective, so a meet and greet with potential fur siblings is a must! He has gotten along great with two other male dogs at this point. We think he wasn't treated right by men at some point in his life, because he is very nervous when they put their hand over his head to pet him. While he can learn to trust them, he needs patience and not someone that will immediately start pushing boundaries. New people coming into his home makes him nervous as well, so a home where he can chill out in his kennel when guests are around, or one where guests aren't frequent, would be best for this pretty guy. Spot is a cuddle-bug once he is comfortable, and an overall good boy, he just needs the right home! Spot is fixed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and ready to go home with you. Adopters can complete the adoption application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt. The Haven is open every day from 9 AM - 4 PM. No appointment needed for adopters.

Story
Meet Boudicca! He is a heeler/cattle dog mixed breed. Estimated DOB 7/16/2024. He is a sweet, timid guy but will warm up slowly to new people and dogs. He will need someone who has lots of patience. He loves to play with toys and hang out with his dog friends. He shows no aggression to cats. In his cold weather foster home, he appeared to be housetrained, having zero accidents in the house. Can you be Boudicca's hero and give him a loving home? All our pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. The Haven of the Ozarks is open from 9 am to 4 pm, seven days a week. No appointment is necessary for adopters. For more information, please email havenozarksanctuary@gmail.com.
