Story
Need to rehome our 6 year old dog Winston. He is a big cuddler and listens very well he can sit lay down roll over and speak, he is also crate trained. I have had him since he was a baby he is the most loyal baby and it breaks my heart to even make this post. He loves to play in the water and throw his toys up in the air. He loves to be around people but i think he would do best with a family that does not have kids. Unfortunately he is very protective over me and has become more anxious with our baby and gets snippy now that the baby is mobile. We need to find him somewhere with less stress. He is a rescue and we think australian shepherd/heeler mix. Message me if you have any questions or if you know someone who is looking for a companion.

Story
Meet Bennie – A Loving, Loyal Companion! Bennie is a smart and playful 4-year-old who’s ready for a new home. I adopted him at 1, and he’s been a joy with his love for catching tennis balls, even using his ball for comfort when he’s stressed. Due to a recent divorce and move, along with a full-time job that takes me away often, Bennie isn’t getting the attention he deserves. He’s happiest when he’s with someone and does get anxious when left alone for long. Mostly potty-trained, he occasionally has accidents when nervous or excited. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate dog, Bennie would love to be part of your family! Reach out if you can give him the attention and love he needs.

Story
We did Brownie's DNA! He's about half cattle dog and the next biggest result was Boxer but he is mixed with many other breeds. Brownie is a sweet, energetic and spunky guy who had a rough start in life. He loves affection and is a good boy. He was found as a stray in Bonne Terre and got picked up by animal control, which is just a shed. We believe Brownie would do best in a more quiet home with older or no kids and an active owner that would spoil him and give him the life he deserves. Brownie will need a fence as he has a high prey drive and loves to chase the yard critters. If there are other dogs in the home they should be about his size or bigger. He loves to play with the other dogs. He has been introduced to the dog savvy catin the house and they get along okay.We only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area. Please see our Adoption Policies here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TZjrOP29mqXvcHEC3zPaKXXnS80LaVGMA45Lc0-Z2MI/edit?usp=sharingInformation about the rescue and adoption process can also be found at www.stlpetrescue.com along with a full listing of our adoptable pets. Our adoption fees:Cats range from $150 to $175. Exotic breeds may be more. Dogs range from $250 to $350. High demand puppies and small dogs may be more. This fee includes: felv/fiv/heartworm testing, worming, flea and ear mite treatments, age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter, rabies vaccination, lab work, dental or other medical or surgical treatments as deemed necessary by our team of veterinarians and a microchip with free registration.

Story
I've been sponsored by the Petfinder Kia Grant to help reduce adoption fees. Thanks to the wonderful Petfinder Foundation my adoption fee is only $25.00! Hello there! I'm Maise, your future best friend. I'm a bundle of joy, full of playful energy and smart as a whip! I'm brave and independent, but don't let that fool you, I'm also as sweet as can be. I'm looking for a home with a privacy fence, it's just my preference. I love older children, they understand my playful nature and I can learn so much from them. I do prefer to be the only pet in the house, I like all the attention on me! I promise to fill your life with laughter, love, and loyalty. Adopting me means gaining a friend for life! Oh did I mention, I just finished a 7 week training program where I earned my certificate of compleation. I know how to come, sit, stay, down, leave it and many more tricks. I also love car rides, tug of war and fetch! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Story
Hi there! I'm BiBo, a 1 year old Heeler mix with tons of love to share! I'm a sweet and happy girl that was found wandering, but luckily someone swooped in and offered to help me out! I'm living with a foster now and he says I am a good girl. I've got a great little personality and would love to be someone's furever friend. I do good with other dogs and love to play. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2130401##
