Story
NEWBIE ALERT! Meet Kavi! This sweet girl is being pulled from a rural overcrowded shelter with her one surviving baby! Kavi is a cattle dog mix. She’s around 2 years old and 40 lbs. She’s a super sweet girl. She gets along with others and just wants to be loved. She’s been the best momma but that time is coming to an end and her baby is being weaned. She will be adoption ready once cleared for spay. She is utd and hw tested. We will update her info once settled in!  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Thank you! Story
INCOMING!  This cutie is Julia. She is an adorable heeler/doxie/terrier mix — or something along those lines anyways —  that came to us from a local overcrowded shelter. Julia is 4 years old and weighs 33lbs! She’s a very friendly and happy girl. She does wonderful with all people and all size dogs. She is even good with chickens and adores kids. She’s  getting settled into foster and will complete her vetting 11/6/24. We will update her pics and info as we get it!  Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. Bonnie has spent a few months at the humane society, which has been stressful for her, but she`s ready to find her forever home where she can relax and truly shine. Bonnie is a quick learner who loves to master new tricks, and her enthusiasm is contagious. She`s a big jumper, always eager to greet you with a warm welcome. While she gets along well with other dogs, Bonnie sometimes needs her own space to unwind and decompress. Story
Sprinkles is a 3 year old heartworm positive Australian Cattle Dog in search of her forever home, she is currently available for foster or adoption as she is nervous when meeting new people, she is as sweet as can be once she has warmed up to you. Sprinkles will need to be leash walked only for some time until she has learned to trust her people, so far life has been rough for this girl as she was on the run and wouldn`t go to anyone for help, luckily she was caught in a humane trap so she could be brought to HSSM to get the help she needed to find her perfect match. If you are interested in helping Sprinkles or other dogs like her stop by and see us Tues-Sat 10am-5pm and ask about our foster care program or about adopting.
