Story
Meet Gwen! Gwen came to us as a stray and sadly was never reclaimed and she is now searching for a new forever home! Gwen is a Australian cattle dog mix that is 7 years old and weighs about 65 pounds. Gwen is a sweet older gal, that is pretty laid back. Gwen would love a nice quiet home. Gwen is house broken and will need a home without small children. Gwen will also need a home without cats. Gwen is good with the other dogs. We do require a dog intro with any future k-9 siblings to make sure everyone gets along! Gwen is up to date on her vaccinations, dewormed, flea treated, heartworm tested negative, microchipped & spayed! If you are interested in giving Gwen a forever home please contact the shelter directly at 989-831-7302 to set up an appointment! *All adoptions are done by appointment only*

Story
Let me introduce you to Lake Haven’s newest Mr. Wonderful, Loki He was a stray who was rescued by good Samaritans. Loki is a 1 year old, 38 pound, tricolor Blue Heeler. If you are unfamiliar with the breed, as I was, let me give you a brief synopsis:Blue Heelers are also know as Australian Cattle dogs. They are herding dogs. Love to run and keep anything on their chosen path. A bit wary with strangers; once they warm up to you they are incredibly loyal. A medium size dog that would do best with a fenced yard to help expel all that energy and keep him from going astray again He has done very well with his two foster sister dogs. Wrestling and running their yard is a highlight of his day. Oh that, and occasional treats. Not exposed to cats, so unsure how he’d react. Loki is housebroken. He is also crate trained. He appreciates a good couch nap too. He has been neutered, vaccinated, extensive bloodwork, urinalysis, Heartworm tested and on preventatives. He also has a microchip with lifetime registration for new owners Think you can provide this young, handsome, active boy with his perfect forever home? Please apply at:lakehavenrescue.org And don’t forget to call your current/former vet and give them permission to speak with our volunteer when called. Let’s get Loki his Christmas wish, a new forever home! Apply at www.lakehavenrescue.org

Story
Did you know that the ivy plant is a symbol of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty? An inspiring name for a charismatic pooch such as myself! Being the young lady that I am, an active family would be a match made in heaven! Play time is quite possibly my favorite time of day (sometimes I get a bit carried away with my plushy toys). I like to live life enthusiastically, having a positive direction for my gusto would be the ultimate delight for me! Although physical activity is an absolute riot, having a cool down period with some mental games is a good time too. At the end of the day, I just want to be involved with my people. I am not one to turn down a snuggle session by any means. What can I say, I am a sweetheart after all. I hope to find a family that wants to understand and accepts me for the glorious rescue dog that I am. For instance, I like some other dogs, but not every dog. Smaller dogs (and cats for that matter) remind me of chicken nuggets, I can't help but feel some prey drive there. But some other dogs my own size are fun to hang out and play with. I suppose that its pretty normal to not get along with everyone you meet in life though. Whether or not you are a botanical enthusiast, if you are looking for a forever companion submit your adoption application for the perfect furry addition! DOB: 5/25/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
I adopted Fin, my Catahoula Leopard Dog, from Noah’s Project when he was just a puppy. Now at seven years old, he has grown into a wonderful companion. From the moment I brought him home, he captured my heart with his playful spirit and loyal nature. Fin loves to play ball and is always eager for a game of fetch. He enjoys long walks, and his friendly demeanor makes him a great companion on adventures. After two years, I decided to adopt another dog, and Fin welcomed the new addition with open paws, proving he’s not only good with other pets but also incredibly adaptable. He’s great with kids and elderly family members. One of his favorite things is to have his belly rubbed; he could enjoy that all day long! He’s never tried to run away and always stays close by my side, which is a testament to his loyalty and bond with me. He is a genuine good dog. I am sad to see him go but I know someone out there would give him the attention he needs.

Story
Stanley is a playful and affectionate dog. He is a 6-year-old Texas Heeler, an Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. We got him from a rescue at 6 months old. He weighs 50 pounds. He loves any form of fetch and has excelled at any training or activity we have done with him. He's pretty good at frisbee! He loves to cuddle and curl up at your feet. He does not do well alone for long stretches, so you would need someone home with him in general. He's fine for like 6 hours at a time. We would like to keep him, but we have a toddler and a baby who is looking to start walking, and Stanley bumps the girls over (like when walking past). He's great with kids other than that, we just think he'd be better with older kids. He gets along with other dogs in general, but would be better with bigger, non-aggressive dogs. We'd have to introduce any potential pet-siblings and see how they get along.
