Meet Cooper; She is very sweet girl, who is looking for her fur-ever home. We believe she is around 3-4 years old and is a cattle dog mix. She came to us when her owner passed away and the other owner couldn’t care for her. Due to her breed or mix of breeds we are looking for a very specific home for her where she will be set up best for success! Cooper is pretty reactive towards people on leash and will nip at shins or ankles. She enjoys lots of exercise, biking right now seems to be her favorite. She’d probably do best as an only dog, as loves all the attention on her! She has had some interaction with other dogs on leash and she will correct them if their energy becomes to much for her.   Cooper also needs a kid free home.   We are requiring that her fur-ever home have heeler experience and be committed to getting her the training that she needs. Cooper will also need someone who is willing to do some training with her. **Cooper being a heeler mix does have high herding tendencies, and has a single “bite history” as she nipped someone in the calf.     An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; and heartworm testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Story
Stanley is a playful and affectionate dog. He is a 6-year-old Texas Heeler, an Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. We got him from a rescue at 6 months old. He weighs 50 pounds. He loves any form of fetch and has excelled at any training or activity we have done with him. He's pretty good at frisbee! He loves to cuddle and curl up at your feet. He does not do well alone for long stretches, so you would need someone home with him in general. He's fine for like 6 hours at a time. We would like to keep him, but we have a toddler and a baby who is looking to start walking, and Stanley bumps the girls over (like when walking past). He's great with kids other than that, we just think he'd be better with older kids. He gets along with other dogs in general, but would be better with bigger, non-aggressive dogs. We'd have to introduce any potential pet-siblings and see how they get along.

A happy energetic dog. Loves to play and enjoys long walks. Very smart. Not food motivated. Love’s playing with other dogs. We’re unable to provide the life that Dex deserves. My roommate and I are moving soon and can’t bring him along. I just hope someone needs a furbaby and has lots of time to spend with him, reaches out. He deserves the world!

Let me introduce you to Lake Haven’s newest Mr. Wonderful, Loki He was a stray who was rescued by good Samaritans. Loki is a 1 year old, 38 pound, tricolor Blue Heeler. If you are unfamiliar with the breed, as I was, let me give you a brief synopsis:Blue Heelers are also know as Australian Cattle dogs. They are herding dogs. Love to run and keep anything on their chosen path. A bit wary with strangers; once they warm up to you they are incredibly loyal. A medium size dog that would do best with a fenced yard to help expel all that energy and keep him from going astray again He has done very well with his two foster sister dogs. Wrestling and running their yard is a highlight of his day. Oh that, and occasional treats. Not exposed to cats, so unsure how he’d react. Loki is housebroken. He is also crate trained. He appreciates a good couch nap too. He has been neutered, vaccinated, extensive bloodwork, urinalysis, Heartworm tested and on preventatives. He also has a microchip with lifetime registration for new owners Think you can provide this young, handsome, active boy with his perfect forever home? Story
Luca, is a 3yr old Miniature Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He was born November 12th of 2020, was bought February 14th of 2021. He is house trained, knows the following commands; Sit, Stay, Wait, Lay down, “Can I see your paw”, spin. He has a sensitive stomach to human food, he does get diarrhea. We are currently feeding Purina Pro Plan Sensitive stomach salmon diet! He loves toys but will tear up any toys with stuffing in minutes, harder toys tend to last better. He loves the dog park and playing with other dogs, as long as they aren’t going home with him. He doesn’t seem to do well sharing a home with other dogs. We introduced him and our other dog about 2 years ago, a few months later Luca had started acting out. He seems sad all the time, doesn’t want to engage at all. He sits in his cage and won’t leave it, if he does then he will lay in front of it. We need to do what’s best for him and get him a good home where he can thrive and be happy. Please ask questions!
