Story
Hello, My name is Sammy. I have three brothers available for adoption. Our lives began being homeless with our human parents. We (our mom, dad, and siblings) lived in the back seat of a car. This is where we were born. Our human mom worked at Waffle House. Our foster mom went into the WH for breakfast one day and started talking to her waitress about dogs. That began everything.   Once our foster mom found out we were living in the backseat of the car, she started pursuing us babies, coming into rescue to get the type of homes we so deserve. So, here we are. I am incredibly handsome, neutered, leash-trained, and house-trained. I love to give hugs and get them, too. My ideal home is one where the family knows heeler herds, loves to go for walks and hikes, is active, but enjoys quiet time in front of a fireplace. I am ready to come home. Please request an application from alittlelonger2home@gmail.com. When you receive it, complete it thoroughly, including the email addresses of your three references. Story
Look at this beauty - she's been waiting a long time!!Mama Noelle is a beautiful and intelligent girl who loves toys, treats, and playing and is ready to find her forever family. We believe the reason she's not gained any attention is because at first she was considered a flight risk but not more - she's so much more comfortable in her new foster home she's not going anywhere until her new forever home is found. She's also doing great with her leash walking which was a roadblock before - again, foster family prevails and she's got it down!!Sweet Noelle was a stray who was running around in the very frigid weather of December 2022, very, very pregnant. A southern foster home was secured for her, but Noelle escaped while being brought there. For almost a week, rescuers frantically searched for her and her impending litter. She was finally found under a local house, where she had already given birth to 11 puppies!!! This time, she was brought safely to her foster home along with her family, where she was just the best mama to her babies (who were all adopted!!)Mama Noelle is gentle to her core and needs a gentle approach in return. She is soulful, sensitive, and sweet- needing some extra love and patience to learn to trust over time. When first meeting new people she prefers to observe quietly from a distance, watching and waiting till she's sure she is safe. Once she's comfortable, she'll slowly make her way over for pets and head scratches (even belly rubs!). She hopes to find home where she can hang out on the couch with her humans or fellow dogs. She wants very much to be with her people she just needs time to learn she can trust them. This girl has been making lots of strides on getting comfortable with daily walks- people walking by don't bother her one bit, but big sudden movements or loud noises can spook her. She'll jump and walk in circles around her person. She's learning and has been recovering much more quickly, able to continue about her walk once she knows all is well. She doesn't pull on leash at all but needs a handler who's ready to give her the reassurance she needs when things get a little scary for her. While she is fine once she's on leash, she needs a slow approach to getting the leash put on her as it's something she's still fearful of, so will need continued help as she learns. She has been gaining confidence each and every day but takes time to really let her guard down. Mama Noelle does great with other dogs and looks to them to know things are going to be okay. If she sees her dog siblings getting attention she'll make her way over for pets as well. She is a pro at ignoring dogs when out and about so no pulling or barking! Noelle's been making a ton of progress getting comfortable in the car. She'll jump in on her own! She takes some time to settle once in the car, no barking just panting. Noelle's fear response is only to seek safety, indoors that means finding her crate. Outside that means looking to the people she knows for reassurance. She is exceptionally quiet and gentle, just sensitive to the unknown. Mama Noelle arrived to New England after being with her southern foster family for quite a long time. All the big changes she experienced were a bit scary for her, leading to some regression. But after some time to get comfortable, she's learning her new routine and adjusting. Mama will need patience, love, and understanding when arriving in a new home. But once she knows she safe and secure she'll show her people how sweet she is!Name: Mama Noelle (LOCAL)Breed: Cattle Dog XSex: FemaleAge: 3 years 7 months as of 11/24Weight: 70.0- does need to lose some weightSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Has completed treatment and ready for a new home!!Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Yes over 7 Good with Dogs: Yes!Good with Cats: 100% shows zero interest in them. Story
Meet LooLoo, a brave little 35-pound cattle dog mix with a true survivor’s spirit! This spunky girl was just minding her business in her yard at a rooming house in Memphis when, in an unfortunate incident, police responding to a call mistook her protective barking for aggression. Without provocation, she was tragically shot in the leg. Fortunately, her owner surrendered her, ensuring she could receive urgent medical attention and a chance at a much brighter future.Despite her injury and eventual amputation, LooLoo hasn’t let it dampen her zest for life. She’s still recovering from surgery, but her resilient spirit shines through, and we hope to fit her with a prosthetic once she's fully healed. PAWS New England will be covering her journey to find mobility and comfort.LooLoo is good with other dogs and would do best in a home with children over 12, as she hasn’t yet been tested with younger kids. She’s ready for a fresh start, a loving home, and the chance to show just how much joy she can bring. Let’s give this courageous girl the life she deserves!Name: LooLooBreed: Cattle DogSex: FemaleAge: 2-3 years  (estimated)Weight: 35Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN   IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Nugget's BioName: NuggetAge: 6 years oldAbout Nugget:Nugget is a lovable, people- and kid-friendly pup who adores attention and companionship. He’s been through a rough patch—his previous owners had to return him because they didn’t have enough time for him, and he gained quite a bit of weight. Nugget is now on a healthy diet and returning to his ideal weight!Personality: Kid-Friendly - Nugget’s gentle and patient demeanor shines around children. On his first vet visit with us, he proved just how calm he can be—even behaving better than a 4-year-old!Strength & Determination: Nugget sometimes needs to remember how strong he is. If he sets his sights on something, he’ll plow through obstacles (albeit at a slow, steady pace).Curious About Other Dogs: He’s been introduced to smaller dogs, like a Cavapoo, whom he acknowledged politely during a walk. However, Nugget's play style can overwhelm smaller dogs in off-leash settings, so interactions are supervised and cautious.Needs & Next Steps:Nugget would thrive in a home that can continue helping him on his weight-loss journey and provide daily exercise to channel his energy. While he’s fantastic with people, we’re still exploring his compatibility with other dogs, especially those closer to his size.Fun Fact: Nugget has a big heart and an even bigger personality! He loves going on walks and is always eager to make new friends—human or canine. If you’re looking for a loyal and lovable companion, Nugget is your guy!Name: Golden NuggetBreed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler/Rottweiler (not DNA tested)Sex: MaleAge: 6 1/2 years Weight: 119 but should be approx. 75-80 (he's on a diet)Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: NegativeMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: YesGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $350.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue.
