At two, he's full of boundless glee, a furry friend for you and me. Smart as a whip, this Heeler boy, his heart's a treasure, a boundless joy. Story
Intake date 13 July 2024 . 2ish year old, black tri neutered male aussie, intake weight 45lbs . Brock has been with us for a week or so, and while he has a lovely temperament, he is shy to the extreme. He will need folks who will put time into building trust, utilizing a leash and longline, and time. Brock loves other dogs, and will need some friendly pups in his new home. He is unknown with cats, though he had the opportunity to chase and he ignored. He reminds me quite a bit of an aussie we had here a couple of years ago, who has turned into the loveliest companion for his adopter. Sometimes the roughest edges take a little bit of sanding to show the beauty hiding. . Brock is crate trained and walks well on leash. Anyone interested in adopting Brock should be prepared to take him to classes and provide lots of passive socialization. . This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org. If you are interested in adoption, please submit an application, complete with documentation. . Dogs that have not lived previously with children will not be offered to homes where young children reside. We do not `test` dogs with children or cats, since testing here will not show an accurate picture, and may give potential adopters false comfort. If a dog has lived with children or cats, that will be stated above. We do not place dogs as ESA, nor will we place a dog as hypo-allergenic. Applicants interested in adoption of a potential service dog must be working with an experienced trainer. . Please note that some young dogs may be placed with an alter deposit and contract, and any available dog of any age may be placed with a training deposit and contract -- this would be noted on offer, prior to placement. For additional information on these policies, please see our website. . Questions about dogs are generally not answered here due to lack of staffing. All available dogs may not be listed on our website due to time constraints and does not effect a specific dog`s availability. Additional information and photos will be posted here as time permits.

Story
Intake date 24 October 2024 2020 female red merle aussie, weight 35-40 lbs . Lyla is a very sweet girl who came to rescue because she no longer enjoys the company of small children in her home. After rearing a litter of puppies, she no longer tolerated the children`s shenanigans and was giving warning signals. The family decided to rehome her before any kids pushed things too far. For this reason she will not be placed in a home with young kids. She is great with adults, dogs, and has met the resident barn cats without issue. . Lyla does appear to have some basic obedience training but any new family should be prepared to work her brain and body as she is still a young Aussie. . This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org. Story
Intake date 29 October 2024 . 20 lb, female tri-colored (reportedly) mini aussie, appx 10 months old. . Pumpkin was part of a hoarding case a partner shelter was involved with. She is reportedly a mini-Aussie, though she does have a tail and we do not have documentation, only the word of the breeder involved. . Pumpkin is very sweet, but has not seen much in her short life and needs time to decompress and folks to help her along with learning about being a dog, as well as other social dogs to help her feel comfortable. . Pumpkin is crate trained and walks nicely on leash. She has spent time with dogs smaller than she is and has done well. We will update her description as she meets other dogs and barn cats while here. Pumpkin will be placed with an alter/training contract. . This dog is located in Maryland - we do not ship or transport dogs. For information on adoption, an FAQ, and our application, please see our website at mabcr.org.
