Django and Delilah are brother and sister. They are 2 1/2 years old. They must be rehomed together. Django is Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix, and Delilah is Blue Heeler/ Texas Heeler mix. Mother was impregnated by 2 males. That's why they look different, but are brother and sister. They are crate trained and house broken. They get along with the cats just fine. Were trying to rehome due the amount of hours I work, and the heart problems my wife is having recently. They need space to run, and love to play fetch. the link for Delilah's profile is. https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/43615549-louisville-kentucky-australian-cattle-dog-mix

Story
Blu was adopted from our local pound, they reported that he had been hit by a vehicle; however, Blu shows no signs of injury. He's very intelligent and needs room to run if possible. My yard isn't fenced so, he runs through the halls a few times to release his energy. After that, he relaxes in his area or if my family is gathering he relaxes with us. He doesn't bark but very alert and will let you know when someone is too close. He will protect you! If something is wrong or he needs to go out, he will bark and nudge you until you answer him. Blu is a great fur baby, I'm just allergic:(

Story
Meet Leona! Leona is a 5 year old cattle dog/pitbull mix. Leona needs a home with no cats or small animals and no small children. She is still very much a puppy and loves to play. She loves people and loves to give kisses. She would do best in a fenced in yard. If you would like to make Leona a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org  LEONA'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170   *Due to Covid 19 restrictions some of our new intakes vet scheduling has been delayed. We will still go ahead and schedule your meet and greet even if all the vetting needed has not been completed. Once vetting is complete the approved adopter will be able to take their dog/cat home to their forever home. The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am

Story
Say hello to Meeko! Meeko is part Australian cattle dog. He is relentlessly happy. He will always be happy to see. Loves playing outside, with toys, or with other dogs. He is also a great cuddler.  He had a tragic puppyhood. He had a horrible case of mange. He recovered from that, then he got so sick and almost died, but he fought back! Then he was in a bad car wreck but bounced back from that too. He clearly lives life to the fullest and loves everyday after going through those set backs. He is crate trained, and loves crashing hard in his bed while he waits for his person to get home from work. He is also very food motivated, so very trainable, and does great on walks.  He has been healthy, happy and fully vaccinated for some time. His foster home for the last year has had 2 other dogs and a decent size yard for him to blow off some energy. His perfect home would include someone who is as loving as he is, has had experience with energetic dogs in the past, someone who is active, and has a yard so he can run off some of his breeds naturally energy.
