Story
Meet Comet! Comet is a 7-Month-Old male Heeler mix. He is 33 lb and completely potty trained. Comet would benefit from a home that gives him a chance to exercise or would be interested in doing a dog sport. Heelers are very active dogs which often leads to herding behaviors. Please do research on the breed! So far, Comet has shown that he is able to calm down and settle after exercise. Comet is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Application can be found here: https://www.jotform.us/form/43196636952162Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old. Story
Hootie is one of our sanctuary dogs. He is at a foster home. He has been with us 2 1/2 years and he is now 5 years old. His owner moved to chicago and Hootie, an already fearful dog could not handle the traffic, horns and city life. The owner could not walk him on the chicago streets.  When Hootie came to us our intention was to put him up for adoption right away. This did not happen because he was so scared here at first. Hootie is still a scared dog , but not with us. We really need to find him a home. He craves love and attention, which he gets here, although he must share it with the other dogs. He really needs his own human. He sleeps in the bed at night. He is a house dog, our Sanctuary Dogs are all in foster homes.  He is housbroken. He is a sweet, loving and a wonderful boy. When he gets to know you he will always being lying at your side, or try to get on your lap. He is good with other dogs, however he seldom plays. He just wants his humans. He lays under his fosters desk when she is working. He is always there by her side.  He will be EXTREMELY scared when he goes to a new home. It took him a couple of weeks to come around. He is available under our Foster to Adopt Program. He needs someone home during the day. He will never be a social butterfly, he will always be a homebody. If you travel or go on vacations he can't be boarded or go along with you. He would need a dog sitter to come to your home. Hootie cannot be in a home with lots of activity. Any noise or quick moves scares him, where he will jump and look around. He will hide from strangers . He needs a quiet home with one or two people that will be his forever family. He is a homebody. . He is calm, quiet and very well behaved.  He would do best in a home with no children living in the house, or a home with teens. If anyone comes to visit he will just go and hide until he knows them. He does not bite or growl, he is very submissive, just scared of new things and new people.  He needs a secure fenced in yard. Someone who is home such as a healthy active retired couple because can live another 10-12 years. His new family must live no farther than 50 miles away from Grovertown, Indiana. We would want you to come and meet him here, and if it goes good we will need to bring him to your house. It may take a couple of visits if we feel he needs to get to know you better. We are in no rush for him to leave. We need to find the right home for him. Hooties adoption fee is $100. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. For more information on our Foster to Adopt Program go to this link https://indianasaveadog.com/foster-to-adopt ##671776##

Toast is a year and 1 1/2 year old male, Red Australian Cattle dog, who is amazing with respectful children 5 and up and great with other animals including cats. He wants nothing more than to cuddle on the couch in your lap. Though no fault of his own, he has had a couple of bumps in his life journey, which has given him some anxiety which causes a lot of drooling and some car sickness which has gotten better the more places we go. He is house broken and crate trained, he does use our doggy door. He is working on putting on some weight after his last shelter stay.  Toast is being fostered in Walkerton, IN Please contact hannahvazquez2002@gmail.com  if you have any questions about Toast.  You can complete an application to adopt Toast or any of the dogs on our website at www.comebyebcrescue.org .     ***  The potential adoptor will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them, if we do not process their application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 12, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Introducing Leroy!  Sport friends! Are you looking for your next dog sport partner? Look no further!   Leroy is a ROCKET and would excel at anything! This 1 year old petite guy is the perfect size at only 33# and 16” at the shoulder. He loves to fetch, will fly through the air after frisbees, knows a lot of fun tricks, has been started on agility obstacles and is so eager to work. He has been to dog shows, fairs and festivals, stayed in hotels and is okay in that environment. He’s a LOT of fun.  Typical of Cattle Dogs, Leroy is very dog selective and might need to be the only dog in the home. Proper introductions to new dogs are required. He does better with submissive, non-reactive dogs as his high energy can give off the wrong vibes to others. He did previously live with a dog savvy cat who would frequently play and interact with Leroy! We ask that he go to a herding dog experienced home that understands the quirks of this breed and is willing to work on building structure and a routine for him to thrive under.   Leroy is a busy boy. He requires a lot of physical and mental stimulation, as well as some crate times to decompress. He will bring you any toy or ball he can find to play fetch with, all day long. In the evenings he will settle on the couch and cuddle (if properly exercised for the day). He walks great on a leash and is his foster mom’s morning walk buddy. Leroy is being fostered in Argos, IN  Are you willing to give this boy a chance? Please reach out to his foster mom with any other questions at kayladarriaga@gmail.com For additional information on Border Collies and our adoption process, please visit our website at  www.comebyebcrescue.com .    ***  The potential adoptor will get a refund on the Application Fee if it’s determined by the Foster Parent that it’s not a good match for the dog and the dog for them.***    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 12, 2024, 4:35 pm
