Story
Nancy is a young Australian cattle dog who would just love to sit on your lap and be cuddled all day. She’s smart and full of personality with spurts of play time then lots of chill time.  Nancy is about 3 or 4 years old. She is completely house trained and is excellent in her crate. She’s good on a leash and knows several commands including “sit” and “kennel.” She is particularly motivated if treats are involved! Nancy loves other dogs but can get pretty rowdy when she plays. She would be great with a dog buddy as long as the dog is accepting, playful, and not easily offended by silly antics. One of Nancy’s favorite things is to talk to all her favorite toys. Nancy needs a home with a fenced-in yard and would prefer someone who has herding dog experience. No kids under 10 please. Nancy is being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1270950##

Story
Gabriel came to us from a rural shelter in the Carolinas. This young dog had been seriously injured after being hit by a car. The impact broke his leg and caused his eye to pop out. Although veterinarians were able to save his eye, he wasn’t able to see out of it, so it eventually had to be removed. He has recovered quickly from that procedure as well as surgery to fix his leg. Although Gabriel is only a couple years old, he totally acts like a puppy. He is extremely curious, energetic, and playful, but also loves to snuggle. He adores playing tug, thinks chew toys are fantastic, and has a blast with stuffed toys and his Jolly Ball. Gabriel is doing great with potty training and is working on leash and crate manners. He’s a quick learner and knows sit, kennel up, and hush. He is goofy and can be rowdy, but he totally wants to be a good boy. Gabriel is good with dogs that like to play as hard as he does. He needs a home with a fenced-in yard. He’d be fine as an only dog or would have fun with a well-matched dog pal. He’d love a family who might be interested in dog sports or other fun activities and who will spend time continuing to teach him how to be a great dog.  Gabriel wants to play and wants to be loved and cuddled. He certainly deserves it after his traumatic experiences. He’s being fostered in the St. Louis area. ##1864447##

Story
Tod is a total love bug. This 1-year-old cattle dog constantly looks for affection and is happy to have pets and cuddles, hugs and kisses. He is constantly on the move and loves to play – either by himself or with toys or with his canine foster brother. He’s very good at fetch and is incredibly smart. He could do well with agility, dog sports, or just the fun of an active family that will take him out and about on adventures. Tod is deaf and is learning hand signals. He knows “sit” and “down” and is working on “stay” and “shake.” He is very tuned in to his person and pays attention. He’s so smart and very eager to please. Tod walks really well on a leash, is great in his crate, and is potty trained. Tod would thrive in a home where someone is experienced with the brains and energy level of herding dogs. He needs an active family, a physical, fenced yard, and someone who is around much of the day. He could be an only dog but would love another energetic dog who loves to wrestle and play. Tod is very polite with his things and is happy to share. He has absolutely no concept of personal space and wants to be next to you, cuddling or sitting on your lap. He is the sweetest boy and just wants to be loved. Tod is being fostered in the St. Louis area.  ##2181389##

Story
Hi! My name is Rutabaga and I am probably the sweetest puppy on the planet. I’ve got those naturally pouty puppy-dog eyes that make it hard to say no, and my little white-tipped tail is just the cutest wagger ever. I also give the gentlest little hello kisses & will lightly place my paws on you to let you know I want some love. At only 5 weeks old I was already barking to let my foster mom know if I needed to potty in the middle of the night, or if the water bowl was dry! I’ve also gotten pretty good at telling time, so I know when to expect meals & who to talk to if they’re late. I’m a smart cookie & a quick learner—I bet you could teach me so many tricks! I love soft toys and chews with lots of texture, and I’m a fan of a cozy little spot to hide while I plot my next move during a game a of keep-away. Nesting in blankets fresh from the dryer is also the best way to start a nap, don’t you think?   If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.
