Story
Blue is an attractive, male, 28 pound Blue Heeler who is about 3-4 years old. People he meets on his neighborhood walks frequently comment on what a beautiful dog he is. Blue loves to go to the dog park where he runs playfully with all the other dogs. He is friendly and interactive. When he meets other dogs while he is on a leash, he is more apt to be reactive. Blue is a sweet pooch who will bond strongly with his family. When he first meets people he is cautious and worried that their outreached hands mean they will hit him, not pet him. He would live best with a person or family with a fenced in yard and without small children and cats. Is Blue housebroken? Well, sort of. He can sleep through the night with no problem at all. During the day he has to pee shortly after drinking water. He is on a water/pee schedule to manage this. He eats a prescription dog food that keeps his chronic GI condition in check. Blue is a smart dog who would benefit from formal dog training sessions with his new owner. This would encourage the bonding process between them and help him learn the behaviors that are expected of him. With consistency, patience and understanding, Waylon will give back to ‘his person’ unlimited affection and devotion. If you would like to meet him, contact Teri at 630-897-7454. His adoption fee is $150. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Cosmo: The Freckle-Pawed, Big-Smile Pup Ready for Forever! Hi. I’m Cosmo. Black-and-white cutie. Giant grin. Radar ears. Polka-dot paws. I get a lot of compliments. I came out of a shelter in Georgia, but everything changed when I got rescued. Now I’m safe. I’m loved. I’m ready to find a real family who wants a best friend. I’m about 24 pounds now, and even when I fill out, I’ll probably stay in the 30 to 40 pound range. That’s small enough for your lap but sturdy enough for your adventures. People say I might be a mix of fox terrier, cattle dog, and pointer. That means I’m smart, loyal, playful, and curious. I’m young and still figuring things out. I love to explore, I love people, and I’m clean in my kennel. I used to panic on the leash and flop around like I was in a drama class, but I’ve gotten way better. These days, I just want to go out and sniff the world. With other dogs, I bring the party. I’ve got puppy energy and I play hard. Some dogs love it. Others tell me to chill, and I don’t always pick up on that right away. I do best when someone steps in and gives me a reset. I don’t mean harm. I just get excited. Cats? Yeah, I’m not the best match for them. Sometimes new stuff makes me nervous, especially the vet or being crated. I can get mouthy when I feel trapped. But when I know I’m safe, I settle right in and show my soft side. What I need is someone with a kind heart and a strong voice. Someone who will help me stay busy and teach me how to be the best version of me. If you’re the kind of person who sees potential and sticks around to see it bloom, we might be meant for each other. So, who wants a forever friend that’s fun, loyal, full of life, and pretty easy on the eyes? I’m right here, waiting. ##2510854##

Story
Merrick is truly something special! At just over a year old, Merrick is a 45-pound Australian Cattle Dog with a heart as big as his potential. This handsome boy is smart, affectionate, and ready to find a forever home that will embrace him—just as he is. Due to old leg injuries, Merrick can’t live an active lifestyle, but that doesn’t dull his shine. He’ll need a caring foster or adopter who can help manage his mobility with gentle at-home treatments like red light and massage therapy, along with pain medication on days he needs extra support. But don’t let that fool you—his spirit is as bright and loving as ever. Merrick may not run marathons, but he will run straight into your heart. He's a total gentleman—calm, friendly, and soaking up the love from everyone he met. He’s crate trained, has a medium energy level, and enjoys peaceful companionship over chaos. That is why we recommend no kids. He gets along great with calm dogs, and although he hasn’t been cat-tested yet, his sweet and gentle nature suggests he could do well with the right introduction. he definiteyl gets along with small dogs - see his photos. Merrick is loyal, intelligent, and deeply people-focused, a true best friend in the making. All he needs is someone to see past his physical limitations and recognize the perfect companion waiting beneath. He may need a little extra care, but in return, you’ll get a lot of love. Looking for a loyal, laid-back lovebug to share your life with? Merrick is ready to meet you. Fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, and house-trained Professionally trained in basics (sit, stay, walking on leash, etc) – includes 1 FREE trainer session at trainer's location for adopters Foster-to-adopt option available – all costs during fostering are covered by us - food, medical, etc ##2248587##

Kokoro - The Big-Hearted Playmate Who Loves Life Hi, I’m Kokoro, a six-month-old pup whose name means “heart.” That fits me perfectly because I have a big one. I’m playful, friendly, and curious. I love to run, play, and have fun with other dogs, then chill out when it’s time to rest. I’m crate trained and learning all the good puppy manners. I’ll need a family with patience to keep helping me learn how to walk nicely on a leash and grow into the best dog I can be. I love people, and I’m happiest when I’m part of whatever is happening around me. If you’re looking for a puppy with energy, affection, and a loyal heart, I’m ready to join your family. ##2535104##

Story
Meet Roxanne! This sweet cattle dog mix is such a cuddle bug! At just four months old, she is already keeping her indoor area clean and goes outside to potty. Roxanne does well with other dogs and cats and loves attention. At this time, she is not a fan of being crated but does well outside of her crate. Roxanne’s current foster says she is absolutely precious and she could just hold her all day long. If this sounds like the pup for you, please complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.
