If the question is not answered in the bio please send emails to   info@HeidisLegacyDogRescue.com Hi, I’m Douglas! I’m named after the road I was found on scared and alone. A nice family took me in, cleaned me up, helped me gain weight and even made sure I got all of my puppy shots! Now they are trying to help me find my forever home. The vet says I’m about 8 months old (EST DOB 06/20/2023) and some cheek swab thingy figured out I am a mostly Australian Cattle Dog/Terrier mixed breed. I’m a very playful, curious and energetic little fella! I love to do zoomies, army crawl across the living room on my belly and roll around to play on my back. I love playing fetch with a ball and spending time outside. I’m a chewer so sometimes I have to be redirected to my toys and bones so I don’t inadvertently eat my human’s socks or flip flops. I’m very trainable - I have learned to sit, sit and stay and shake. I’m a really sweet boy and am starting to mind my manners. I need someone who has the time and patience to work with me so I’m more consistent responding to commands. One of the best things about me is that I’m crate trained and I even go in there now without getting a treat when my family tells me to “go home”. They say I whine sometimes when I’m bored in my crate but it’s just because I want to come out to play and see everyone! I’m really good at taking naps and sleeping in my crate. I LOVE food, sometimes a little too much, but I’m not food aggressive. You can motivate me to do just about anything with a training treat! My rescue mom says I’m doing really well at sitting and staying before I get my food. The house I’m staying in has 10 year old twins. Sometimes I listen to them and follow their lead, other times I get confused and think they are pack playmates so I jump and nip (playfully). My rescuer has not seen me with younger kids so we are not sure how I would behave. I get along well with other dogs and love to rough play. My rescuer’s 5 year old 70 lb female pup is my favorite playmate! She loves to rough play with me and puts me in check when I need it. My rescue family says with some training and a lot of love and fun, I’m going to grow up to be a great dog! Sophie is an 8 year old female mix breed that weighs 55 lbs.  She came into rescue after the passing of her owner.  She would do best as an only pet as she gets very anxious and possessive over toys.   She has been spayed, current on all vaccines including Rabies and Bordetella, heartworm and fecal negative and microchipped. She has been on a monthly heartworm and flea preventative.  All dogs shed and most of our dogs are mix breeds and are not recommended for any person suffering with allergies. Story
Kenji is a very intelligent, loyal dog, with very high energy a expected by his breed. Due to a change in life situation, I am now away from home the large majority of the day due to work, and unfortunately no longer have the time to accommodate his energy needs. Due to receiving less exercise and attention, he has began to show non aggressive stress behaviors, such as peeing in the house, which he has not done since he was a puppy years ago. I want to make sure that he gets the care that he needs, in a home that can give him plenty of love and attention, in addition to enrichment and exercise.

Story
We rescued Valkyrie “Val” from a shelter in Ventura County, CA in Sept 2019 as a stray that was picked up. When we first got Val she was incredibly shy, but once she warmed up to us she showed us how big her personality was. She is honestly and incredibly loving dog with very high energy as a cattle dog. Her biggest quirks/issues are that she sheds a lot and likes to lick a lot. But she is very open to being trained as she has been able pick up a couple basic commands naturally without any training. While giving her up is a devastating idea to us. Her high energy and demanding nature make her an unpredictable dog to have around our small child. She has not caused any harm and I honestly don’t believe she ever would but her need for attention and burning of energy mean that at this stage in our life we cannot properly give our sweet girl what she deserves. She is also probably best as an only dog home as she feeds off other dogs and gets jealousy of other dogs getting attention easily.

Story
Mila is a wonderful and loving pet, she is pretty active and good for all the bike rides and runs. She is super smart and will definetly protect your house. She does not like vaccum machines lol My daugther adopted her from a breeder, unfortunately she is not able to take care of her and i already have two dogs. :( I am more than happy to answer any questions. We hope for her to go with someone who can provide enough space for her to run or at least to keep her active daily, she is not a lap dog even when she love to cuddle. Please read about cattle dogs before inquiring, she is a pure breed.
