Story
This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Story
Dog Name: Willie Breed: Cattle dog mix Sex: Male Age: 10 month Weight: 30lb Medical Needs: None. Housebroken: Yes. Has used a dog door to go in and out as needed. Crate trained: Yes. Crated all day without any problems. Good in the car: Needs to be restrained or crated, otherwise he will be driving the car. Good on a leash: Yes. Energy level: High. Need a fenced in yard: No, but would need a way to get out all his energy. Dog Friendly: Yes If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Would do best with a companion to learn from Cat Friendly? Unknown. He’s had one interaction with a cat. Kid Friendly: Unknown. No kids in foster home. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Because of his breed mix, I would suggest no small children. He can be mouthy and jumpy Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Willie is a fun puppy. He loves to play ball and swim. He has a lot of energy but he eventually does settle in. He goes into his crate without an issue everyday. Being a cattle dog mix, he requires someone who will help channel his drive and energy in productive ways to help him be the best version of himself. Otherwise, he'll find alternative ways to amuse his wily self. Fosters Location: Georgetown, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) ##2250427##
