Story
We found Cosmo, a shy puppy with soulful eyes, in the Boulder Target parking lot. We brought him home, and he blossomed into an incredibly playful and loving 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog. Cosmo is a fetch fanatic, a jumping marvel, and a hiking buddy extraordinaire. He's remarkably smart, reliably responding to verbal commands like "Sit" and eager to learn more. He thrives on activity, loves long walks, and excels at any game involving a ball or frisbee. He's a loyal companion, always ready for adventure and affection. Sadly, our family's circumstances have changed, and we can no longer provide the active, engaging life Cosmo needs. He deserves a home where he can run, play, and be challenged. Cosmo is an amazing dog—loyal, loving, intelligent, and incredibly fun. He needs a family who can give him the active, fulfilling life he deserves. If you're looking for a playful, energetic, and well-behaved 2-year-old companion, please consider giving Cosmo a forever home.

Story
Meet Darius - he is a sweet and silly pup and his charming personality will have you in stitches. He is looking for a family that will give him lots of opportunities for exercise and enrichment and that will support him when he`s feeling a bit insecure around new people. Darius has enjoyed other dogs and might appreciate a canine companion in his next home, but at this time, HSBV will only rehome him to a family without cats. Additionally, we are requiring a home without children or with children over the age of 8. A romp in the snow, cuddles on the couch, or accompanying you on errands - this kiddo is ready to be your sidekick!

Story
Bluey is a beautiful pup looking for a patient and understanding family who can help him build confidence and feel safe in his new home. Bluey can be a little insecure in new situations, so he’ll thrive in a calm, loving environment where he can take things at his own pace. Once he feels comfortable, his loyal and affectionate nature shines through, and he’ll be right by your side as your devoted best friend! Bluey will also thrive in an active home that gives him lots of opportunities to flex his athletic nature! He has enjoyed the company of other dogs, but appears overwhelmed by some of the other dogs in the shelter, so we are recommending a doggie meet-and-greet if entering a multi-dog home. Additionally, because of his sensitive personality, HSBV will only rehome him to a family without children or with children over the age of 10.

Story
Como is a 5-year-old rescue dog who has been a loving part of our family since he was six months old. He’s smart, obedient, and affectionate with people, including our young children. He learns quickly and adapts well—equally happy running for miles or lounging all day. However, as he matured, he developed anxiety, making him reactive around other dogs. Despite training and medication, his reactivity persists, though he has never shown aggression toward humans. With two small children, it’s increasingly difficult to provide him with the exercise he needs while managing his anxiety. Como thrives in an environment where he can get the exercise and space he deserves. If you’re interested in giving him a loving home, please reach out.

Story
Lila is deaf, and that is her special need. And she is quite happy and loving. Lila LOVES people so very much and will walk into you and curl right up, getting love and snuggles. She has been well socialized with other dogs and the cat that lives at the foster home. She did not initially like the cat, but now she snuggles right up with him and enjoys having him around. She is a gentle girl who is learning her way around the best way to take her cues. She is spayed and microchipped, and is a wonderful companion for someone who is around often and wants to help Lila continue to evolve. She walks well on a leash, never goes too far, and loves attention. Lila enjoys playing with a Kong food dispenser rolling around the kitchen floor (and we enjoy watching her play with that as well!). She has learned what it is to play and what dog toys are now, and that has been the best evolution to watch! She is going to need some training to figure out that she needs to look to her owner for cues. We have been working on that, but she needs more work. She has started to look at our faces for direction, though she does not seem to comprehend the "thumbs up" many deaf dogs can respond to. She will need someone who is willing to do training specific to deaf dogs. Lila does not love going in the car, but goes every day and has gotten much better. She does still drool a bit. The more she is restrained in the car, the better she does. She can be a little picky about food, but loves chicken and puppy food, and always enjoys treats. She is exceptional, and we know there is her person out there knowing that she is such an outstanding girl who deserves all of the love that a person has to offer. She has such a tender and loving disposition, you will fall in love immediately.

Lady, cattledog mix, 4 yo, 57 lb, spayed femaleLady is thin long-legged cattledog mix with the cutest face and floppy ears. She is curious and fascinated by all kinds of things. Lady spent months and months in limbo in boarding and was happy to join our gang and have a choice of playmates.  She is young and active, and needs a fenced yard.  Lady finds it most comforting to lie down close to you especially if she can somehow lean into you.
