Story
How this pet arrived:Pepper was brought in by her previous owner. If you're interested in adopting, please email us at adoptoceanside@sdhumane.org and provide a good callback number. Why Pepper is the one for you:Meet Pepper, a smart and loving girl who's ready to be your constant companion! Trustworthy and well potty-trained, Pepper is the definition of a loyal sidekick-she'll follow you around the house, always wanting to be near you. When it's time to relax, she'll wait patiently at a distance for an invitation to snuggle, and if you don't invite her, she'll subtly scoot closer over time, just to make sure you know she's still available. Pepper absolutely adores car rides, tug of war, and running around, making her a wonderful mix of playful and affectionate. She's mastered commands like "sit" and "hand," especially when food is involved. She'll try her best to stay by your side and is looking for a family who is home frequently and wants to spend time with her. She's not a candidate for being left alone in the backyard as she may try to escape to go track you down! In return for your companionship, Pepper will shower you with endless love and cuddles. She's looking for someone who will be there for her, just as she'll always be there for you. If you're ready for a smart, affectionate, and loyal best friend, Pepper is ready to fill your life with love and joy! At SDHS:Pepper has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Story
How this pet arrived: Pupusa was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on November 14, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Pupusa and Tamale, a bonded pair of female Australian Cattle Dogs, are searching for a patient and understanding home where they can grow together. Coming from a background with limited exposure to the world, they are naturally shy and cautious with new people and experiences. These sweet sisters need to be adopted together and thrive best in a calm, adult-only home (kids 12+). A ground-level home in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to a potty area is ideal as they continue to build confidence. They are wary of other dogs, so a canine-free household is preferred, though introductions to any resident pup prior to adoption would be essential. Our trainers are ready to provide guidance to help Pupusa and Tamale settle into their new home and discover the joy of companionship and love. They will even be sent home in a large crate to ensure their comfort in their new home! At SDHS:Pupusa has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Pupusa is now ready for their new home! Story
How this pet arrived: Bonnie was brought in by her previous owner on November 27, 2024. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Bonnie, a loving and resilient dog who is currently currently rocking a stylish splint to help her heal from a fractured front leg. Her splint should be changed every 1-2 weeks and exercise should be restricted to short leash walks for potty breaks to allow the fracture to heal. Known for their intelligence and high energy, Bonnie is no exception to the traits of her breed. One of her adorable quirks is her "Heeler nibble"-a playful little nip at your ankles! Bonnie is dog-selective and has had some reactivity to unfamiliar dogs (resulting in barking and pulling on the leash), this behavior can be managed with some positive reinforcement training, but dog parks are going to be a "no" for this pup. Bonnie may also be protective of her high-value items like food and toys, so she is required to be the solo pet in her new home. She's already shown herself to be affectionate and enjoys meeting new people, happily accepting pets and attention. She's a smart, loving girl who would love some extra care and a warm bed! Don't forget to bring a leash and collar! Dog Reactive Dog:  Bonnie requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Primary Color: Red Secondary Color: White Weight: 42.6 Age: 2yrs 0mths 3wks

SHELTER IS FULL and this dog needs you NOW! WE ARE COURTESY POSTING THIS DOG FOR THE MORENO VALLEY ANIMAL SHELTER TO HELP THEM FIND A HOME. The shelter is severely overcrowded and desperately needs help. Dogs are being turned in higher numbers than the shelter can accommodate, therefore many are losing their lives due to lack of cage space. We are helping get the word out of their immediate need. Please save this deserving pooch and clear a kennel for another dog in need today! PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST IF INTERESTED IN FOSTERING FOR A RESCUE UNTIL THEY FIND A FOREVER HOME IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ADOPT BUT CAN HELP BY FOSTERING (INCLUDE YOUR LOCATION/CITY AND HOW LONG YOU CAN FOSTER) This beautiful dog is located in the Moreno Valley shelter. Please feel free to reach out to us with questions. Thank you! MARLENE - ID#A538620 I am a female, red ticked and black Australian Cattle Dog mix. The shelter thinks I am about 6 years old. I weigh approximately 40.02 lbs. STAFF NOTES: Very sweet but very scared.. Needs time to adjust. Arrived heavily lactating (no puppies with her) After visiting her for a couple of days, she is now more outgoing with me and is such a sweet heart. She is still very shy with people walking by her kennel and tries to sleep the majority of the day to help cope with this environment. I have not heard her bark once while here and she won't easily give attention unless she trusts you. She is a sensitive girl, but she is so sweet Took her out to the conference room to play with some of the staff, and at first she was shy with her head low.. But within a few minutes, she quickly became comfortable with everyone and was taking turns getting pet by each of us. She knows how to sit, shake, lay down, and is very food motivated. She wasn't too interested in toys, but she enjoyed chasing me around would play bow often. She leashed well and when it was time to put her back, she went right into her kennel. Moreno Valley Animal Shelter 14041 Elsworth Street, Moreno Valley, CA 92553 951-413-3790 Adoption hours: Tuesday - Friday 10 am - 5 pm Saturday 10:30 am - 3:30 pm Closed Sunday-Monday & Holidays

We would love to keep him but we have struggled to get him well adjusted to our family and I fear he might not be the right fit since we have a toddler. He is a loveable dog very smart . He needs a new home with owners who are experienced and can get him the right training.

Story
Bobbie was born in Jamul, ca on October 28, 2020. Bobbie is 100% Australian shepherd, her tail was docked by the previous owner. Bobbie is a very sweet girl who does require a lot of attention and love. Leashed trained, loves to cuddle and knows basic treats with some training she can be even more amazing. She does well around other dogs and cats. She does tend to bark when someone she doesn’t know comes to the door. With a treat she will stop, but I do believe she needs training. Unfortunately, I am now workigk full time hours and I do not have the time to care for her. With me being out longer hours she has had bladder issues and has had more recent accidents inside the home. We also have moved to a townhome that does not have a backyard so This is something she is not used to having the freedom to use the bathroom as she pleases.Has caused issues in my life with everything else going on and I just want bobbie to have the good life she deserves.
