Sweet and mild mannered this little guy is quickly winning everyone’s hearts. He’s very affectionate and loves everyone he’s met both human and dog alike. All of these qualities mean he’s the perfect fit for our Pawsitive Change program and he’ll be joining the crew at Tehachapi State prison. We’re pretty sure he’s going to quickly become a favorite there as well! As wonderful as Peter is he found himself at risk at our County Shelter. Picked up as a stray he lingered for almost a month. No one came for him and no one wanted to adopt him. With so many other dogs residing at the shelter hoping for a home Peter didn’t stand much of a chance of making it out alive. We are giving him the chance he desperately needed and Peter has never looked back! Peter will spend the next 3 months gaining basic obedience skills while he’s in prison. He’ll be adoption reach when he graduates and we’d love to find him a forever home with another dog to pal around with. He really enjoys playing with his canine buddies and a home with another dog would make him the happiest. This sweet boy is guaranteed to win your heart. Three puppies were running on the busy road just down the road from Paw Parent. It was dark out and leaving them there was out of the question.With the help of other people we were able to catch all three. But now what?My neighbor said that she would take them to the shelter, which would mean that three dogs already at the shelter would need to be killed to make room for them. They could also catch Parvo at the shelter and be euthanized and even if they didn't get sick, if not adopted they would be killed to make room for new arrivals.Seeing them falling asleep cuddling together, exhausted from the trauma of having been abandoned, I just couldn't let that happen!So, we squeezed them in. It is a challenge because we were so full already, but we are making it work.Turns out the puppies are a new cross breed, Cattle dog and Corgi, called Cowboy Corgis. We believe that a backyard breeder who couldn't sell them now that they were about four months old, drove out to the desert and dumped them! They are incredibly sweet and lively with lots of love to give. Dakota is outgoing, affectionate and loves people. She is about 4 months old, weighs 24 pounds, is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped and ready to brighten up someone's life.
