Story
We rescued Zora from a kill shelter several months ago. She is a very sweet, affectionate, and energetic dog. She will require the opportunity to go on long walks and runs. She's very playful and a wonderful hugger (her fur is soooo soft). She's very young. She was very good at using puppy pads, but has recently become confused as we're trying to train the dogs (we have 7) to go outside. She is very much a pleaser and will (usually) go to her crate when she's told. She loves to play with other doggies, but gets very nippy sometimes and terrorizes our pit bull who doesn't realize she could easily end Zora (and instead jumps in mommy's lap). We'd rather she never find that out. With my husband leaving the home (we are separating), the "alpha" is gone and Zora is now trying to assert dominance. Thus it's best for the other dogs and our preschooler if she lives elsewhere. We will miss her, but she's just too much for one small person to handle along with 6 other doggies.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Meet Paloma: The Snuggle Queen and Couch Connoisseur** Introducing Paloma, a 6 year-old mix who has mastered the art of relaxation and cuddling. Once a skittish diva with a flair for chaos, Paloma has mellowed into the ultimate indoor enthusiast. These days, she’s all about lounging on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, and keeping her humans company. Paloma is selective with her canine friends, preferring the company of well-mannered boy dogs who understand her need for space. While she’s initially reserved, Paloma’s personality shines through once she feels comfortable and secure in her environment. Hiking and camping? Not her style. Paloma would much rather curl up on a comfy dog bed than explore the great outdoors. Mornings with Paloma are anything but dull. She greets each day with a breakfast performance that’s nothing short of spectacular. Once her meal is over, she’s back to her favorite spot, ready for a day of cozy relaxation. But here’s the catch—Paloma needs an owner with a strong personality who won’t let her run the show. She’s clever and quick to test boundaries, so her ideal human must be able to keep her in check and not give in to her charming ways too often. With a unique blend of quirkiness and calm, Paloma is the perfect companion for someone who values comfort and a touch of personality in their furry friend. Adopt Paloma, and prepare to welcome a laid-back, loving, and slightly quirky dog into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 7:50 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Maddie! We would love for you to meet this beauty! She is such a special dog. She is a TRUE mutt. We have no idea what her breed is and we wouldn't be surprised she is a super mutt with anything from shepherd to pits to some small breed dogs. She is the perfect medium size dog in the mid 30s and a young adult dog who is NOT very active but active enough to be happy on walks, runs, hikes or even dog parks but also thrive in a home with a yard. We can see her doing well in an apartment seeting as long as her adopter is looking to take her off leash places (once trained for recall) so she can run and have fun. Maddie is SO loving. She is truly a great dog who does GREAT with all dogs and just wants to be friends, I mean if somebody wants to bossy or be a bully to her she won't have it and is not a push over but she is not interested in any shenanigans but be friends and have fun. She also ADORES humans from men, women and children alike. An ARWOB volunteer spend some time with Maddie in June and this is what she had to say: ......'Maddie was very excited and energetic when she first arrived to the adoption event, but it didn't take long for her to settle in and relax. She's literally the perfect size, <40-45 lbs, and I could see her DNA test coming back as primarily blue heeler/cattle dog and pit being the second breed. I saw the best qualities of both breeds in her.    She needs more practice walking on a leash, but was catching on quickly in the short time I was with her. I didn't experience any leash reactivity despite there being other leash reactive dogs at the event, but she managed those interactions well and did end up meeting a few new dogs from ARWOB with no issues. With more training and socialization on a leash, I would expect Maddie to have 0 leash issues in the future and her to be a very fun dog to walk with.    She was in the process of learning how to sit and it was very obvious that she'll be easily trainable as she was eager to please and she appreciated all of the 'Good Girl!' positive reinforcements as well as treats and pets for rewards. Maddie seemed to really crave human attention and interaction as she leaned or rubbed on me on many occasions. She was very sweet and gentle with the several kids that we interacted with during the event, so could fit into a family setting with kids of any age. '....... We would LOVE to find an adopter for her and in the meantime perhaps a foster home. Maddie has not been cat tested and we suggest a foster to adopt trial with her if you have kitties at home. Foster to adopt trials for any reason are GREAT as it allows adopters to really get to know the dogs before they adopt.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
